Charleston is the oldest and second-largest city in South Carolina and is renowned for its rich history, architecture and southern charm.

From the UK, fly into Charlotte where you’ll make a short one hour connecting flight down to Charleston. Winner of the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller Readers Award for 2013 as the Best City in America for its outstanding beauty, history, great restaurants, shopping and nightlife, Charleston is the perfect setting to experience golf in South Carolina.

The Francis Marion Hotel was built in 1924 and has been recently restored to its original grandeur. Situated in downtown Charleston, you can access the many courses in the area in just 30 minutes.

There are more than twenty world-class courses situated on the breath-taking coastal terrain surrounding Charleston ranging from true links style to tightly wooded low country layouts.

Located on the east coast just 20 miles south of Charleston is Kiawah Island - home of the infamous Ryder Cup battle ‘the war on the shore’ in 1991 and Rory's 2012 USPGA victory. Kiawah is rarely out of the tournament spotlight having hosted an enviable array of PGA events.

On the famed Ocean Course, it's the Pete Dye design that is arguably one of the world’s great layouts. Joining an all-star cast are the four other courses at Kiawah – all boasting designers including Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Fazio. The Resort is perfectly positioned along the Atlantic coastline. The Sanctuary is the height of luxury and one of the world’s great hotels, and the resort villas are a perfect self-catering option.

Pinehurst No 2

North & South Carolina

Pinehurst Resort Charleston

Kiawah IslandSituated on the East Coast of the United States, the states of North and South Carolina are a mecca for golfers looking for exceptional courses amongst stunning scenery. North Carolina is home to over 430 golf courses with legendary designers including Tom Fazio, Rees Jones and Robert Trent Jones Junior all putting their names to courses in the region. Arguably one of the most famous resorts in the USA, Pinehurst is ideally located in the heart of North Carolina; two hours’ drive from Charlotte Douglas airport and just over an hour from Raleigh Durham airport. South Carolina is a true golfing paradise. With over 360 championship calibre golf courses you’ll find exceptional destinations such as Kiawah Island and Hilton Head, as well as the famous Myrtle Beach. The breath-taking views and elevation changes, along with gorgeous layouts along the lakes, rivers and beaches across the state create a stunning landscape to enjoy some of the best golf in the USA.

Golf is playable year-round in The Carolinas with mid-summer temperatures as you’d expect in a southern state hitting around 28°C with spring and autumn being perfect for golf when things are a little cooler.

The largest golf resort in the USA, Pinehurst is laid out over 5,500 acres of land with the first golf course – No.1 - opening in 1897. Perhaps one of the unique features of Pinehurst is the collection of courses that have been over a century in the making. With eight courses of differing age and design, variety sits perfectly alongside quality.

Pinehurst’s best known course, Pinehurst No. 2 was completed in 1907 and in 2014 will host both the US Open and US Women’s Open Championships marking the first time in history that both tournaments have been played in the same year on the same course.

There are four accommodation options within the village – The Holly Inn, The Carolina, The Manor and more relaxed accommodation in the on-site condos. The wonderful Holly Inn, with 82 guest rooms, is an upmarket hotel that houses Pinehurst's best four-diamond restaurant, the 1895 grille.

With 60 miles of golf-packed coastline and more than 110 courses to enjoy, it’s little wonder that Myrtle Beach is such a popular golf holiday destination. Variety is the real beauty of this region. The choice of golf courses is almost endless and you will find many of the great names amongst the designers in the region; Norman, Fazio, Love and Dye to name just a few.

There are a stunning selection of resorts to choose from including the Scottish inspired Legends Golf & Resort or Myrtlewood Villas & Golf Resort – ideal for groups and just one mile from central Myrtle Beach. The Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, another great choice, offers beautiful views out across the Intracoastal Waterway.

Away from the fairways, the action is centered around the Broadway on the Beach – a pedestrianized zone providing a plethora of entertainment, restaurants and nightlife options. Myrtle Beach is known as a holiday town so you can expect great beaches and lively nightlife. With all of this available, it’s clear that South Carolina golf breaks don’t come much better than those on offer in the ‘Grand Strand’.

