Uganda: Uganda is a comparative newcomer to Africa’s tourist destinations. Its beautiful natural environment and rich culture of traditional hospitality are its strong draw card. Here, one can experience the elemental power of meeting with the giant mountain gorilla, marvel at the human antics of wild chimpanzees, or share the magic of a country fast recovering from human tyranny. Perhaps the following brief description, by Sir Winston Churchill in his book “My African Journey,” best describes Uganda, “For magnificence, for variety of form and colour, for profusion of brilliant life - plant, bird, insect, reptile, beast - for vast scale...Uganda is truly the pearl of Africa.”

Zanzibar: After an exciting safari, why not add a visit to the island of Zanzibar. Known as the spice Island, Zanzibar is also famous for its beautiful beaches, rich culture and fascinating history. A former centre of spices and slave trade, present-day Zanzibar is infused with African, Arabic, European and Indian influences. Its original settlers were Bantu-speaking Africans. From the 10th century, Persians arrived. But it was the Arab incomers, particularly Omanis, whose influence would be paramount. The Arabs set up trading colonies and in 1832 the Omani sultan moved his capital from Muscat to Zanzibar, by now a major slave-trading hub. Zanzibar become an independent sultanate. The slave trade was abolished in 1873 and in 1890 the British declared Zanzibar a protectorate. It is a picturesque, cosmopolitan city, with winding streets, colorful bazaars, and interesting architecture. Of note are 67 mosques, two churches, three Hindu temples, the former sultan’s palace which now a Palace museum, a peoples market which was built in 1904 and Anglican Church which was a site of the Slave’s market, and to be seen also is the House of wonder, the Old fort and former English club which then known as Africa house.
