The term Bluetooth refers to an open specification fo
technology to enable short-range wireless voice andcommunications anywhere in the world.
Bluetooth is a standard for a small, low-cost, power eradio chip that can be used by computers, printers, phones, headsets, headphones, and numerous othe
electronics. This technology allows multiple devices tcommunicate with each other or one device can comanage several other devices.

Much in the same way that King Harald Bluetooth united DenmaNorway, Bluetooth was designed to unite computers, phone eqmany other electronics devices. Back in 1994, Ericsson MobileCommunications began a feasibility study on an inexpensive lo
radio solution between cell phones and phone accessories.
Four years later, Ericsson, along with Nokia, IBM, Toshiba and IntBluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). This association represencompanies in mobile telephony, notebook computers and a madigital signal processing technology.

Bluetooth takes the information normally cby a wire and transmits it at a special freqanother Bluetooth device. Both the sendin
receiving devices have what is called a Blreceiver chip, which translates data into atransmission and then back to normal agadepending on if it is sending or receiving d

Wireless cable replacement scenario.
The device that initiates the connection is calledMaster.
Any other devices the Master is connected to areferred to as Slaves.

The new device is discovered is added to the piand data can be transferred.
Up to seven slaves can be connected to one m
Slaves cannot pass data to other slaves withoutthrough the master.
The master defines the timing for the piconet.

Scatternets allow devices to be active in numerpiconets.
The device can be a slave in one piconet and ain another. It cannot be a master in two piconet
The device can act as a gateway from one pic

A master can create two types of logical channa slave device:
Asynchronous Connection Less (ACL): Packet SwSystem provides a reliable data connection witheffort bandwidth; depends on radio performancnumber of devices in the piconet.
Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO): CircuSwitched System provides real time unreliableconnection with a guaranteed bandwidth; usuafor voice based applications.

Bluetooth does not require a clear line of sight between the sdevices. This means that the devices need not be facing eacis also possible to carry out transfers when both the devices arooms.
The fact that this technology requires no cables and wires is shas made it so popular. With so many devices engulfing our lneed for clutter-free technology is becoming more intense.
The maximum range that it offers is 100 meters, but this rangesame for all similar connections. It depends on the nature of tand the version that they operate upon.

One major advantage is its simplicity of use. Anyone caout how to set up a connection and sync two devices w
Moreover, the technology is completely free to use andno charges to be paid to any service provider.
The processing power and battery power that it requireto operate is very low. This makes it an ideal tool for so melectronic devices, as the technology can be implemenpretty much anywhere.
The chances of other wireless networks interfering with yvery low. This is because of the low powered wireless sigthe technology adopts, and also because of somethingas frequency hopping.
