BAIA DOMIZIACAMPING VILLAGE

ITALY IS A COUNTRY OF REGIONS, EACH ONE SHOWING A DIFFERENT SIDE TO THIS GREAT

COUNTRY AND NAPLES IS NO EXCEPTION

BAIA DOMIZIA PARK HIGHLIGHTS• Fantastically positioned for trips to Naples and historic sites like Pompeii.

• Right next to the beach, and when we say right next to the beach, you’re

practically sitting in the waves!

• Stunning pools, suitable for all the family.

• Situated in a remote, secluded location amongst pine trees.

• Plenty to keep you busy if you fancy being active, with a gym, tennis court and

beach volley ball courts to get the blood pumping.NAPLES

W hen you think of Italy, what comes to mind? Is it the food? The wine?

The amazing countryside? It is a country made for exploring and the latest addition to our selection of holiday parks is the perfect place to experience all Italy has to offer.

Next to a stunning sandy beach and surrounded by shady pine trees, you really will feel far away from all the hustle and bustle of life - perfect for recharging your batteries. But don’t be fooled by this holiday park’s secluded location - you are slap bang in the middle of some Italy’s best and busiest tourist attractions.

SIGHTSEEINGMake sure you have plenty of room left on that SD card, because with all the breath taking sights near Baia Domizia you’ll need it!

Situated between Rome and Naples this park is the perfect base for day trips to these impressive cities. With tourist attractions like the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and St Peter’s Basilica, Rome is often number one on the list of destinations when people visit Italy. But

nearby Caserta is worth visiting if only for the Royal Palace - this UNESCO World Heritage Site used to be home to the Kings of Naples. Naples itself isn’t short of attractions, including the legendary volcano, Mount Vesuvius. Despite it still being ‘active’ you can hike up to the crater! The path is made of volcanic rock, so you’ll need something sturdier than flip-flops!

HOME OF PIZZA It’s hard to imagine something as widespread and delicious as pizza actually having a home, but it does, and Naples is that place! Don’t be tempted to ask for pineapple or stuffed crusts, this is pizza as traditional and delicious as it comes.

Don’t be tempted to ask for pineapple!

PLAGE DU SARDINALOne of the best thing about an Al Fresco holiday is having all your activities on site - so you can do as little or as much as you want to. Whilst we pride ourselves on the amazing pools and water features on our parks, some of them - like Les Peupliers - are fortunate to be situated next to stunning beaches. And what a beach it is! Right next to the holiday park, this gently sloping kilometre of fine sand is perfect for all the family.

Imagine strolling along at sunset, with the waves lapping at your feet and the light of the setting sun giving everything a warm glow... sorry, we got carried away a bit there! But it does sound good, doesn’t it?

L es Peupliers is perfectly positioned for those families who want a bit of everything on their holiday.

Situated next to a stunning beach, surrounded by the beautiful Roussillon countryside - famous for its figs and wine - and near enough to the Spanish border to feel the Catalan influence - you can soak up the relaxed culture whilst exploring the region.

SIGHTSEEINGYou may be on a beautiful park, next to a stunning beach, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to see or do, should you want to venture further afield! Canet Plage - more amazing sandy

beaches to explore and enjoy (I know, life is SO hard!). In fact there are 9km of them - that’s over 5 and half miles in old money! - so make sure you slap on plenty of the factor 50! Aqualand - A great place to head to on a hot summer’s day, this water park has plenty of thrills and spills for all the family.Perpignan - Amazing Catalan influences are on show in this historic French city - including the 13th century Palace of the Kings of Majorca. It’s the kind of place that rewards more than just a day trip.

WHEN IN ROUSSILLONOne of the hidden treasures of the Languedoc-Roussillon region is the wine. This region produces more wine than any other region of the country, and whilst it may not have the fancy names of Bordeaux or Burgundy, their Vin de Pays wine is amazing value and very drinkable - especially on your mobile home decking after a day’s fun in the sun!

So, if you like your vino then getting out and about and exploring the regions vineyards will be the perfect day out! If you do want to visit vineyards it is a good idea to email or ring ahead to check opening hours and avoid visiting at ‘dejeuner’ (between noon and 2pm).

