TRANSCRIPT
I t is with our deepest sadness
that we say good bye to a
fellow housemate, friend and
family member. On January 17,
2014 Gerald Detzler passed away
with staff at his side. Gerald
spent the last couple of years
with declining health which then
resorted him into a wheel
chair. Before that Gerald had
walked all his life. Gerald would
commonly be seen walking the
halls of Reidwoods making his
happy noises. Gerald would wait
at the door for his family to
come and see him and take him
for drives. Some of Gerald’s
favorite activities were sitting in
the recliner chair where he
would lounge across the arms
with his legs hanging off the side,
he also loved wandering outside,
going for van rides in the country
to see the farm animals and trac-
tors and so much more. Gerald
came to Reidwoods in 1995 from
Oxford Region. Before that he
had lived at home with his par-
ents and siblings. Gerald will be
truly missed by everyone who
knew him.

The Pledge To End Bullying
T H E P A T C H W O R K
See our
very own
natural
stars Fern,
Jim and Kyle
in the latest
commercial
for The
Pledge To
End Bully-
ing.
C TV has produced the first
of 2 anti-bullying commer-
cials with the talent from a few
organizations in this area: EDCL,
KW Hab, Cambridge C.L., Sun-
beam and Parents for C.L.
Joan Goncalves and Laurie Thom-
son had the pleasure of escorting
Fern, Kyle and Jim to the CTV
studios to film segments of the
commercial which were then
edited into 2 separate commer-
cials. These commercials aired
late December during shows of
Ellen Degeneres, Late Night with
Jimmy Fallon, CTV News at
Noon and at 6, Dr. Oz and the
Tomorrow People.
Each person received a copy of
their commercial and it is also
available to view on our website
at www.elmiradcl.com and The
P a t c h w o r k o n l i n e a t
www.elmiracommunityliving.com.
They all did such an awesome job
and are natural stars!!

We would like to recognize those full-time staff who have had exceptional attendance for the 2013-14
fiscal year, and thank them for being mindful of the amount of absences they used. It is a great cost savings
when absenteeism is not abused. Understandably we get illnesses, and some of us are luckier than others
when it comes to getting sick, but for those employees who are careful with their absenteeism – we wish
to applaud their dedication and have thanked them with a monetary acknowledgement as well as a recog-
nition letter to their file. Of course this person stands alone…. Kim Detweiler – PERFECT ATTENDANCE–FIVE YEARS
IN A ROW!!!! (amazing!!)
Also PERFECT attendance! Sarah Cadeau, Randy Martin, Gerry Smith, Cheryl Peterson, Laurie Thom-
son.
Only ONE DAY absent! Jeanette Kraal, Rodger Hanna Only TWO DAYS absent! Bernadette Budicky McCandles, Sheri Dowdall, Sandy Evans, Bill Rogers, Di-
ane Bauman-MacLachlan, Michelle Ingram Smith
