Placement of students in grade 9…
• After students are accepted at a high school, they will be asked to select their courses, including the course types: Academic, Applied, Locally Developed
• The Grade 8 teacher will make recommendations• The high school guidance staff will review choices and
recommendations• There is an Exchange of Information meeting for all
students• If there are concerns about course types chosen, the
parent is contacted and advised• Parents have the final say as to which type of course the
student will take, but we suggest a discussion with the high school guidance counsellor if you have questions or concerns

Creating Pathways to Success Policy Document
All students leave secondary school with:

• confidence in their ability to implement, and revise or adapt, their plan throughout their lives as they and the world around them change.
