The Future of Pump TechnologyThe Future of Pump Technology
The Disc Pump ConceptThe Disc Pump Concept
The Discflo disc pump is a highly innovative design of pump, operating on the forces of boundary layer and viscous drag.
The pump mechanism is the Discpac which provides laminar, pulsation-free flow and ‘non-impingement’ pumping.
Benefits Part I: Pump Operating & Design Features
Non-impingement operation– leading to little abrasive wear, no destruction of delicate and
shear sensitive products, no emulsification
Pulsation-free, laminar flowLow NPSH requirementNo close tolerancesHighly versatile designPumps the same range of heads and flow rates as centrifugal and PC pumps
Minimal downtime– due to lack of close tolerances and laminar flow
Ability to run bone dryAbility to deadhead discharge and starve suctionNo radial loads, so longer seal and bearing lifeVery low axial loads, so longer seal lifeExceptionally LOW LIFE CYCLE COSTS
– disc pump saves up to 90% of spare parts, maintenance and downtime costs compared to other pump designs
Benefits Part II: Pump Operating & Design Features

Benefits Part III: HardHard--toto--Pump Fluid ApplicationsPump Fluid Applications
Applications in IndustryApplications in Industry
Pulp and paper mill applications: – chemical recovery, paper coatings, stock, waste, etc
Chemical, oil and petroleum processing: – emulsions, crystal slurries, acid slurries, oil and sand sludge, plastics,
paint, hazardous waste, etc
Wastewater - municipal and industrial: – sewage, primary/secondary sludge, anaerobic sludge
Food processing and other sanitary applications: – corn slurries, chicken parts, soft fruits, dairy, etc
Metal, mining and other specific markets:– steel mill sludge, nuclear waste, mine dewatering, etc
Operating Range and SizesOperating Range and Sizes
Pumps are configured for an application by varying the size, number and spacing of discs in the Discpac:
– Discpac diameters from 8” [203mm] to 20” [508mm]
Suction and discharge size range:– 2” x 1.5” [50mm x 40mm] to 12” x 8” [300mm x 200mm]
Flow rates range from 2-10,000 GPM [0.5 m3/h-2250 m3/h]
Discharge pressures up to 1000ft [300m]

Disc Pump PricingDisc Pump Pricing
Discflo has developed a software program, called Autoselect, to allow distributors to select and price disc pumps and pump accessories directly for customers.
Remember: The disc pump is a problem-solving pump. It can greatly reduce Pump Life Cycle Costs by cutting maintenance, downtime, and spare parts requirements in hard-to-pump applications, as well as giving higher product yields in shear sensitive and delicate applications.
