All eyes on marketing and communications

Demonstrating value, understanding your audience, creating positive experiences, delivering first-class content, meeting customer needs. These are just a few of the functions performed by publishing, marketing, and communications professionals, and important focus areas that led AIP to engage in the annual meeting of Association Media & Publishing (AM&P) that held its annual meeting in Washington, DC, this summer.

The AM&P is a membership organization that serves associations by helping them gain valuable insights from sales, strategy, and market research experts working in the not-for-profit association sector. Capitalizing on AIP’s new focus on marketing—following the creation of its own division last summer—several AIP staff members attended this key industry meeting in 2015: Jeff Bebee, Liz Dart Caron, Charles Day, Yolanda Matthews, Randy Nanna, Tracy Nolis-Schwab, Christina Unger, and Joe York. Bebee and Day also gave talks, and Nolis-Schwab accepted two AM&P EXCEL Awards on behalf of SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma.

As a major content publisher, physical scientists rely on AIP to provide them with the products and services they find meaningful. To do this well, we need to use marketing intelligence and keep aware of new and fresh approaches to marketing and communications.
