First and foremost, praise to Allah SWT for the second edition of UiTM Cawangan Johor’s Directory of Expertise (DoE). I am delighted to present the current list of our experts from both branch campuses of Segamat and Pasir Gudang which covers a broad spectrum including Social Sciences and Technologies. The information in the DoE perhaps will strengthen the ties between the university and the community, as well as the industry where it can foster more research and development collaboration. Moreover, this list of expertise not only provides an avenue for the community and industry to tap onto their needs from the university but is also a quick platform to assess niche areas that can be beneficial to them. The university’s focus on excellence is the heart of its contribution to national and international interests. The university’s research expertise and collaborative engagements have contributed to practical business and social applications which demonstrate the breadth of expertise across various disciplines. The Directory of Expertise (DoE) of UiTM Cawangan Johor is a comprehensive compilation of expertise in both Segamat and Pasir Gudang campuses. This time, the DoE is digitalized in order to support the Rector’s initiative in the digital campus programme. The DoE is available in the UiTM Cawangan Johor website and in the form of Compact Disk Read- Only-Memory (CD-ROM). DoE brings together the talents and interests of research staff from across UiTM Cawangan Johor. Even though UiTM Cawangan Johor is a teaching university, our involvement in research and development has received recognitions at the national and international level, reflecting our keen interest in expanding the boundaries of knowledge. The DoE comprises academician information which
covers various faculties and academies, namely the Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Accountancy, Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Information Management, Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science, Law Department, Academy of Language Studies, and Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies. INTRODUCTION
UiTM Cawangan Johor has been in existence in the state of Johor Darul Ta’zim since
1983. It was then known as ITM (Institut Teknologi MARA). Its first campus in Bukit
Siput was officially opened by Dato’ Abd. Ajib bin Ahmad, the Menteri Besar of Johor
at that time. Upon popular demand of its services, its location was moved to a larger
and more comfortable building in Segamat Baru in 1985. In 1990, UiTM Cawangan
Johor was relocated to its present premise at KM12, Jalan Muar-Segamat on a piece
of land given generously by the state ruler. UiTM Cawangan Johor, Kampus
Segamat consists of four (4) faculties namely the Faculty of Accountancy, Faculty of
Business Management, Faculty of Information Management and Faculty of
Computer and Mathematical Sciences. UiTM Cawangan Johor also has a campus
situated in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru. Currently, UiTM Cawangan Johor is well-
equipped with various teaching and learning infrastructure, as well as recreational
facilities which ensure its position as a highly reputable institution of higher
learning. It is undeniable that UiTM Cawangan Johor will continue to progress in
order to achieve greater success in its mission to prove its magnanimity and
identity as a prestigious institution in the nation.
VISION
To establish UiTM as a premier university of outstanding scholarship and academic
excellence capable of providing leadership to Bumiputeras’s dynamic involvement
in all professional fields of world-class standards in order to produce globally
competitive graduates of sound ethical standing.
MISION
To enhance the knowledge and expertise of Bumiputeras in all fields of study
through professional programmes, research work and community service based
on moral values and professional ethics.
PHILOSOPHY
Every individual has the ability to attain excellence through the transfer of
knowledge and assimilation of moral values so as to become professional
graduates capable of developing knowledge, self, society and nation.
OBJECTIVES
To provide maximum opportunities to Bumiputeras in pursuing education of
professional level in the fields of Science, Industry, Technology, Commerce, Art
and Social Studies.

To instil a human development programme as a tool to inculcate the system of
values among UiTM’s community.

effective management of human resource, finance and property to achieve the
goals of education in UiTM, as well as act as a catalyst towards the development
of the community.
FACULTIES & COURSES OFFERED
FACULTY OF ACCOUNTANCY
The Faculty of Accountancy in UiTM Cawangan Johor Kampus Segamat was
established in December 1983 in Bukit Siput, Segamat. Its location was moved to
Segamat Baru before being transferred permanently to the present location at
KM12, Jalan Muar, Segamat, Johor. The faculty offer a Diploma in Accountancy
(AC110) Programme with a capacity of 1,200 students.
FACULTY OF COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
The Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM) was established on 15
December 1983, at the same time as the establishment of Universiti Teknologi
MARA (UiTM) Johor. It was initiated with the recruitment of a single lecturer
specially brought in from the main faculty in UiTM Malaysia offering to teach
Computer Science and Mathematics as “servicing subjects” in UiTM Cawangan
Johor, Kampus Segamat at that time. Currently, FSKM in UiTM Cawangan Johor,
Kampus Segamat comprises 43 lecturers in the fields of Computer Science,
Mathematics and Statistics. FSKM offers two diploma programmes, mainly Diploma
in Computer Science and Diploma in Mathematical Science. The Diploma in
Computer Science (CS110) was offered since the June 2004 semester with its first
intake of 26 students while the Diploma in Quantitative Science (CS113) was first
offered in the June 2005 semester with an intake of 88 students. Diploma in
Quantitative Science was renamed as Diploma in Mathematical Science (CS143) in
June 2013.
FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT
The economic situation and global changes which are challenging at present
require a wider range of expertise in the field of business. As such, the Faculty of