The spectacular 18-hole championship Resort Course at Grande Dunes has been gently sculpted out of naturally wooded landscape and set on high ground offering panoramic views over the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, the waterway and maritime forest. Using many elevation changes, wide Bermuda grass fairways and 34 acres of lakes, this parkland course is a real pleasure to play and one of the best in the Myrtle Beach area. If staying onsite at the delightful Marina Inn, you also have the opportunity to play the Members Course at Grande Dunes – similar in style to the Resort Course with wide Bermuda grass fairways and contoured greens. The Marina Inn offers a luxurious 5* retreat within the Grande Dunes resort. The 200 rooms and villas are spacious and all offer views over the Intracoastal Waterway.

You’ll find two courses onsite at Myrtlewood Golf Club - the Palmetto Course is highly popular and a favourite among locals with its wide, fairways that wind through stunning pine forests. Look out for a multitude of hazards hidden away – particularly the bunkers which will have you testing your sand play. Its sister course, Pine Hills, is the only course in Myrtle Beach to have been designed by award-winning architect Arthur Hills and is arguably tougher than its counterpart. It asks for skillfully planned and placed shots amongst its many water hazards and you’ll love the beautifully manicured finish. Ideal for groups looking for a self-catering option, Myrtlewood Villas & Golf Resort is located in the heart of Myrtle Beach and offers great one and two bedroom apartments. The villas are set within the rolling fairways of Myrtlewood Golf Club and are just one mile away from the world famous ‘Broadway at the Beach’ – the hub for bars, restaurants and evening entertainment.

The Carolinas - Myrtle Beach

Joe Dent, USA Sales ConsultantYou'll find that you could save by travelling in the peak of summer - just make sure that you pick early tee times for the golf as it will get up near 30˚C in the middle of the day.

Legends Golf & Resort is a Scottish inspired venue and is home to five outstanding courses and a mixture of luxurious two and three bedroomed villas - perfect for golfers wanting a bit more flexibility. The resort facilities are second to none including the three onsite golf courses – The Moorland, Heathland and Parkland. There are two further courses just a short drive away, Oyster Bay and Heritage Golf Course.

The Moorland provides the greatest challenge and is considered one of ‘The’ courses to play along the east coast due to its sculptured terrain and deep sinking bunkers. The Heathland has a distinct links feel with beautiful views across the coastline whereas the Parkland course – the newest addition – is more diverse with tree-lined fairways and multi-level greens.

With 43 years of tradition, The Sea Pines Resort was the first resort on the Island and many still deem it to be the finest. Luxury, splendour and history define Hilton Head’s original resort which is located on 5,000 acres of ocean front – a third of Hilton Head Island. Accommodation options are flexible with The Inn at Harbour Town offering 60 elegant guest rooms and suites or for a self-catering option there are villas also available.

On-site at The Sea Pines Resort is the Pete Dye designed Harbour Town Golf Links - one of the most distinguished US PGA Tour courses and regularly named in the Golf Digest Top 20 courses in the US. Its iconic par-4 18th overlooks the sweeping waterway known as the Calibogue Sound and you’re greeted by the famous hooped Harbour Town lighthouse as backdrop to the final green.

The Ocean Course is the oldest on Hilton Head and remains a favourite with visitors. A classic design – its strategically placed lagoons and bunkers make for a challenging round and you’ll embrace the true coastal experience – its 15th hole is one of only two oceanfront holes on the whole of the island. Heron Point is the newest addition to the Sea Pines Resort and a typical Pete Dye design. It has recently undergone a multi-million dollar transformation to offer a new and improved playing experience.

Situated on the edge of the Atlantic with warm sea breezes and white sandy beaches, The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa is the perfect environment to relax and unwind. The hotel is well located for golf at many of the great clubs on the Island. Guests are offered a golf pass allowing a choice of courses nearby including Palmetto Hall Plantation Golf Club, Oyster Reef and Shipyard Golf Club.

If you’d rather stay closer to home, Port Royal Golf Club has three picturesque courses for you to enjoy. Aside from the golf, you can also indulge in some fantastic shopping, visit the sugar white sandy beaches and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. The perfect place for a golfing getaway. The luxurious accommodation, fantastic range of on-site and outdoor activities and four highly acclaimed golf clubs help cement Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa as one of the best in South Carolina.

Located on the sugar sand beaches of Hilton Head Island, Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort is one of South Carolina's premier destinations.

Recently renovated, there are 323 guest rooms available including 28 suites all offering magnificent oceanfront views. Guests at Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort have access to the three fabulous courses at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort.

