Our Mission | INTERNATIONALLY ACCREDITED DANCE TERTIARY TRAINING, IN HARMONY WITH LOCAL TALENT, TO ENSURE A POWERFUL FUTURE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN DANCE.

Dance Institute South Africa is about to Revolutionise the way you look at Dance Teaching in South Africa. Through our long standing international working relationship with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), the biggest and highest regarded Dance Teachers organisation in the world (in over 85 countries), and special relationship with Ms Anna Jones, immediate past-president of the IDTA, we are in the process of raising the bar of Dance Teacher and Professional training in South Africa. For too many years Dance Teachers had to make do with unrecognised local dance qualifications, not sufficiently preparing them for the - now booming - Dance industry. In modern day South Africa, Dance Teachers and Dance Professionals have career opportunities in so many different fields, from running successful Dance Centres and Studios, to teaching in schools, and even supplying the Theatre, corporate events and cruise ship industries with services from choreographry to performances. Television has also been dance mad, with shows such as So you think you can Dance? and Strictly Come Dancing providing professionals with great exposure and glamorous careers. In this highly competitive environment, it is all the more important to ensure that your training as a professional teacher and performer is at the highest possible standard it can be, and that you hold a qualification which will be recognized wherever you decide to take your Dance & Dance Teaching skills, be it Australia, China or even Barbados.

With this in mind, Dance Institute South Africa has been making its mark with powerful Dance Courses, initially focussing on the Latin-American and Ballroom Dance genres and related subjects, but later expanding to incorporate several other genres. Along with training dynamic new professionals, Dance Institute is also launching an excellent new tool for Dance Schools across South Africa - Medal Tests. Based on the IDTA’s Medal Test system, it has been adapted for local application, and gives Schools and Studios a new universal and independent standard to evaluate dancers’ levels outside of a competition environment, whilst providing dancers with a progressive development from beginner through to professional, which is lacking in especially Latin & Ballroom. Beyond this, we also provide syllabus coaching services suited to Competitive and Social orientated teachers, along with business model and marketing consultation to help your dance studio or dance career achieve its maximum potential.