Business Management is offering both diploma and degree programmes to better
equip students with the necessary skills in line with the needs and demands of the
market.
FACULTY OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
The Faculty of Information Management in UiTM is proud to be the pioneer in
providing professional education to fulfil the human capital of this country in three
major areas: Information Management, Library Management and Records
Management. Its academic programmes, as well as industrial training fully equip
students with sufficient knowledge and skills to fulfil the demands of information
management in various organizations. Our graduates, who form a major force in
the development of a knowledgeable society in our country, require the skills to
make Malaysia a developed country and ensure all forms of knowledge are well
managed to maintain a standard of optimum level. In order to achieve this goal, our
programme is made up of components from four major areas, namely Information
Technology, Professional and Technical aspects of Information and Records
Management, Public Relations and Needs, and Consumer Services.
ACADEMY OF CONTEMPORARY ISLAMIC STUDIES
The Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies (ACIS) was established in
December 2012. It was fomerly known as CITU (Centre For Islamic Thought &
Understanding). CITU was initiated at the same time when ITM was established.
This academy offers academic courses to produce a confident and knowledgeable
group of professional Malay Muslims in the country. The ACIS courses are made
compulsory at both diploma and degree levels of all faculties. Since 2012, ACIS has
begun to offer courses at even postgraduate and PhD levels. Besides that, ACIS also
offers other courses in collaboration with other faculties such as the Faculty of
Business Management, namely in offering a programme specifically on Banking
and Islamic Finance, and Halal Food with the Faculty of Applied Sciences and
others. When ITM was upgraded to a university, the then CITU joined forces with
Unit Kemajuan Islam under HEP as a whole. With the assistance of the expertise
channelled by its lecturers and officers from the Islamic Affairs Unit (Unit Hal Ehwal
Islam), proper spiritual and religious activities were carried out successfully in the
lecture rooms.
ACADEMY OF LANGUAGE STUDIES
The Academy of Language Studies is committed to provide courses in language
skills, mainly English, Mandarin and Arabic, Professional Certificate Courses and

Degree Programmes of high quality towards the development of the technology of
teaching and learning in order to produce excellent students in the field of
language. The needs of the students are highly prioritized.
LAW DEPARTMENT
The Law Department is committed to use all forms of knowledge and expertise to
guide students achieve excellence in all law courses offered. Besides that, it also
aims to help all staff of UiTM Cawangan Johor, Kampus Segamat by providing legal
advice in their respective disciplines and expertise.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
The Faculty of Civil Engineering (FKA) in UiTM Johor, Kampus Pasir Gudang is
committed to provide well-designed and apt diploma programmes in the field of
Civil Engineering to produce graduates of international standards and constantly
fulfil the needs of their clients. FKA also implements an excellent, effective quality
management system and ensures continuous improvement to make it an
outstanding organization.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering in UiTM Johor, Kampus Pasir Gudang offers
three (3) academic programmes at diploma level, namely Diploma in Electrical
Engineering (Control & Instrumentation), Diploma in Electrical Engineering
(Electronics) and Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Power).
CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Professions in the field of Chemical Engineering require knowledge on
mathematics and science through both learning and experience, as well as the use
of analytical and invention skills to solve problems and develop processes and
systems which are beneficial to humans. In order to help chemical engineers, this
industry requires technical knowledge of extremely high quality in terms of
workforce and committment. Being aware of this fact, UiTM has designed its
Diploma in Chemical Engineering curriculum according to the needs of the
industry.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in UiTM Johor, Kampus Pasir Gudang offers
a three-year diploma programme in the field of Mechanical Engineering. This
programme provides basic introduction into Mechanical Engineering. It is
designed to fulfil the industrial needs for those who intend to work as technicians
or assistant engineers in fields involving the use of machines and technical
knowledge such as production, aerospace, automotives, manufacturing, as well as
oil and gas. As preparation into the working world, students are given the choice
to select modules of their preference in their final year of studies. Among the
choices available are Pure Mechanics, Manufacturing, Automotives and Aerospace.
The Mechanical Engineering Programme is unique and creative whereby students
are trained on the techniques of thinking, development, implementation and
carrying out tasks. Successful graduates of this programme are also given the
opportunity to pursue their studies to degree level.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME
UiTM is proud to be one of the superior institutions of higher learning in this
country. Its history of IPSIS or Institute of Graduate Studies commenced way back
in April 1997. Originally, the postgraduate programme was offered in collaboration
with foreign universities but now even Masters and PhD courses are fully offered in
UiTM.
MENGUBAH DESTINI ANAK BANGSA (MDAB) PROGRAMME
The MDAB Programme lies under the patronage of The Most Honourable Prime
Minister. The prescribed minimum requirements for entry into this programme
offer abundant opportunities to Bumiputra students from the lower socio-economic
status who have been left out in the field of education which is developing
drastically towards success in this present era.
