Position Description: Director of Engagement Are you a dynamic leader interested in enriching the lives of Jewish emerging adults through personal relationships, networks, and immersion experiences? Can you inspire and enable students to lead in ways that they have never imagined? If so, you might be the right candidate for a nonprofit located on a vibrant university campus with a dynamic student population and creative staff community. Northwestern University Hillel is looking for an enthusiastic extrovert, creative collaborator, and effective organizer ready to energize Jewish life on campus as our full‐time Director of Engagement. The Director of Engagement (DOE) will help to design and manage our engagement strategies and initiatives, with a particular focus on building relationships with individual students. The DOE will facilitate students’ capacity to create exciting and innovative projects that energize and enrich Jewish life on campus. Projects will demonstrate that Jewish value is relevant to students in ways that they may not have been able to envision prior to the student/DOE relationship. Qualifications: We seek a candidate who has a passionate commitment to Hillel’s mission of inspiring every Jewish student to make an enduring and meaningful commitment to Jewish life. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional, both to refine skills and to work on a vibrant college campus as part of a collaborative team. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, creative, engaging individual who can relate to both involved and uninvolved students and excite the campus community about Jewish life. Candidates should have a deep understanding of university culture and a commitment to Jewish life and both personal Jewish growth and the growth of Jewish students. Drive, flexibility, initiative, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills are essential. Candidate must be able to set interpersonal boundaries when working with young adults and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Responsibilities: Engagement • Oversee Campus Engagement Corps (CEC) project and provide mentorship and training for student interns focused on peer‐to‐peer relationship building and social networking. • Initiate creative approaches to engaging new students. • Create and implement engagement opportunities with uninvolved Jewish students. • Oversee and coordinate overall NU Hillel engagement plan, including creation of campus map and tracking of students through Hillel’s REACH software platform. • Act as an experiential Jewish educator who nurtures the Jewish growth of others through conversations and action. • Oversee CEC adviser initiative through fostering relationships with interns following their year in CEC. Immersion Experiences • Oversee Northwestern Hillel‐ sponsored journeys and experiences, including Taglit Birthright Israel