When Al Fresco Holidays arrived we were greeted

by the friendly ANTS team, who gave us an overview of the day ahead and a delicious breakfast was laid out with some amazing slow pressed juices. For the first activity we were given five finger shoes which had the sensation of not wearing any shoes at all but with full protection! We then set off on a winding wood chip pathway built to overlook the campsite and give stunning views of the area. Then we moved onto the jungle gym and function area where we used different body

strengths to complete various group challenges, to help us understand our body. This ended with a friendly team game of volleyball on their courts with special 'cool' sand - which felt like a free massage on the feet! In the afternoon we went to ‘The Lab’ where we did various tests and were educated on ways to improve different areas of our brains! Finally we took a trip out through country roads and vineyards on their amazing E-bikes and had a quick pit stop at the local winery for a tour and tasting which gave a perfect end to the day before heading back to the ANTS ‘nest’. This experience was such a great day out and a way to try something new, and I would definitely do it again.

THE MORE THE MERRIER WITH OUR GROUP DISCOUNT

When you think about a family holiday, what do you think of? Is it just you

on a beach, cocktail in hand, with the only sound being the swish of palm trees? Well you are doing it all wrong!! Sure that might be okay of an hour or so, but not for an entire holiday! You need people, and plenty of them. That's why Al Fresco holidays are perfect for fun, because we are ideal for holidays with plenty of people - especially with our exclusive group discount. When you book more than one mobile, on the same park for the same duration you can save up to 50% off the cost of your holiday - that's 50% more fun to be had for free!

There are plenty of reasons to invite everyone on holiday with you - even Auntie Lynn (although don't mention the last Christmas!)

BABYSITTINGThe great thing about holidaying with friends and family is the built in babysitting. Kids enjoying themselves can make some of the best memories on any holiday, but

there are only so many times you can stand and watch them go down the pool slide! By taking it in turns to look after the kids all the adults get a little more time to do the grown up stuff - like take the perfect selfie!

YOUR OWN SPACEOur mobile homes are brilliant. They come with fully equipped kitchens, bedrooms and decking - which means should you have had 'too much fun' with cousin Tom and his water gun, you can relax in your home from home, with some well deserved 'me' time. Maybe even make yourself a snack and enjoy a cold drink on the decking - after all you are on holiday!

INSTANT COMPANYUs Brits love our holidays, but it can take us a while to start chatting with our neighbours - especially if we are nervous about speaking a different language. By holidaying with your friends and family you don't need to worry about any of that. And if you do fancy chatting to your neighbours, just wait until Uncle Clive had sparked up a conversation and join in!

Our holidays are perfect for large groups and extended family holidays. By booking multiple mobile homes for the same duration, not only can you all have your own space but you could save up to 50% on the cost of your holiday!

This offer is available through our friendly UK-based call centre. Call them on 0161 332 8900 and ask about your mobile home group discount. Alternatively, talk to your travel agent - they will also be able to book your perfect group stay with your full discount.

For full terms and conditions visit www.alfresco-holidays.com/groups

YOU DON'T NEED HOLIDAY TOGETHER TO STILL SAVEWe all know some of our best holiday memories are made with big family get togethers. But, sometimes... how can we put this delicately... it's nice to take a break without ALL the extended family! So, even if you don't choose a group holiday you can still grab a saving with our Refer a Friend discount. For every new booking you refer, you and your friend (or family member) will receive a £50 discount.

CE

Our nearest neighbour is our favourite driving destination, and it’s easy to see why! But whilst you wend your way through fabulous terrain don’t forget to sample its produce.

The great thing about driving to your Al Fresco holiday is you can load up the car

with everything you need and a few other things you may not! But whilst you are packing make sure you have a few essentials; In France you must have a warning triangle and an unused, certified (with an ‘NF’ number) breathalyser in your car (available from places like Halfords), as well as a reflective jacket within reach - in case you break down.