Considered one of the very best courses in the South East, the Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront plays to a friendly 6,122 yards and boasts one of only two holes on the island that play along the oceanfront offering spectacular views.

The Fazio course is ranked among the top 100 in America and is considered to be the toughest test on Hilton Head Island. Length and precision are required if you are going to take on this course from the back tees. Built on a series of rolling dunes that meander through the natural waterways and with an ever present sea breeze, golf on the Arthur Hills course is always a unique experience.

Florida

Florida

The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa is one of the finest ‘stay & play’ resorts in Florida offering luxurious accommodations, world-famous championship golf, excellent leisure and spa facilities as well as a dozen signature restaurants and lounges. Home of THE PLAYERS Championship since 1977, THE PLAYERS Stadium Course offers an unforgettable round. The finishing holes, including #16 (pictured) are some of the most exciting in golf, the highlight being the iconic Par 3 17th, with its island green A worthy partner to the world-renowned Stadium Course, a round on Dye’s Valley Course is a must when staying at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa.

The fantastic Hammock Beach Resort is situated on 2.4 miles of pristine beach and is one of Florida’s premier, oceanfront properties. Casting beautiful views over the surrounding landscape and Atlantic Ocean, the resort will not only visually impress but also delivers some of the highest levels of customer service available.

The two fantastic onsite courses were designed by two of the game's greats - Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson. The Ocean Course, a Signature Design by Jack Nicklaus, boasts six holes on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean - more holes on the ocean than any course in Florida. From the breath-taking ocean view driving range to the famous finishing holes dubbed the "Bear Claw", you will be blown away with this great golf experience. The Conservatory Course, a Signature Design by Tom Watson, is a links style masterpiece not commonly found in Florida. The Conservatory currently holds the honour of being the longest and hardest ranked course in Florida and truly challenges your game on every shot. Part of the Salamander Collection.

The Sunshine State has more golf courses than any other in America, making it the perfect option for a golf holiday.

There are more than 1000 courses to choose from, spread right across the state from Sawgrass in the north all the way down to Miami in the south, via Tampa and Orlando in the centre.

These courses often top the ‘must play’ and ‘top 100’ lists on both sides of the Atlantic due to their exceptional quality and tournament heritage. Perhaps one of the reasons why Florida is so well loved as a golf destination is the wonderful climate – Spring and Autumn are particularly popular travel periods due to the delightful mid-temperatures but it’s ideal for Winter golf and a haven for sun-worshippers in the hotter summer months.

Northern Florida - JacksonvilleThe northern section of Florida is home to the World Golf Hall of Fame at the World Golf Village, which also features two incredible courses designed by four of the greatest players ever to grace a fairway (Nicklaus, Palmer, Sarazen, Snead).

A visit to Northern Florida wouldn’t be complete without a round on THE PLAYERS Stadium Course – host of the so called "5th Major", with the famous 17th hole featuring on many people's lists of holes they have to play.

Central Florida – Orlando, Naples & TampaPerennially famous as a holiday destination full of great entertainment and attractions, Orlando is also a dream location for a truly memorable golf holiday. With more than 170 golf courses, over 20 golf academies and some of the world's most prestigious tournaments, Orlando is a true golfer's paradise.

Off the course, entertainment is in plentiful supply with the bright lights and attractions of the famous Orlando resorts of Disney, Universal Studios and Sea World. Orlando offers a wide variety of accommodation options particularly around International Drive including Embassy Suites, Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando and Vista Cay. All are in the perfect location to experience all of the attractions along International Drive.

Southern Florida – Miami & Palm BeachArt deco architecture meets a party vibe in the Latin-influenced city of Miami. Whether you're hoping to hang out with the South Beach party crowd before you hit a round or two, or simply looking for some superb golf, you’ll find it all here.

Lush tropical mangroves and long sandy beaches, as well as first-class accommodation make this an unforgettable golf break choice.

Need we say more? PGA National is iconic among golfers due to its rich and exciting heritage. Follow in the footsteps of golfing legends, and play one – or all! - of the fantastic courses.

