Whatever you put into the blanks is a direct object.

me, te, nos If you’ve already seen reflexive
verbs, you are familiar with me, te, and nos. The direct object and reflexive forms for these three pronouns are identical.
The other pronouns-- lo, la, los, las – look a lot like the articles (except el > lo).

One at a time, please!One at a time, please! Here are some examples.
¿Tú me ves? María me mira. El profesor me llamó.
In each case, a different subject does something and I am the recipient of that action: Do you see me? Maria looks at me. The teacher called me.

La, la, la, la!La, la, la, la! Now look at these sentences:
¿Dónde compraste el diccionario? Lo compré en Amazon.com.
¿Dónde está mi pluma? La dejaste [you left it] en la mesa.
¿Dónde están los caramelos? Los comí.

La, lo las, los!La, lo las, los! ¿Dónde compraste el diccionario? >> Lo compré... ¿Dónde está mi pluma? >> La dejaste... ¿Dónde están los caramelos? >> Los comí.
In each sentence, we’ve replaced a noun (diccionario, pluma, caramelos) with a pronoun (lo, la, los):
el diccionario >> lo la pluma >> la los caramelos >> los
Note that we place the object pronoun in front of the verb, unlike in English.
Los comí.