Once these are packed make sure you have some room to pick up some of France’s finest produce along the way. No matter what your tipple is, you’ll find it on our road trips, and even if you don’t partake, the world’s best booze happens to be produced in some of the world’s most beautiful countryside! Whilst we have covered some amazing wines on our road trips, we would strongly advise any driver to wait until you get to your Al Fresco Holidays destination before sampling anything you may have bought. That way you can relax and enjoy the best of what France has to offer.

ROUTE 1After exploring the history packed sites of the D-Day landings around La Vallee, the first leg of the journey is to Paris. Stage 1 is the Palace of Versaille, home of France’s Kings until the French Revolution. Whilst the Palace may not be as opulent as when Louis XVI left to be beheaded, it is a stunning building. Stage 2 is Paris. Whilst there is so much to see and do in one of Europe’s greatest cities, a quick drive around the Arc de Triomphe is enough to put most people off attempting to drive through it. Save it for another trip! The journey between Paris and stage 3 is a reward in itself, but the destination also happens to be the home of Champagne! Enjoy a tour of a grand Champagne house or pick up some great value fizz from a smaller producer.

ROUTE 2A short journey from Sequoia Parc is stage 1, the home of the world’s finest brandy - Cognac. Stage 2 is the city of Bordeaux

Booze! The French are famous for many things beginning with B: bicycles, baguettes, berets. But it is booze they do maybe better than anyone else in the world! Sure the Germans have their beer and us Brits have our gin, but when it comes to everything else our glasses are definitely half empty in comparison to our neighbours.

Let’s start with what they are most renowned for - wine. French wine is defined by its ‘Terroir’ a word as hard to pronounce as it is to explain! Ask any French winemaker what it is and they will list every single thing which affects the grapes - from the soil, to the sun, to the insects and down to what the winemaker was wearing! And they are right, because the word is about a sense of place, about where that wine, in that bottle comes from. When you stop at one of the many amazing vineyards, littering the French countryside and taste their wine, you are experiencing something unique to that area - maybe even to a single field! That’s why the French are so proud of the wine they produce - and with pride comes passion and skills developed over generations. So when you’re enjoying one of those bottles on your mobile home decking, whilst the sun goes down, you’re drinking in the

very history of a small part of France. And that has got to be worth the price!

When you talk about French wine it’s hard not to mention Champagne. This famous fizz is produced using the Champagne method or méthode classique, where the wine is fermented in barrels and then undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle. They add yeast and sugar to the bottle - which creates the bubbles - then the bottles are stacked neck down, so all the ‘lees’ (solids from the fermentation process) collect in the neck of the bottle. During this time, which is usually at least 18 months, the bottles are turned ever so slightly each day. After this lengthy process they do something very clever - they freeze the very top of the bottle, so the bit with the solids in becomes ice! Then they open the bottle and the icey part is taken out, and the cork and familiar ‘cage’ are fitted. This process is called disgorging and it is what gives the wine its fizz, flavour and mystique.

And when you’ve had enough of wine you can move on to brandy - and the best brandy is, of course, French! Named after the town in the area it originates from.

You don’t have to enjoy a tipple to enjoy France, but if you do France couldn’t be more perfect!

- home to La Cité Du Vin, where you will discover everything there is to know about wine. You can then put your newly found knowledge to the test, as you drive through the countryside which is home to Bordeaux wine producing vineyards, by stopping and picking up a few bottles of this amazing red!

ROUTE 3Whilst the French make stunning red wines, they also make some of the world’s best whites. Stage 1 is the town who produces one of those - Chablis. All the grapes

which make this famous wine have to be grown within a strict local area. Chablis is made with Chardonnay grapes, but unlike other Chardonnay wines, the cool climate produces a more delicate wine. A trip through stage 2, Burgundy, means checking out its famous wines, with some amazing producers en route

Stage 3 is Dijon - not only home to the famous mustard, it is also home to an amazing history dating back to before the Romans settled there, and the picturesque city enjoys a mix of architecture which rewards a visit.

EATING UP THE MILES

We may love our fish & chips, but when it comes to cuisines the UK can’t get enough of pasta, parmigiano and all things Italiano.

