REUNION 2011
PHOTO FINISH The reunion may be "finish(ed)" for this year, but the "photo(s)"
are in!
Photographer Marianne Smith, daughter of Joan Laffey Smith (Class of '49), was kind
enough to lend us her (considerable) talents at the October 8th reunion by photographing the
event. Out of her and her mother's love of all things "Michaelite", Marianne is offering these
photos to us at no profit to herself. Simply go to http://photobucket.com/stmichaels, create an
account, create your own photo album from Marianne's pictures, and start ordering your
photos directly from the Photobucket site.
Please visit Marianne Smith on her website
http://www.mariannesmithphotography.com/
and let her know how much you like the pictures and appreciate her gesture.

Reunion Program
We thought you might like to see the program that was handed out at the reunion on
October 8th. Please click here to do so.
You will notice that we included an "In Memoriam" section in the program for the
anniversary classes. When we asked the alumnae to help us update our list of those
women who had passed since graduation, we got a response from Barbara Helmick
('61), who wrote a lovely remembrance of her friend and classmate Margaret (Kelly)
Land. Because space was limited in the program, we were unable to run it there.
We would like to print it here for you, for Barbara, and for all of our beloved
classmates who have gone before us...
"Peggy Kelly worked as a secretary on Wall Street for
three years (after graduation in 1961). In 1965, she
married David J. Land. They lived in Texas where
Peggy was the secretary to the TX Attorney General
in Austin, TX until 1967.
The Lands returned to New York and had four
children: David J., Anna, Sean and Robert. She and
her husband were founding members of the Gilead Community and House of Prayer
in Unadilla, N.Y.

Peggy lost her husband in 2003 (he had Multiple Sclerosis for many years). Peggy
has eight grandchildren and, from 2000 to 2007, worked as a Parish Social Minister
for Sacred Heart Parish in Sidney, New York.
Peggy always had a beautiful, operatic voice. In 2006 she stated that she was still
'taking singing lessons and performing regularly.' She was a Reiki Master and taught
many classes on energy medicine.
We lost our friend and classmate on November 23, 2007."
What Are You Up To???
What are you up to these days? We'd love to know. Send uspictures, write a blurb or (if you are too modest) tell us of a
website that we can link to that fills us in on where you workand/or what you're doing. Are you on YouTube??? Let us know
that too. C'mon! Let's have some fun with this!

Annual DuesIf you have already paid your 2011 annual dues to the SMAAA, Thank You! We appreciate your
support! We have set this year's dues at a reasonable $25, just to cover our start-up costs (which
are mounting quickly!!!) At the moment, we are emailing this publication to just over 1,000people. We have an "open rate" of approximately 40%, which means that only 400 of the alumnae
are aware of our existence! We need your help to do better than that.
Please make out your check for $25 (or more?) payable to "SMAAA", and mail it to Jeanne
Billings (SMAAA), 6 Greenacres Avenue, Scarsdale, NY10583. Be sure to include your updated
contact information - name, maiden name, address, email address, phone number, year of
graduation - and please encourage your classmates to do the same.(Hand in hand we'll work
together!)
Contributions made (including any dues paid) to the Saint Michael Academy Alumnae
Association, Inc. are not deductible for Federal income tax purposes.