Any avid golfer should have the Jack Nicklaus designed Champion Course on their ‘must play’ list. This world-renowned course is home to the Honda Classic, and hosted the 1983 Ryder Cup. It features the infamous ‘Bear Trap’, three of the most demanding closing holes on the Tour. It is widely considered to be one of Florida’s most notable golf challenges. All five of the courses at PGA National are influenced by the greats of the game for a varied and enjoyable experience.

The legendary Biltmore Hotel is a National Historic Landmark located in Coral Gables, Miami. The hotel has been a favourite of world leaders, celebrities, and sports stars since its opening in 1926 and offers much more than purely exceptional accommodation; with a championship golf course on site, a wide variety of dining options, and a luxury spa.

The Donald Ross designed layout course is lined with trees and features more than 60 bunkers protecting the undulating greens. Water hazards also come into play on six holes but the course isn't completely unforgiving - ample landing areas allow some room for error. A must play course for any golfer staying in Miami.

The Biltmore is only 15 minutes from Miami International so easy for a shorter yet luxury break in America. Its stunning location is perfect for exploring the area - just minutes from South Beach, downtown Miami, Coconut Grove and the Coral Gables business district.

A stunning Mediterranean-style golf resort offering 392 bedrooms and suites, the resort offers pure luxury in every respect – and you won’t be disappointed! The two golf courses are equally immaculate; the Soffer Course is the highlight, but the Miller Course is similarly beautiful. Designed by Raymond Floyd, the Soffer Course is unlike any others to be found in the sunshine state.

With gently contoured fairways, doglegs, spectacular water features and numerous elevation changes, this test of golf is unique in the area. The Miller Course is equally stunning and provides golfers with the same level of presentation as its bigger sister. As well as immaculately kept fairways golfers will experience fast greens and a multitude of water features throughout. Turnberry Isle Miami is equally positioned between both downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale providing the ideal opportunity to experience the highlights of the region.

Its five championship courses stretch out over a total of 48,000 yards. Why not attempt to tame the Blue Monster? Doral’s infamous championship course is 7288 yards of challenging golf peppered with bunkers and stunning water features. Doral has a rich tournament history that has been played out over more than 50 years of PGA Tour events. To top it off, the resort is located just minutes from Miami International Airport and close to all of the action in Downtown Miami and South Beach – not to be missed on a break to Miami.

Ross Bousfield, USA Sales ConsultantThis resort is pretty special. Its tournament history is ingrained everywhere you turn with a great collection of memorabilia on display. The Fazio course - previously know as The Haig - has recently been redesigned and is a great test.

Adam Ward, Head of ProductFebruary and March are popular periods to travel with very little rainfall and 20˚C average temperature however you can save by travelling between October and December when conditions are still perfect. September is an even better deal but a little warmer - averaging 25˚C. Doral is ideal for a shorter 5 night break due to its proximity to Miami airport and the excellent flight connections from the UK.

Joe Dent, USA Sales ConsultantTurnberry Isle Miami is home to the rich and famous - don't be surprised to see some big names walking the fairways or relaxing on the private beach! Spring tends to be most popular due to the excellent climate but late autumn provides better value at this extremely high-end and venue.

The resort includes three championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus; the ‘reuniting’ of this famous golfing trio and the addition of the ANNIKA Academy for world-class tuition has ultimately created one of Florida’s primary golf and family holiday experiences.

There are a variety of accommodation options and all are fully-equipped with kitchens plus balconies or patios offering views over the golf courses or gardens. At the centre of the resort is Reunion Grande, a building that includes a rooftop swimming pool and numerous restaurants & bars to take advantage of. With facilities including a purpose-built kids’ water park, large indoor spa, seven swimming pools and six tennis courts, Reunion Resort provides the perfect family golf holiday experience.

This breath-taking resort is located on three miles of pristine Southwest Florida beach. After a recent $225 million renovation, the on-site facilities and amenities are second to none. All of the guest rooms have been modernised with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing you to enjoy the stunning views of Marco Island and the Gulf of Mexico. The two championship golf courses associated with this resort offer a unique challenge and are located only 15 minutes’ drive away from the resort. Don't worry about getting there, the resort offers a complimentary shuttle throughout the day. The Rookery Course was recently re-designed by Robert Cupp Jr and features big greens, wide fairways and the occasional waste bunker. The Hammock Beach course was designed Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy and they have created a slightly easier challenge than The Rookery however the layout and landscape is just as picturesque.