W ith all Al Fresco holidays being self catering you are

free to explore the food in your part of Europe. If you are lucky enough to be heading to one of our Italian parks then you are in for a treat.

ROUTE 4If you like stunning scenery to go with your delicious food then this trip through Tuscany will fill you up. Stage 1 is the iconic city of Florence, whose skyline is as impressive as it is famous. Stage 2 is the medieval hill

town of San Gimignano - filled with amazing history and great restaurants, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. With stage 3 being the picture perfect city of Siena, you’ll spend most of this trip taking photos of these beautiful places.

ROUTE 5 “In fair Verona, where we lay our scene” No visit to Verona, stage 1, would be complete without seeing Juliet’s balcony from Shakespeare’s most famous play. And no visit to Italy would be complete without seeing a Ferrari or 200! Stage 2 is Maranello - the home of the prancing horse and where you’ll find The Ferrari Museum.

A short drive brings you to stage 3 and I hope by this time you’re hungry, because Bologna is the culinary heart of Italy. They take their pasta so seriously in this city, there is a piece of tagliatelle made out of solid gold, kept in the town hall, which is made to the exact width and thickness the pasta

has to be to be considered real tagliatelle. And as any Italian will tell you, it’s the only correct pasta to serve with Ragu Bolognese! You’ll never look at Tuesday night’s Spag Bol quite the same way again!

ROUTE 6Having seen the great architec-ture of Rome from a distance stage 1 gives you a chance to see amazing buildings close up. Rocca Di Papa has to be seen to be believed, with an incredi-ble array of dwellings seemingly clinging to the hillside, almost on top of each other.

Luckily stunning scenery is what this part of Italy has in abundance. On the way it’s worth taking in stage 2, the

breath taking palace at Caserta which doubled as Queen Amidala’s residence in the Star Wars films.

Stage 3 is Pompeii - the city destroyed in 79AD after the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius. Neighbouring Herculaneum shouldn’t be overlooked as it much more complete and better preserved.

It’s hard to believe something as ubiquitous as pizza actually has a home - but Naples (stage 4) is it. This is where the world’s greatest food was invented and is still considered to be the best place for pizza. Order a margherita and enjoy the most authentic pizza there is. SPANISH FLY-DRIVESpain is perfect for a fly-drive holiday, with great weather and plenty to see, you can fly there quickly and explore at your leisure.

W hilst people used to flock to Spain simply for the weather,

there is so much more to this spectacular country than just sun! Recently we have taken their cuisine to our hearts with Spanish restaurants popping up in our towns and Tapas dishes even appearing on our supermarket shelves. Whilst we love tucking into some chorizo and patatas bravas in front of the telly, nothing beats experiencing Spanish food in Spain - especially whilst exploring the landscape and seeing the sights

Like all European countries, Spain has rules and regulations different from our own when it

comes to driving. Make sure you have enough fuel, because it is illegal to carry spare petrol in your car, and oddly you can also be fined for running out of ‘gasolina’ on certain main roads! Their motorways have tolls at regular intervals, so whilst there are often fairly quiet and the quickest route, the tolls can add up! And unlike the UK motorway network, there is a minimum speed limit on Spanish motorways of 60km/h (37mph).

ROUTE 7This road trip is the tale of

two Costas - starting in Brava and ending in Dorada, with

the iconic city of Barcelona in between. This journey is especially a treat for all sports fans with the route taking in three of Spain’s premier football clubs. Stage 1 is the city of Girona, famous for its medieval

Jewish quarter and cathedral - both of which appeared in Game of Thrones! It is also home to football club #1 on this route - Girona FC. Stage 2 takes us to the popular city of Barcelona, and whilst this route

doesn’t explore the amazing architecture, or food of this vibrant city, our holiday parks located in both Costa Brava and Costa Dorada are perfectly positioned as a base to make the most of the Catalan capital.

RCD Espanyol were founded in 1900 and despite being founder members of Spain’s top division, they have the dubious record of the highest number of seasons in La Liga without actually winning the title.

