Mr. Ajay DeoNational Service ManagerBase Corporation

How long have you been associated with Base Corporation? How many years have you spent in this industry?

Having spent the last 17 years of my life in this industry, in the year 2010, I decided to join Base Corporation. It was probably one of my best thought over decisions. Today, with the manu-facturing industry having attained a diversified momentum, we are all set to be the – Power of the Nation. My association with the company in the last one year has given me an array of opportunities to explore and experience.

Presently, how many service centers do you have across India and how many are there in the pipeline?

Presently we have 48 service centers across India and there are 2 more the pipeline. One in Jalandhar and one in Jabalpur. We further plan on setting up another 178 service centers in the next financial year, to help Base leave the largest service footprint in India.

What are the basic criteria for a good service?

A major criterion for a good service is immediate response. To assure a consumer of this, we pay attention to their requirements in the least possible time frame. is in turn improves consumer trust towards the brand.

What is the present turn-around time? How do you plan to improve it?

e present turn-around time for us is 48-72 hours, however we are trying to reduce it as much as possible. We have initiated a system whereby a certain percentage of spare goods are made available for replacement at any given

point in time, through every branch and service center. Moreover, we are also amending our replacement policies whereby they will become more consumer friendly.

What is the present strength of the Base service team?

At present we have more than 200 professionals working in the service department at Base Corporation. However in the next one year we intend to increase the strength to 450 employees.

What are the measures you intend to undertake for better battery services?

Several measures have been under-taken to provide unmatched service for our customers. A few amongst them are:• A pro-active service - the Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for end customers is under process which will offer better servicing options for them.• Increasing the amount of spare stocks in each branch ensures that there is no delay from our end due to non-availability of supplies.• Thirdly, and most importantly we seek to place Regional Service Engi-neers (RSE) in each center, thus enabling faster response from our end. In fact we have already completed this in Kerala and now are aiming at the rest of India.

How is the customer/dealer satis-faction ensured? What other strate-gies have you adopted?

By decreasing our response time we ensure all our customers and dealers absolute satisfaction. Moreover, our call center is accessible for everyone, 24x7. Other strategies include measures like:

(a) Organizing dealer service meets.(b)Customer awareness programmes.(c) Organizing service camps, where we conduct surveys, distribute leaflets and fill in feedback forms. All these enable us to know how the brand is performing in the market, and whether the customers/dealers are satisfied with our products or not.

How is Base different from other brands available in the market?

What makes us stand apart is the extreme attention we pay to every requirement of our customers. More-over, being easily approachable and

accessible through our various branches, call centers etc., gives us a cutting-edge over other brands.

What are Base’s plans in regard to customer service in the coming year?

In the next one year, we are planning to build the service team with 250 more servicing professionals across India. is will ensure faster service at reasonable costs. Moreover, we are also devising new measures to meet the servicing requirements of our consumers. Some of our services are mentioned below:

Service centers: ese centers are operated by a group of trained engineers and are fully equipped with the latest testing equipment. A thorough product analysis is performed at these centers with results that are viewed and shared by a technical team.

Service vans: Service vans offer “Door Step” service to Base’s end consumer. ese vans are well equipped with the latest in power technologies and are handled by trained personnel. We have placed them in strategic locations, ready to rush to the aid of stalled vehicles with battery problems. Moreover, we have set up a customer communication centre in Bangalore with the toll free number 1800-1800-007. Apart from which we also have DAB (Dial – A - Battery) service where a customer can call and register their battery grievances.

Service camps: ese camps are organized along with dealers at locations that are convenient for customers to come to. ey can also get their vehicle battery checked and serviced FREE OF COST, irrespec-tive of the brand. We also take this opportunity to brief the consumer on the general maintenance of batteries and take feedback on battery perfor-mance and service.

ings are getting bigger and better at Base Corporation, every day. In order to meet the ever-growing demands of the consumer, Base has revamped its entire structure. Each level within the organization has undergone new developments. At the management level, highly experi-enced professionals in the fields of HR, business development, media & communications and sales & service have been recruited to help restruc-ture all design strategies, giving all Base products a new dimension.Today, Base Corporation has taken all the necessary measures to be a leader in the industry. Specified below are several agencies that work with us to ensure Base’s continual success.

Manufacturing unit at Solan,Himachal Pradesh

Sprawling over 100,000 sq. mts. and surrounded by reserve forests and small rivers, our manufacturing plant at Solan is a unique mix of ecological wonder and next-generation technol-ogy from the USA, Taiwan, Korea, China, Germany, France, Turkey and

several other European countries, all with the sole intention of making some of the most efficient products in today’s industry. A one-of-its-kind facility, the plant has made a name for itself as a zero-discharge facility offer-ing a perfectly pollution-free environ-

ment to work in. In 2006-07, a small assembly line was pioneered at Solan and on the success of this initiative a full-fledged plant was set up in July 2007. e first and the second phase of the plant are now operational and the third phase is in progress and is expected to be completed soon. In the very first year of its operation, the plant achieved 60% of its assessed installed capacity, a significant mark considering the background of the project, still progressing towards completion. e present capacity utilization has reached around 80%.Under Phase I and II, Base started manufacturing VRLA batteries and assembling Tubular batteries and UPS’s. Under Phase III the company will produce Tubular plates and UPS components. While normally the marketing scheme of any organization is devel-oped in due course, where develop-ment of the manufacturing facility happens first, the Company has been fortunate in initiating, building up and running a strong, robust and well oiled marketing schedule for over two decades.

e integration and setting up of a Base manufacturing facility only began in recent years.Upcoming Hosur project:With 432 crores in investments, an area spanning over 180 acres purchased and a capacity of 2,00,000 inverters and 150 ah batteries, commissioned for 2013; the mega Greenfield project is one of the largest in Asia.

We are committed to conserving our natural resources by minimizing waste generation, promoting recov-ery, recycling and reuse in every step of the manufacturing and distribu-tion processes. A team of dedicated experts are constantly innovating fresh ideas for eco – clean and environment friendly products. We take pride in stringently adhering to environmen-tal rules and regulations for a better tomorrow. Moreover, we ensure that extra mile by creating awareness amongst our employees, customers,

contractors and suppliers. e Com-pany has recently invested 15.8 crores on recycling equipment to ensure it preserves the land it oper-ates on.

Environmental initiative

Sponsorship At Base, we believe in creating a difference in the lives of everyone. Base Corporation sponsored a bike for Mr. Roby Das, a travel photogra-pher for his expedition from Srinagar to Kanyakumari, by road, crossing through 12 states of the country, covering approximately 6000 kms. He was welcomed at all our branches that were on his route, cheered on, and refreshed before his wearying journey came to an end.

We have been a channel partner of the Base Corpora-tion for the last 7 years and have found the online UPS quite good. Moreover the sales & service of the brand are excellent. With mutual cooperation, we would like to continue as a dealer in the long run.

Base batteries are definitely the second most sought after brand in the market today. Competitively priced, good products and with a respon-sible service team, Base has ensured the durability of the brand. e maintenance-free range will help in ensuring better sales of the product.

Mr. Sunit SoodNational Battery House Manimajra, Chandigarh

Mr. Prashant KambojPacific Trading Company Agra

We have been a channel partner of Base Corporation for the last 5 years. e pack-aging, designer looks and quality ensures that the customers opt for the brand time and again. Specifically, we found the back up of the recently launched Nebula tubular models is very good in comparison to the other brands available in the market.

It has been 2 years since I have been associated with Base Corporation and the USP of this brand is that it is quite reasonably priced. More than 70% of my customers ask for a repeat of Base products. I look forward to a long term association with Base Corpo-ration.
