Handle the camera with extreme care to prevent damage to the highly sensitive video image sensor! Do not touch the glass plate of the video image sensor!

Connection, commissioning and maintenance must only be carried out by qualified personnel! Observe the following:

• Do not remove covers as this could lead to a fatal electric shock.

• Connect low-voltage cameras only to a class 2 insulated mains supply.

This camera will only operate correctly and safely if it is properly transported, stored, installed and fitted and correctly used and maintained.

4 Intended use

The CCBC1225-LP processor-controlled digital CCD-DSP color camera is intended to be used for monitoring purposes in CCTV systems. It is designed for interior use (domestic, commercial and industrial environments).

Please contact the manufacturer if the camera is to be installed in a hygienic (hospital) and/or failsafe environment or in an industrial environment with high EMC conditions.

5 Operational Conditions

Warning

The camera will only function safely and correctly and to full technical specifications when installed in a suitable environment!

For this reason, please observe the following:

• Do not expose the camera to rain, excessive humidity, steam or oil vapors (e.g. in kitchens). If necessary, mount the camera in a protective housing see chapter (6.1 Accessories, page 5).

• Do not expose the camera to temperatures other than those that lie within the specified ambient temperature range (see chapter "7 Specifications", page 6).

• Do not install the camera close to sources of interference (e.g. X-ray radiation, strong radio or magnetic signals).

• Do not expose the camera to vibration.

• Do not allow the camera to become excessively dirty. If necessary, mount the camera in a protective housing see chapter (6.1 Accessories, page 5).

9 Installation

Important notes

To ensure correct operation and avoid EMC problems, the camera must be installed in line with current EMC practices.

The camera may only be installed in a location where the specified operational conditions can be permanently guaranteed (see chapter "5 Operational Conditions", page 4).

If the camera is to be installed in a protective housing, follow the mounting instructions provided with the housing!

9.1 Mounting the camera The camera can be mounted to a wall bracket, ceiling bracket, pan/tilt mount or other suitable mount.

Fasten the camera to the mounting bracket using one of the 1/4-inch threaded holes. There is a ¼-inch threaded hole on both the top and bottom of the device.

When used in an industrial environment (e.g. an engineering works), prevent the camera from revolving by locking it in position with four suitable bolts (these fit into the four threaded holes the top and bottom side of the device).

9.2 Mounting the cable guide

In the case of cameras with DC or video signal controlled lenses, the cable guide provided can be used to retain the cables securely in place.

Use the four bolts provided to fasten the cable guide to the underside of the camera, having first laid the control cable in the recess in the guide.

10 Commissioning

Important notes

The camera may only be connected up and commissioned by qualified personnel!

Do not attempt to commission the camera if there are signs of exterior damage!

Do not point the camera at the sun! Direct sunlight can damage the camera, even when switched off.

Do not point the camera at extremely bright light sources! Bright light sources can cause vertical smear.

Vertical smear in the picture when bright light sources are present are not indicative of a malfunction. They are a characteristic of CCD imaging devices.

10.1 Mounting the lens

Select a suitable lens for your purpose (see chapter "6.1 Accessories", page 5).

A DC controlled lens allows the technical features of the camera to be used to the full and gives the best results for outdoor or indoor use.

A video signal controlled lens can also be used for indoor and outdoor areas, however not all the technical features of the camera are available.

Lenses with manual aperture control are particularly suited to indoor use.

Remove the protective cap over the lens.

Keep the protective cap in a safe place!

Warning

Don not touch the glass plate at the front of the CCD Video image sensor!

When using a C-Mount lens: screw the lens directly onto the camera.

When using a CS-Mount lens: screw the lens directly onto the camera.

10.2 Connecting the camera

Please take note of the relevant technical information when connecting the camera (chapter "7 Specifications", page 6)!

Connecting the lens (DC controlled):

Connect the lens control cable to the mini DIN connector on the camera (the control cable is delivered with the lens).

Pin allocation (looking onto the connector):

Connecting the lens (video signal controlled):

Connect the lens control cable to the terminals.