Stage 3 is a break from football and a chance to enjoy all the major tourist sights in the Catalonia region in one place, in miniature! Which means more sightseeing and less walking! Entrance to Catalunya en Miniatura is €13.50 (€11.50 if bought online).

Stage 4 is home to one of the world’s biggest football teams FC Barcelona and no football fan will be able to resist a tour of their famous Nou Camp stadium.

A fabulous example of the history of Spain can be found in stage 5, the Cathedral of the city of Tarragona. The site of which was previously home to a temple of Emperor Augustus - showing the city’s Roman roots. And there is no better place to see that history first hand than at the spectacular Roman amphitheatre which overlooks the Mediterra-nean Sea.

ROUTE 8This route has something for everyone - waterpark for thrills and spills, spectacular roads with amazing sea views and picture perfect seaside town for that holiday Instagram post!

Pack your towels because at stage 1 you are going to get wet! Aqua Brava has 19 water-based attractions suitable for all different ages. From child friendly ones like Pirate Island to ones called Kamikaze for the more adventurous! It also has Europe’s largest wave pool, which is the perfect place to relax for all the family.

Stage 2 on this trip is the road itself. As you cross the border from Spain to France the road changes from the N260 (Spain) to the D914 (France). This stretch of road takes in some amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea and is a pretty spectacular piece of tarmac, somehow threading its way through the landscape. It is the kind of road they would use in a Top Gear road test - where you have to stop occasionally to admire the view.

Although it is a Spanish road trip, stage 3 is the French fishing port of Collioure, which still has a Catalan flavour to it. Made famous by visits from artists such as Picasso and Matisse, it is easy to see what drew them to this picturesque place.

INTERIOR ISTRIAHome to some of Europe’s best kept tourism secrets and some of our most stunning parks, don’t overlook Croatia when you are booking your next Al Fresco holiday.

D riving all the way to Croatia may be a little bit too much, but this

undiscovered gem is the perfect fly-drive destination.

ROUTE 9The heart-shaped peninsula of Istria defies expectation with its stunning scenery, beautiful beaches and picturesque towns.

Stage 1 and just 9km from Park Umag departure stage is the town of Umag. As you walk around this delightful port town you can still see the remains of its 10th century walls.

If you like your food then stage 2 is worth a visit. Buje is a hilltop town in the north of the region and surrounded by vineyards (it would be rude not to at least try

some of the local vino!) and over 50,000 olive trees which produce some of the countries award winning olive oil.

Stage 3 is the Lim valley or Limski Kanal as the locals call it, is a 35km long narrow canyon that would give Norway’s finest fjords a run for their money in the spectacular stakes, and is the perfect backdrop for a ‘just out

for a drive’ Facebook post! It is hard to forget stage 4,

Pula, was founded by the Romans when you see the Arena - an amazing first century amphitheatre which once housed 20,000 watching gladiators and chariot races. It’s not just historic sites in the city, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to sample modern Croatian hospitality.

1. TWO HOLIDAYS IN ONECan’t decide between a brilliant mobile home camping holiday on one of Europe’s top holiday parks and a cruise for your next holiday? Now you don’t have to! A ferry is basically a mini cruise ship – so now you can have both!

2. SHOP ON THE GOSo you’re travelling to your holiday and you can shop. No stopping. No losing time. You can shop as much as you want whilst still getting there. Genius!

3. YOUTUBE? YOU BETCHA!‘Look at this, look! Look!’ as a phone is poked in your face, no longer needs to be met with ‘What are you doing, can’t you see I’m driving’ – now you can actually look at whatever annoying song the kids are trying to show you on YouTube without any danger at all.

4. WEE? OUI!No longer will your journey be filled with having to say ‘We’ve only just left, how can you possibly need the toilet?’ With plenty of facilities on ferries, there’ll be no need to interrupt your journey for visits to the smallest room!

5. ROOM WITH A VIEWNo need to try and sleep upright in the world most uncomfortable chair as you would on an plane or train. If you take an overnight crossing you can get some serious kip in an actual bed, and wake up ready for the next leg feeling refreshed AND wearing clean pants!