Located just 30 minutes north of Tampa International Airport, Saddlebrook Resort is surrounded by two of Florida's most picturesque and playable Arnold Palmer designed golf courses and is home to BannLynch Golf at the Saddlebrook Golf Academy.

The Palmer Course plays a little longer than its yardage of 7,100 would suggest and with water hazards on 17 of the holes you will need to plot your way round in order to produce a good score. The Saddlebrook was originally designed in the mid-70s and in 1986 received a full make over by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. Longer and tighter than the Palmer, the Saddlebrook course is tree lined throughout and with water featuring on all but one hole, it's a fun challenge. Away from the course there are seven award winning restaurants, a first class Spa and if you are a tennis enthusiast you will love the 45 courts available, offering each of the 4 Grand Slam surfaces.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines

Westin Mission Hills

California is a golfer’s paradise – with lovely temperatures all year round and some of the best and most famous golf in the world to choose from, California has to be in everyone’s thoughts for their next golf break. From the one and only Pebble Beach in Monterey Bay to Torrey Pines in San Diego, the list is endless.

If you prefer a more mountainous setting then travel to the region of Palm Springs and play at the home of the PGA Tour’s Humana Challenge at La Quinta Resort & Club. With a huge range of hotels, apartments and other off course attractions to choose from, not forgetting the fabulous weather, a trip to California would make the perfect golf break.

San Diego is located on the Southern California Pacific Ocean coast, close to the Mexican border. The city is known for its mild year-round climate and extensive beaches, with the temperature in summer months averaging a pleasant 24 degrees with very little rainfall. San Diego is home to golf in every conceivable setting from oceanfront to desert and even mountain layouts. One of the most illustrious courses on the PGA Tour roster, Torrey Pines, headlines the region.

On arrival at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, you receive a truly special greeting as guests are welcomed by doormen attired in kilted Scottish Dress. Pure luxury at its finest, each room is superbly furnished, with first-class facilities. The South Course at Torrey Pines will be familiar for golfers as a US Open venue and regular host of PGA tournaments including the Buick International and the Farmers Insurance Open.

Don’t let the stunning ocean views distract you – the narrow fairways are lined with thick rough ready to punish any off-line shots. The North Course boasts a similarly breath-taking vista and is laid along a rugged and dramatic coastline utilising the deep ravines to create an unforgettable course layout.

California California - Pebble Beach Resorts™

Surely one of the most famous golf venues in the USA – if not worldwide, Pebble Beach Resorts is a legendary place. Opened in 1919, it sits on 5300 acres of the Monterey Peninsula between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey. With a rich history, stunning coastline, warm hospitality and an unrivalled selection of golf courses, a visit to Pebble Beach Resorts is a must.

Golf at Pebble BeachThe selection of four courses includes Pebble Beach Golf Links™; one of the most distinguished PGA Tour courses having hosted the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for 67 years as well as five US Open Championships, most recently in 2010. The small greens and narrow fairways can be demanding when the Pacific wind kicks and the par-4, 8th, 9th and 10th holes running along the rugged cliff line are considered the most difficult. It’s the par-5 18th that is perhaps the most scenic and well known hole at Pebble Beach as it dog-legs along the cliff edge.

Spyglass Hill™ Golf Course has an equally enviable reputation as one of the toughest courses on the PGA Tour circuit. Watch out for the 6th, 8th and 16th holes! The course takes its theme from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island, and you’ll find references to this throughout with hole names including ‘Black Dog’, ‘Billy Bones’ and ‘Long John Silver’.

The Links at Spanish Bay™ was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., Tom Watson and Sandy Tatum and is a direct homage to the traditional links courses found across Great Britain and Ireland. Bunkers of every imaginable shape and size provide great defence for the undulating greens. To top it all off, a bagpiper closes the course in true Scottish tradition every evening.

Heading inland, Del Monte™ Golf Course is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River, having opened in 1897. A beautifully meandering layout, this course has challenged golfers for over a century and features wide fairways lined with oak, pine and cypress trees.

AccommodationThere are three accommodation options at Pebble Beach Resorts. Since 1919, The Lodge at Pebble Beach™ has delivered luxurious accommodation and excellent amenities. There are 161 rooms, all with a patio or balcony and stunning views of the gardens, oceanside fairways or spectacular sunsets over Stillwater Cove.

