TESTED FOR HARMFUL SUBSTANCES

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is an independent test and certification system for textile raw, intermediate and end products at all stages of processing.

Examples of articles that can be certified: yarns, fabrics, treated fabrics, manufactured articles (clothing of all kinds, domestic and household textiles, bedding, towels, soft toys and many more).

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The tests for harmful substances cover:› legally banned and controlled substances› chemicals known to be harmful to the health (but not yet legally controlled)› parameters for health protection

Taken in their entirety, the requirements go far beyond existing national legislation.

LABORATORY TESTS AND PRODUCT CLASSES The OEKO-TEX® testing for harmful substances is always geared towards how the textile will actually be used. The more closely the product is in contact with the skin, the stricter the human ecology requirements that it must meet. A distinction is made between four product classes:› Product class I: textile articles for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old (clothing, toys, bedding, towels etc.)› Product class II: textiles used close to the skin (underwear, bedding, T-shirts etc.)› Product class III: textiles used away from the skin (jackets, coats etc.)› Product class IV: furnishing materials (curtains, tablecloths, upholstery etc.)

CERTIFICATION The prerequisite for textile products to be certified under the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is that all components of an article, without exception, comply with the required criteria - so not only the outer material, but also the sewing threads, linings, prints etc and any non-textile accessories such as buttons, zips, rivets etc.

ODOUR CONTROL : NEUTRALISING & PREVENTING

MOISTURE MANAGEMENT

Odour breakdown is a technology that absorbs and neutralizes malodours originating from chemical source.

The combination of Bi-ome and Odour Breakdown in Bi-ome OB creates dual activity: prevention of malodours from a biological source and neutralising the chemical unpleasant odours.

Bi-ome® is a BPR (incl. Turkey) and EPA registered solution that guarantees optimal freshness and hygiene.

Bi-ome is our highly effective, non-harmful, non-migrating odor controling technology for malodours originating from a biological source. Devan treats millions of pieces of clothing, which includes outdoor wear, socks, sports-wear and underwear for customers and retailers all over the world.

Combining Bi-ome with other functionalities, such as moisture management, stretch recovery, water repellency, etc is possible and will lead to unique combined features on the garment.

Passerelle SQD+ and MOOV&COOL® leave an ultrafine polymer layer on the textile surface and enhance the hydrophilicity of garments. The layer provides a means to wick moisture away from the skin surface and disperse it over a larger surface area to promote efficient evaporation from the textile surface.

Moisture management is not always about increasing hydrophilicity, it can also imply water repellency. Our product H20 Repel is a fluorine free technology that creates a breathable water repellency layer on garments.

Clothing textiles are prone to developping unpleasant odours while wearing them. The origin of the unpleasant smells can be from different origins : Biological and chemical. At Devan, we have found a way to disarm this discomfort with different technologies. All are environmentally safe and skin friendly.

Fabrics treated with Passerelle SQD+ demonstrate a silky soft touch and stretch recovery. They retain ‘a new look’ for a longer period of time thanks to the excellent colour retention and reduced fibrillation on washing. Furthermore the coating promotes efficient evaporation and moisture management.

DURABLE AND SOFTWe want to rely on what we wear to be easy to care for and long lastingly beautiful. Devan technologies offer softness, stretch recovery, color retention, stain removal and shrink-proof care for the most demanding fabrics.

Different types of stains (ketchup, mud, grass, tea,...) are easily removed from garments by washing when treated with Stainrelease. It is a fluorocarbon free, easy-to-applyand ready to use product.

Dylan cares for wool. By treating the fibre, this process makes wool washable, unshrinkable and possible to tumble dry, keeping its original shape.

Tones of Cool offers an instant cool sensation and reduces the skin temperature. The high thermal effusivity quickly draws heat away from the skin: on initial contact an instant cooling sensation is perceived.

Thermic® Quickdry is a patented reactive PCM technology that keeps the body’s heat production and heat loss in balance. The microencapsulated Phase Change Materials (PCMs) absorb the heat when temperature rises, store it, and release it again when the body cools down, maintaining the body in its comfort zone.

Devan skincare technologies can boost textiles with a range of ingredients that offer extra protection against free radicals, ageing, pollution, UV. R-vital® - Our skin is the ideal means of transportation for revitalising solutions. With ageing, our bodies’ natural protection against free radicals declines. FUNCTIONALITY LOCKED INTO THE FIBRE

@2spin® is a range of solid masterbatch additives, giving different functionalities to a wide range of fibres. Functionalities include: soft touch, flame retardant properties, dyeable PP and antimicrobial.

How it worksThe functional masterbatches need to be added during the extrusion process prior to the melting of the polymer by means of a dosing unit. Different @2spin® products are available for different polymers, including PP, PA, PES or PTT. All our innovations are tested on the Spin Master, a semi-industrial extrusion and spinning line developed to facilitate and accelerate the transfer of technology from lab scale to industrial scale.

PROTECTION

In conditions where safety and health are vital, Devan solutions offer protection.

Ecoflam FR technologies are halogen free, protecting people and the environment.

Our Insecta® product range provides insect repellency (mosquitoes, thicks, ...) during outdoor activities. It is a patented microencapsu-lation technology, the active ingredient is released by friction. The capsules are reactive, no binders are used, the fabrics remain soft and breathable.

MICROENCAPSULATION Microcapsules are a great way of delivering functionality to textiles – whether that is cooling of bedding through PCM, enhancing a fabric with a special fragrance or providing health and wellness benefits directly to the skin. Devan’s long history of microcapsule technology means we can offer a wide selection of active substances to add to textiles, all with a wash-durable performance.

FR TREATMENTS Devan has been at the forefront of the development of novel flame retardant treatments for textiles – from halogen- and metal-free topical treatments to flame retardant masterbatch. We have a wide technical knowledge of the chemistry, the testing and the regulations for many applications, including all types of home textiles as well as the highly specialised fields of floor and seat coverings in aircraft, buses and trains.

POLYMERS Devan’s history in novel polymer development goes back almost 70 years to the technology for making wool shrink-proof. Our polymer expertise now expands into special finishes that improve the moisture management, stretch properties and after-wash appearance of a wide variety of textiles and we continue to develop further exciting new applications.

FUNCTIONAL MASTERBATCHThe application of chemicals during finishing is the most widely used means of adding functionality – or even just a softener – to textiles. But masterbatch technology gives new opportunities for putting the functionality right inside the fibre. A masterbatch is a concentrated functional additive that is added during the extrusion and spinning stage of making synthetic fibres and permanently modifies the fibre, for flame retardancy, softness, hydrophilicity and more.
