To use your phone, you must insert a valid SIM cardsupplied by your GSM operator or retailer. The SIMcard contains your subscription, your mobile number,and memory in which you can store phone numbersand messages.

Contacts are stored in one of the two availablephonebooks: in your SIM card (number of entriesdepending on capacity) or in your phone (up to 999names). When entering new names, they will only beadded to the phonebook you have selected.

A profile is a group of predefined settings whichallows you to quickly adapt your phone to yourenvironment. E.g. selecting Meeting will set yourringer volume to silent, activate vibra and deactivatethe key tones (the other items are set according to thesettings you configured). When your meeting is over,selecting Personal will reactivate all your usual settings.Details of each profile are displayed when selecting aprofile.

When you associate a hotkey to a profile (e.g. long presskey 3 to activate Outdoors), also long press thiskey to deactivate it and go back to the Personal settings.

This feature is network andsubscription dependent. If thenetwork doesn’t send thecaller’s number, the phone willdisplay Call 1 or Withheldinstead. Contact your operatorfor detailed information onthis subject.

Some networks don’t allowmessage exchanges with othernetworks. First check that youentered the number of yourSMS centre, or contact youroperator for detailedinformation on this subject.

A picture may not be acceptedby your mobile phone if it istoo large, if its name is toolong, or if it doesn’t have thecorrect file format. Seepage 36 for completeinformation on this subject.

The symbol is not displayed

The network connection islost. Either you are in a radioshadow (in a tunnel orbetween tall buildings) or youare outside the networkcoverage area. Try fromanother place, try to reconnectto the network (especiallywhen abroad) or contact yournetwork operator forassistance/information.

The display doesn’t respond (or the display responds slowly) to key presses

The display responds moreslowly at very lowtemperatures. This is normaland does not affect theoperation of the phone. Takethe phone to a warmer placeand try again. In other cases please contactyour phone supplier.

Your phone doesn’t return to the idle screen

Press ) or switch off thephone, check that the SIMcard and the battery areinstalled correctly and switchit on again.