Alternatively, Casa Palmero™ presents a Mediterranean style offering 24 private rooms at the height of luxury. All guests can enjoy the luxurious living room, library, billiard room, heated outdoor pool and complimentary refreshments at the spacious bar and lounge in the main house. The hotel is set in a great location – overlooking the 1st and 2nd holes of Pebble Beach Golf Links.

The Inn at Spanish Bay™ offers elegance and natural beauty, nestled amongst Monterey pines. All rooms feature comfortable and contemporary furnishing and warm cozy fires as well as great fairway views. True across all of Pebble Beach Resorts, The Inn at Spanish Bay not only features world-class golf, but also exceptional recreational activities as well, including walking trails, horse back riding, numerous tennis courts and a state of the art fitness facility.

Both Mountain and Dunes Courses at La Quinta are the creations of master designer Pete Dye. Nestled amongst the stunning backdrop, The Mountain Course is renowned for its playability, pot bunkers and rock formations whilst the Dunes Course is a more traditional links format with a signature 17th hole to entice the longer hitters. The TPC Stadium Course at PGA West is perhaps the biggest pull as one of the Top 100 courses in the world.

Off the course, La Quinta Resort and Club has been welcoming guests since 1926. This desert retreat offers 5* accommodation in luxurious Spanish style casitas as well as outstanding facilities including a rejuvenating spa and world class chefs.

Just minutes from Palm Springs, you can enjoy the lush fairways of two PGA calibre championship golf courses set in a stunning location. The Celebrity Course designed by Clive Clark measures just over 7,000 yards from the back tees. Opened in November of 2006, it hosted both the 2007 and 2008 LG Skins Games. Variety and challenge are among the highlights of this desert course. A stunning course that has breath-taking mountain views and water features.

The Players Course is a touch longer. A traditional American layout with well sculpted bunkering and generous fairways, the signature hole has to be the par-4 6th hole which dog-legs tightly round a lake, making club selection vital.

The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa offers two fantastic golf courses: The Gary Player Signature course is integrated sympathetically into the desert landscape and has been praised for being well designed, difficult but a joy to play. The Pete Dye Resort Course is beautiful but tough with rolling fairways and water hazards. There are four different tee boxes to choose from to suit all abilities.

The 5* Westin Mission Hills Resort is set on 360 acres within the Rancho Mirage community with a luxurious spa to help you unwind from your day's golf and lush on-site gardens. The resort is just 7 miles from Palm Springs International Airport providing a quick and convenient transfer when arriving.

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort is set in a stunning location south-east of Palm Springs with views of the desert landscape and the breathtaking Santa Rosa Mountains. All of the rooms at Desert Springs offer views of the pools or gardens. There is a huge selection of restaurants to choose from offering cuisine from around the world. Tennis, swimming and spa are available and make sure you enjoy a gondola tour of the waterways.

The resort boasts two 18-hole courses, the Palm and the Valley, both designed by Ted Robinson. At 6,761 yards the Palm is the longer of the two traversing around the hotel. There is definitely a premium on accuracy over length and club selection will be key to scoring well. The signature hole has to be the par-3 17th; it requires a carry from the tee to an island green with stunning palm trees and waterfalls guarding the target. The Valley Course is fairly compact and although slightly shorter than its sister course, it will test your game with some particularly tight holes. The par-4 16th is one of the best looking - it is a gentle dog-leg around a large lake that leads to a well-protected green with numerous pot bunkers.

One of the most popular stops on the PGA Tour, Greater Palm Springs is a truly idyllic place to stay and play golf. One hundred miles inland from Los Angeles the area is made up of 9 cities along the Coachella Valley, flanked by the breath-taking San Bernardino mountains to the north and Santa Rosa mountains of the south.

It’s easy to see why this destination is favoured by the Hollywood stars, with its wonderful climate and plethora of activities to enjoy. For golfers it’s hard to beat as there are over 100 golf courses with La Quinta and PGA West boasting designs from the likes of Dye, Norman and Nicklaus. There is a wide choice of styles, ranging from your classic desert tracks to the more traditional parkland courses.

This desert oasis has a glorious climate with amazing weather all year round but the winter months offer ideal golfing conditions with the temperatures averaging 23-30°C. With luxury resorts and some great-value packages, a golf holiday in Greater Palm Springs is an experience to savour.

