To maintain and improve as a charitable purpose for the benefit of the public the navigation of: The River Gipping ( Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation ) between Pickerel Bridge Stowmarket & West End Road Bridge Ipswich with any connecting waterway; either alone or jointly with any other persons, corporations, or public bodies or local authorities and with and subject to all such consents, statutory enactments or orders and acts in law as may be applicable to The Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation or necessary for carrying out of the above objects. In collaboration with other public and voluntary bodies, to advance the education of the public in the history, industrial archaeology and natural history of The Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation, Associated structures and the countryside through which the navigation runs. In collaboration with other public and voluntary bodies, to promote and develop the recreational opportunities along The River Gipping for the benefit of the public. In collaboration with other public and voluntary bodies, to promote and develop the natural environment of The Gipping Valley for the benefit of the native flora and fauna for the interest and enjoyment of the public. Results & Dividends. Expenditure exceeded income by £1196.06. Principal Activities. The restoration of the Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation continues to be the principal activity of the Trust, and to that end the creation of power point presentations has been important. These form the basis of lectures that have been given to local groups to educate & create interest in the trust. We now have three presentations of 20min, 45min & 70 min duration to suit the requests of various organisations, and upwards of 20 of these presentations have been made during the year Updating of our web site, linked to the Inland Waterways Association & River Action Group sites continues.

Principal Activities.

The restoration of the Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation continues to be the principal activity

of the Trust, and to that end the creation of power point presentations has been important.

We now have three presentations of 20min, 45min & 70 min duration to suit the requests of

various organisations, and upwards of 20 of these presentations have been made during the

Ipswich & Stowmarket Navigation.

Members have continued to carry out restoration work at Baylham Lock, along with general

maintenance work at Hawks Mill, Bosmere and Creeting.

Company law requires the directors to prepare financial statements for each financial year,

which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and of the profit and loss

of the company for the period. In preparing these financial statements, the directors are

required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to

presume that the company will continue in business.

The directors are responsible for keeping proper records which disclose with reasonable

accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and to enable them to ensure that

the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for

safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable precautions for the

prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

The company has taken advantage of the small companies’ exemption under the Section 477

of the Companies Act 2006 in preparing the directors’ report.