6. WATER VIEW!There is something magical about being on the deck of a boat – with the vast sky above and the endless waves below - that being stuck in a metal tube cannot even come near. And let’s be honest it’s impossible to recreate the ‘King of The World’ scene from the Titanic movie on a train! (And we’ve tried!)

7. PAID IN FULLJust like Al Fresco Holidays, your price for your ferry is per party - not per person. So if Auntie Lynn decides she wants to pop along with you at the last minute, it’s all good. Although make sure she brings her own snacks – that lady can put away a bag of boiled sweets quicker than you can say ‘I’m sure I had a tin of barley sugars somewhere?’

8. SUPERMARKET SWEEPThe best thing about ferries is they dock at ports. And the best thing about ports is there is always a MASSIVE supermarket near them! This gives you the chance to get all the food and ‘refreshment’ you need for your Al Fresco holiday, as well as other essentials - like an inflatable doughnut for the pool, a massive bar of chocolate (flavour and contents unknown) and a outdoor games set you’ll never get out of your boot.

9. DRIVE ON DRIVE OFFThe magic of a ferry is you drive on and park, get out and walk around, and then when you get back in your car – which hasn’t moved – and drive off, you’re in a DIFFERENT COUNTRY! What sorcery is this?!?

10. THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHTNo more chants of ‘Are we there yet?’ from bored small people - ferries are perfect for keeping those little ones busy and out of mischief. Meanwhile you can watch over them from somewhere warm, comfortable and preferably serves beer!

THE FERRY BEST WAY TO TRAVEL THERE IS A REASON WHY BOATS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SEEN AS A CIVILISED WAY TO TRAVEL - BECAUSE THEY ARE! SO PACK YOUR STEAMER TRUNKS HERE’S TEN REASONS TO TRAVEL BY FERRY!

L azing by the pool is as much a part of a great holiday as a trip to the beach, to paddle in the waves, or

buying paprika flavoured crisps from the local supermarche! But if you’re one of those people who likes to get their heart pumping and the adrenalin flowing, then take advantage of some of Europe’s top theme parks - which happen to be close to some of our top-rated parks.

Many of the big theme parks have direct public transport links, so ask your friendly Al Fresco Holidays Rep for the best way to get there.

BE PREPARED In all the excitement of a day out it can be easy to forget the essentials. 1. Sun cream - you may not be lounging by the pool, but you are often standing around in the sun for almost the whole day!

2. Snacks - in all the excitement hunger can sneak up on you, and all of a sudden you are starving and grumpy! Keep the family topped up with energy-packed snacks and everyone will stay happy.3. Water - Whilst a day on the roller coasters isn’t ideal to drink your eight glasses a day, take water with you so you can stay hydrated.4. Plan - different people often want to go on different rides and sometimes it means people miss out, research the parks and see what rides are suitable for different members of the family.5. Time - Getting to a theme park early means a long day, but with the queues to the most popular rides filling up fast, it’s best to head to them early on.6. Budget - Theme parks are experts at seperating you from your cash, so set yourself a budget and stick to it.

TAKE OFF TIPSFLYING AT THE RIGHT TIME TO THE RIGHT PLACE CAN SAVE YOU A

PRETTY PENNY ON YOUR HOLIDAY SPEND. POP THE KETTLE ON, CRACK OPEN THE CUSTARD CREAMS AND HERE'S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

FLYING TO COSTA BRAVA Don’t always search for flights from your nearest airport, it may be that cheaper carriers take off elsewhere! Doing the travelling to a different airport this side of your destination can often save you more money through flight cost per person than spending a bit more on airport parking etc.

For flights into Costa Brava’s Girona airport, charter flights with TUI can often be at the dearer end of the scale, so look into alternative flights from other nearby UK airports for better deal. Direct flights are available from the following UK airports into Girona: Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London (LGW, LTN, STN), Manchester, and NewcastleAirlines: Jet2, Ryanair, TUI, Thomas Cook

FLYING TO COTE D’AZURThe best thing that can happen when you’re searching for flights is choice. Lots of airlines and flights means lots of different days and times to travel, and most importantly more opportunities for a bargain! Luckily for you, Nice Airport has direct flights from pretty much all UK airports: Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London (LHR, LGW, LTN, STN), Manchester and Newcastle.

