Ideas to inspire…. ‘Draw’ a picture to retell a story or event using any simple paint tool

‘That reminds me…’ strategy – students retell a personal experience through

drawing inspired by a picture book story

Create a rebus story using the ‘stamps’ tool in TuxPaint

Use two laptops to play ‘barrier’ games – one student draws and describes what

they are doing, while the other follows the oral directions. When completed,

students compare images for likeness

Trace the student’s hand, scan in the tracing then have the student decorate using

a digital art program such as TuxPaint or KidPix

Co-create artwork on an Interactive Whiteboard

Experiment with patterning using stamp tools or different brush tools

Design a character for a story using Build Your Wild Self

Practise ‘click and drag’ mouse skills while creating an image

Create patterned paper which when printed out can be used as wrapping paper

for small items

Create a template for TuxPaint of a number line, hundred board etc then use the

stamp tools to interact with the template on an Interactive Whiteboard

Design a story map

Tell number stories using stamp tools

Explore 2-D shapes and experiment with flipping, sliding and turning of shapes as

well as symmetry and mirror images

Buddy young students with older ‘mentors’ to create digital story books
