INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Digital transformation… Disruption… Everyone’s talking about it, but

what does it really mean for the Healthcare Industry? How will

hospitals or care institutes handle digitization? What can do they

actually do?

Based on the experience, created by the BlueHealth Innovation

Center over the past 5 years, we’ll get hands down at work during

this session. No brainstorm in vain without concrete actions, but a

condensed workshop resulting in a projectidea with a plan.

During this workshop, we use the same techniques used during

hackathons and innovation camps to bring up the best ideas.

In half a day, we’ll work with your idea!

5

FOR WHOM?

• Management teams from hospitals, care institutes or

organizations active in the healthcare industry

• Presence of CEO en top management

• Good mix of profiles (e.g. medical, paramedical and general

management)

• Presence of IT representatives desired

• The more presence, the more impact during the workshop

• Max number of participants: 20

6

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE?

7

During this half-day workshop, we’ll work around the general theme

of digital transformation, consisting of 3 main parts:

Based on some concrete examples from other industries, we’ll utilitze

a specifically developed brainstorm technique, aimed at Healthcare,

to get the best ideas. After that, a ranking is made and the chosen

idea is more elaborated on to get to a project plan.

After this workshop, the team has an impactful idea as well as a

proposed action plan. But after that, it is really up to you to start

executing the plan.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

This workshop costs 5000 euro (without taxes).

This doesnot contain the cost of room rental or catering or any T&E

expenses.

All the preparation, the necessary materials and documentation, as

well as the presence of the coaches are foreseen by the

BlueHealth Innovation Center.

WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?

This session can take place at your offices.

If desired, they can equally take place at one of our premises (C-

Mine Crib in Genk, StartupVillage in Antwerp* or De Krook in Gent)

or at any location of your choice (but the cost of this external

location will be charged) which has enough space to accomodate

FURTHER INFO

This workshop takes up half a day, by preference in the afternoon, to

make sure there is ample overflow time. (If desired, this can be

extended to a full day, in which the technology part is extended

further).

We don’t need a lot to run this workshop. Foremost a big enough

room that can host the size of the group and that gives enough

moving space for the brainstorm. A beamer, projection screen and

flipcharts are also required.

If the group is too big, it can be split up in several sub-groups, each

working on their own idea.

This will be discussed beforehand.

PROGRAM

PREPARATION

During a first meeting, we’ll discuss how to best set it up in the

context of the organization and the desired outcomes. This meeting

is conducted in most cases with the person in charge of the

workshop within the organization.

We’ll also decide whether there should be a central theme, as well as

the size of the group or sub-groups and any other specific

requirement.

14

In the first part of this workshop, we’ll cover a number of innovations

and trends that are acting up on the technology stage.

We’ll look at what other sectors are up to so we can take inspiration

from these to apply within the healthcare industry or to approach a

number of domains in an innovative way.

This is not a rollercoaster of apps, but a look at technology and the

possible scenario’s that arise.

WORKSHOP – PART 1

Inspiration

15

In the second part, we’ll start cracking those ideas that are enabled

by the technological evolutions and that can help the organization

move forward. Afterwards, these ideas are expanded and deepened.

At last, we’ll look at potiential impact so we can start ranking the –

hopefully – dozen of ideas.

We do this based on a thorough methodology that is adapted

specifically to the healthcare segment.

After this, we are ready for the next step.

WORKSHOP – PART 2

Ideation

16

The final part of the workshop looks at how we can make sure that

the proposed idea will start to live within the organization.

What are all the aspects related to the execution of the idea? Which

components are already present? And what needs to happen to

create the delta between the two?

We’ll also decide who will be the team that will continue to shape

this idea and start the execution process. At last, we can list topics

that will arise during execution and that can be debunked

beforehand.

As such, we’ll end up with a concrete action plan that will convert the

idea from a dream to a reality.

discussed who will be the central contact point. The team of

BlueHealth Innovation Center remains at your disposal as a sounding

board.

Also, some of the members of BHIC are specialised in further

guidance of the appraoch. If desired, formal introductions can be

made to take this further and get the necessary help during the

implementation phase.
