DAYS 1First Impressions ...Step out into the sun of San Jose, the Costa Rican capital, alongside your fellow People to People travelers and meet your enthusiastic local guide. Soak up your new surroundings as you explore the city for the very first time. Uncover San Jose’s colonial history and Spanish culture during a tour of this breath-taking city. Make yourself at home following your arrival at your ideally located hotel and settle down for your first taste of Costa Rican cuisine. DAY 3Explosive FunFollowing a day spent with a rich variety of wild animals, help out their less fortunate brothers and sisters at an animal rescue center. The work carried out by ‘Proyecto Asis’ is vital for the survival of many of the region’s animal populations.

Make a meaningful contribution together with the team at the rescue center while taking part in a specially arranged educational activity. Following lunch at a local restaurant, head out on a hike across the Arenal Volcano National Park.

DAY 4Tropical RainforestsSet out into the Sarapiqui Rainforest. Explore the abundant flora and fauna that makes up this lowland tropical rainforest as you trek through lush vegetation. Discover an area rich in bio-diversity and attempt to understand the scientific reasons that lead to certain species thriving over others.

After a bite to eat, visit La Quinta de Sarapiqui for an insight into a vital part of the forests eco-system –leaf cutter ants! Learn the secrets of a species that exhibits astonishing organization skills on a specially designed educational tour.

DAY 4

DAY 5Setting SailEmbark on a boat tour along the twists and turns of the Sarapiqui River. Wind your way along the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, as you sail serenely past an amazing assortment of river based wild-life you just wouldn’t be able to see any other way.

DAY 7Life’s a BeachMake your way to the magnificent Jaco Beach Area, a place of crystal clear seas, home to a rich variety of animals and vegetation. Visit the celebrated Guacalillo Beach for a guided boat tour. Uncover iguanas, macaws, monkeys and many species of birds. During your adventure, don’t forget to keep a look out for the crocodiles! Following lunch you’ll be able to relax at the beach (away from the crocs) where you can soak up the sun and get back to nature in style while snapping a selfie or two. On your way back to San Jose, stop off to grab some last minute souvenirs for family and friends at home.