You can also travel into Marseille airport which is around a 2 hour drive to our furthest park (Green Park). Flights from the UK into Marseille leave from Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London (LTN, STN) and Manchester.Airlines: British Airways, Easyjet, Jet2, Ryanair

FLYING TO LANGUEDOC/ROUSSILLONBeziers and Perpignan are the closest airports to our parks in both these regions. Unfortunately these airports aren’t as well served as some others, with very limited Ryanair flights from the UK. You can fly directly into Beziers from Bristol, Edinburgh, Luton, Manchester or Stansted, and into Perpignan from just Birmingham or Stansted.

But worry not, as an alternative, you can fly into surrounding airports such as Carcassonne – which has direct flights from Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London (LGW, STN) or Manchester.

Even though it may feel like you’re flying out of your way, all our parks in this region

are within a 90 min drive of CarcassonneAirlines: Easyjet, Ryanair

FLYING TO THE VENETIAN RIVIERASometimes the most obvious airport is the best place to start. For our amazing Venetian parks you’ll find nearly everyone has routes into Venice Marco Polo. Because so many carriers have flights going to here there are always bargains to be had in the competition to fill seats.

Flights into Venice Marco Polo: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London (STN, LGW, LHR, LTN, SEN) and Manchester,

If you can fly from Edinburgh, East Midlands or Manchester look at Venice Treviso, a similar distance to our parks as Marco Polo, but usually has lower fares.Airlines: Easyjet, British Airways,Ryanair, Jet2, TUI

FLYING TO LAKE GARDAAll our picturesque Lake Garda parks are in close proximity to Verona airport – which has flights direct from: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London (LHR, LGW, STN), Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton airports. However, alternatively you can fly in to nearby Milan Bergamo for a very similar price or often even cheaper price with low cost airline Ryanair. Flights from the UK into Milan Bergamo take off from Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh London (STN, SEN) and Manchester. Airlines: Easyjet, Ryanair, TUI

FIND YOUR ROUTES ON ALFRESCO-HOLIDAYS.COMWe’ve teamed up with Skyscanner so you can find the best way to get to your Al Fresco holiday. Just click on the Travel tab on any of our campsite pages, put your preferred departure airport in the Flights section and it’ll find all the routes that you can take.

TRAVEL TOP TIPS

1 Instead of a dozen travel adaptors take one and a single multi-plug extension lead.

2 To stop any bottles from leaking, wrap some cling film over the bottle’s opening before

screwing the lid back on.

3 Thread necklaces through paper straws prevents them from tangling.

4 For earrings, fasten each pair to the holes of a button on shirt or dress.

5 Rolling your clothes saves on space and any need for ironing.

6 Dirty shoes? Pop them mucky-side down into a shower cap and put them at the bottom of your

suitcase.

7 Wear a jacket with a lot of pockets as part of your in-transit outfit. It means more storage

space and the plane will be cold anyway!

8 Tucking your underwear and belts into the cups of a bra or inside a pair of shoes helps them to

maintain their shape.

9 A lightweight scarf will not only keep you warm, it can also be placed on top of your head when it’s

hot and over your nose and mouth when it’s windy.

10 During your holiday, separate your dirty clothes into two pillowcases (whites and

darks). When you get home, they’ll be ready to throw into the washing machine!

• If you’re looking for transfers (transport from the airport to your holiday park), we can book these with your holiday. You can then pay these off with the remainder of your balance (as long as it’s not within 12 weeks of travel) Transfers can be added up until 7 days before departure.

• Don’t stress about car hire – to secure the best price, for only a small deposit, book it with us when you book your holiday.

• Sometimes travelling mid-week on flights can help get lower flight costs – so if you’re flexible with departure dates and holiday durations you’ll often find a better price.

Nothing beatsLOUNGING

AROUND

The verb ‘to lounge’ isn’t always complimentary, but when it comes to Al Fresco mobile

homes, it becomes the only word you want to use!

