Paris, May 2002: On Vel’ d’Hiv’s 60th anniversary, journalist Julia Jarmond is asked to write an article about this black day in France’s past. Through her contemporary investigation, she stumbles onto a trail of long-hidden family secrets that connect her to Sarah. Julia finds herself compelled to retrace the girl’s ordeal, from that terrible time in the Vel d’Hiv’, to the camps, and beyond. For March, we will be showing The Theory of Everything. James Marsh’s biopic of the celebrated scientist Stephen Hawking, The Theory of Everything, stars Eddie Redmayne as the famous figure. Enrolled as a graduate student at Cambridge, Hawking establishes himself as one of the leading minds of his generation, and begins

to win the heart of Jane (Felicity Jones). After one of his earliest breakthroughs, Hawking is diagnosed with ALS, and he becomes less and less able to control his own body. With the loyal Jane at his side, he continues his work. However, as the years progress, Jane starts to feel more like a nurse than a wife, and Hawking begins to have feelings for a woman who is hired to care for him. Popcorn and refreshments will be on sale. Movie Sponsor: American Senior Communities

-UPCOMING EVENTS-Page 8

Brackets for goodThe Social has once again been chosen to be 1 of 64 area charities to participate in Brackets for Good. They use the bracketology model of the NCAA. We are the only Green-wood based charity that was selected to participate. In round one of the “tournament” which runs 2/27-3/6 we are matched against Nathan’s Playroom. We need your help to raise more online funds than they do so we can continue to advance. The team which raises the most funds on-line in that time period will advance to the next round. All charities keep all funds they raise plus winners of each round receive prize money. If we have your email address, we will be sending you more details soon on how you can participate in this initiative. If you do not, stop in The Social and we can direct you on how you can help us “score”. All pro-ceeds will be applied to the further renovations to our facility including the parking lot. The team which secures the most do-nations in a certain time frame wins each round. Round one begins at 8:00 pm on February 27 and ends at 7:59 pm on March 6. Winning will require more than just you making a single donation. We will need you each round. It will also require you to involve your friends. Bring them to The Social so they can participate. Visit our website and ask others to do the same. Share our posts on Face-book with all your social networking friends, and even tweet about it on Twitter using the hashtag # BFG15 You might be asked to help us make a video, staff a phone calling cam-paign or bring in items needed for promotion. Whether your role is do-nor, actor, prop supplier, phone so-licitor- we are all part of The Social TEAM.
