Discourse Analysis LMA I Written Assignment Choose a short text (e.g. a news story, a short speech or beginning of a speech, review of a book or film, song lyrics, part of a legal text, etc.) and focus on one or two aspects that you find relevant about the text. They could be related to representation (the social actor(s) or practice described/constructed in the text), the point of view/positioning of the author (how the author evaluates the social actor(s) or practice under focus and how the author communicates with the intended audience) or intertextuality (articulation of other discourses and voices in the text). Show how representation/point of view/intertextuality are realized in the text you have selected. Word limit: 350-500 words (maximum 500!) Penalties:

10% of your grade/week if you submit late (the week starts on June 5)

Plagiarized work is unacceptable (you will get grade 1)Plagiarism refers to those cases where you copy another writers exact words without using inverted commas or referencing or where you paraphrase another writers ideas without mentioning their name.

I attach a documentation format that you can use for citing other authors, if necessary (you dont have to, only if the need arises).