Our lounge model mobile homes - including our latest Toscanini and Da Vinci models - usually feature an extended decking area with bespoke lounge furniture. Our decking is a way of bringing the outside into your mobile home and it’s where our customers end up spending most of their time, especially with our upgraded comfy lounge chairs!

Our lounges also feature a canopy, so you can keep cool and relax on your

decking in the shade. If you upgrade to a lounge model you’ll also receive an upgraded BBQ (where permitted).

EATING AL FRESCOWe know our customers love to eat al fresco. Our decking is perfect for family dining and watching the sun set whilst enjoying a glass of fizz. Because our customers can’t wait to get grilling when they get to their mobile home, we thought we’d help you out by offering some top tips on the next page, on getting the most from the coals.

BBQ LIKE A BOSS NOTHING SAYS BBQ BEGINNER LIKE CREMATING A SAUSAGE, BUT

THERE’S MORE TO COOKING OVER COALS THAN JUST TURNING MEAT INTO CHARCOAL - HERE ARE OUR TOP TEN BBQ TIPS

WHY NOT UPGRADE TO ONE OF OUR LOUNGE MOBILE HOMES ON YOUR NEXT

AL FRESCO HOLIDAY?

1. YOU’RE IN CONTROL It is easy to panic when your sausages start to catch or your burgers cause flames to lick your elbows. Have a plate on standby where you can move your grilled goodies should they start to burn, or when you have a flare up – then finish them off when everything is back under control.

2. MARINADES MAKETH THE MEATNever underestimate how much better steak tastes when it has sat it a simple marinate of oil, vinegar, soy, mustard and garlic for a few hours. Chicken loves Indian spice infused yoghurt and fish can’t get enough of a quick dip with oil, garlic, lemon and chopped herbs. Basically, just marinate to the max.

3. IT'S HOT!By their very nature BBQs are hot. Very hot. So you need the correct tools for the job – make sure you have a good pair of long tongs and not just a fork out the cutlery drawer! You are there to cook the food not yourself!

4. PUT A LID ON ITNever has the phrase ‘use it if you got it’ been more apt. The lid on your BBQ is an important friend and should be used as much as possible. It serves two great purposes – it stops flare ups and gives your food more of a smoky flavour, as the smoke surrounds the food and is absorbed more. Plus the ‘mini oven’ it creates means the food cooks more evenly.

5. IF YOU FAIL TO PLAN...You can’t just light a BBQ and stick everything on it willy-nilly, that way chaos lies! You have to have a plan. What takes longest to cook? What suits a high heat? What will people want to eat first? Is it really worth cooking those vegetable kebabs that no one really wants?

6. TAKE YOUR TIME Don’t rush it, let your coals get a covering of white ash on them before you start grilling and give your gas BBQ a chance to heat up before you start. Remember food will stick to a cold grill, so make sure your grill is good and hot before you start those sausages.

7. VARIATION, THAT'S WHAT YOU NEED Most people have all their BBQ as one heat and that is why when something starts to burn it just keeps burning! If you are cooking on a gas BBQ have one burner on high and one burner on the lowest setting, and if you are cooking with charcoal, bank your coals on one side, so the coals which are further away from the food creates a cooler area. Once you have a nice colour from the hot side, move your food over to the cooler area and let it cook through.

8. CHEERS TO THE BEERSWhilst you should never attempt to BBQ if you’ve had a few too many ‘refreshments’, having a bottle of beer to hand when you are tackling the charcoal can be beneficial. Use to stop flare ups in their tracks and cool down any hot spots with a gentle sprinkling of the amber stuff.

9. PREPARE FOR SACRIFICESAs you battle with your barbie here will be casualties and when it comes to the contest between coals and man that usually means at least a couple of sausages, if not one of those steaks that you had your eye on! Don’t try and rescue it, that will just lead to losing more – just accept it and move on. The BBQ gods will look more kindly upon you!

10. SAFETY FIRSTIt may sound obvious, but your BBQ should never be used on your mobile home wooden decking, and should be positioned at least 1m from your mobile home and anything combustible, that includes Aunty Lynn!!

Thank you!