ScottsdaleOne of the undoubted stars of the golf holiday scene stateside, Scottsdale is the perfect place for a golf break in America. There are over 400 courses to choose from and a wide choice of luxury accommodation. Spring, autumn and winter are ideal times to enjoy the unique experience of a golf holiday in Scottsdale’s amazing desert landscape. While the temperatures rise during the summer months, this is the perfect time to find great value rates at some of the area’s top resorts and golf courses. Scottsdale is the epicentre of golf in Arizona with dozens of brilliant courses and conveniently located for Phoenix International airport.

Golf in ScottsdaleTPC Scottsdale is a 36-hole venue with a formidable reputation. Few of America’s wonderful array of TPC courses are home to such drama and excitement as is played out on the Stadium course due to its fantastic 16th hole made famous as a 'fans favourite' of the Phoenix Open. It's a must play when golfing in Scottsdale.

The new Champions Course at TPC Scottsdale has been designed to fit seamlessly into the natural desert terrain. Although lacking the reputation of the Stadium Course, this course still provides a formidable challenge to test your golfing skills.

Troon North Golf Club is arguably the other big name in Scottsdale. It has two Weiskopf designed courses; both are visually stunning and will test your skills to the max. Some argue that the Monument Course is slightly more forgiving than its Sister course – The Pinnacle – but accuracy from the tee are consistent features across both with the desert

scrub often coming into play.

AccommodationThe Boulders is a radiant oasis with luxury accommodation set in the breath-taking landscape of desert foothills with stunning views of Black Mountain. The North Course features 18 scenic holes surrounded by boulder formations, Sonoran Desert sunsets, and natural desert terrain. The Robert Trent Jones Trail The Masters - 6th-14th April 2014

Ross Bridge Golf Club

Cambrian Ridge Golf Club

Capitol Hill Golf Club

In the late 1980's Dr David Bonner had the idea of creating an enormous network of world class golf courses that would drive golf tourism to his beautifully landscaped home state of Alabama. Robert Trent Jones Snr, one of the premier architects of all time, jumped at the opportunity and together they set about completing what is now considered one of the most successful golf projects ever attempted.

The collection of 468 holes set on 11 different sites stretches across Alabama and is famously named after its designer - The Robert Trent Jones Trail. Each trail course takes advantage of the natural landscape ensuring a very different experience at each venue. The rolling hills of the North and the rivers and valleys of the South all play their part. Trent Jones had all golfers in mind during the design process and with as many as 12 different teeing areas at some of the courses you can match your tee box to your ability.

The proximity of the golf courses to the main route-ways is a huge benefit to the travelling golfer. There are different routes you can take during a week in the area - travel straight down the I-65 interstate and you will pick up 6 of the Trail courses. Others choose to loop from Atlanta to Anniston, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Auburn. Each way is within a 90 minute drive from Atlanta.

Many of the RTJ Trail sites are close to some fantastic resorts allowing you to stay and play your way through the state and giving you the option of taking a tour of the region or choosing a base to stay and play in one area.

Be part of the greatest tournament in golf – The Masters at Augusta National. Travel to Georgia with Golfbreaks.com for an amazing experience amongst the dramatic dogwoods and stunning Azaleas of this truly special place.

The Masters is a golf tournament like no other. Played out every April on Alister MacKenzie’s defining course design, the players lucky enough to be invited to take part compete not for money or ranking points, but for the glory of a Major win, membership of a very special club and the right to wear the coveted Green Jacket. Just the merest mention of Augusta National Golf Club is enough to send most golfers into a daze. From the brilliant white sand bunkers and emerald fairways to the banks of glorious azaleas behind iconic holes like 12 and 13, this former plant nursery is an explosion of colour.

And because it’s played at the same venue it’s a course that we all know intimately despite never having set foot on the hallowed turf. We can visualise every hole and the great moments that have shaped the tournament’s history - Bubba’s wedge, Tiger’s chip, Sandy’s bunker shot, Jack’s putt... right the way back to Gene Sarazen’s ‘Shot heard around the world’. Defining shots are all etched into Masters folklore, and each year new chapters are added as the roars echo around Amen Corner. So if you want to be there to witness history in the making, give us a call now to discuss your 2014 Masters trip. We can also make it a real trip-of-a-lifetime by extending your stay and offering packages to other iconic destinations including Kiawah Island.