Connecting the video signal (FBAS):

Using a 75 ohm coaxial cable, make a connection between the BNC connector on the camera and the monitor (or to a video crossbar etc.).

Connecting the video signal (Y/C):

Connect the mini DIN connector to the monitor (or to a video crossbar etc.).

Connecting external synchronization:

Purpose: time-synchronization of images from several cameras in one system.

Connect the external synchronization signal to the camera's BNC connector using a 75 ohm coaxial cable.

Alternatively, terminals EXT HD/SYNC and EXT VD/LHD can be used.

Connecting external synchronization (HD):

Purpose: time-synchronization of the images from several cameras in one system.

Connect the external synchronization signal to the EXT HD/SYNC and GND terminals.

A BUS or a Y connection can be chosen. The type of connection must correspond to the setting in the ON-SCREEN menu.

Connecting ext. synchronization (VD/LHD):

Purpose: time-synchronization of the images from several cameras in one system.

Connect the external synchronization signal to the EXT VD/LHD and GND terminals.

A BUS or a Y connection can be chosen. The type of connection must correspond to the setting in the ON-SCREEN menu (see chapter "11.2.3 SYNC (external synchronization)", page 35)!

Connecting the control input:

Can remotely switche using the control input:

The selection of the desired function takes place via the ON-SCREEN menu or using set-up software.

Image memory properties:

Up to 4 video images can be stores. A new image will then replace the oldest image (ring memory).

Video images stored for as long as the power supply remains connected.

Stored video images can be displayed via the ON-SCREEN menu or using set-up software. They are available at the VIDEO OUT BNC connector.

Connect the control cable to the appropriate terminals.

Connecting the RS485 data interface:

This connection is only required when the camera is to be set up and controlled using set-up software. The maximum BUS length is 1 200 m.

Connect the interface cable to the RS485 terminals.

Pin allocation:

+ = A - = B

Connecting the remote data interface (TTL):

A TTL control signal is connected via an interface converter (see chapter "6 Order Information", page 5). The maximum cable length is 3.0 m.

Connecting the power supply:

Note: The camera automatically recognizes whether a direct current (12 V) supply or alternating current (24 V/50 Hz) supply is connected.

Connect the power supply to the middle and right terminals. When connecting a direct current supply, ensure polarity is correct (the terminals are labeled)!

It may be necessary to use a shielded cable where external sources of interference are present.

Connect the shielding to the FG terminal.

The camera will now transmit images.

10.3 Setting flange focal distance

The flange focal distance is distance from the CCD video image sensor device to the flange of the lens. It must be set to optimize image clarity.

To adjust the flange focal distance, release the locking screw, adjust image clarity using the adjustment screw and then retighten the locking screw.

Risk of damage to camera! Ensure that the locking screw is loosened before turning the adjustment screw. Avoid forcing the adjustment screw

The focal length is increased by rotating clockwise (for C-Mount lenses) and decreased by rotating counter-clockwise (for CS-Mount lenses).

10.3.1 Fixed focus lenses

Loosen the locking screw by turning it counter-clockwise.

Open the diaphragm to its fullest extent to minimize focal field depth (either manually or via the ON-SCREEN menu); see Ch. "11 Setting Camera Parameters", page 28).

If the images are overexposed, or for lenses with automatic diaphragm adjustment: reduce lighting levels or hold a neutral grey filter in front of the lens.

Set the focus to ∞.

Point the camera at an object (at a distance of at least 2000 times the focal length of the lens).

Using the adjustment screw, alter the flange focal distance until the image is clearly in focus.

Re-tighten the locking screw to fix the setting.

10.3.2 Varifocal lenses

Loosen the locking screw by turning it counter-clockwise.

Open the diaphragm to its fullest extent to minimize focal field depth (either manually or via the ON-SCREEN menu); see Ch. "11 Setting Camera Parameters", page 28).

If the images are overexposed, or for lenses with automatic diaphragm adjustment: reduce lighting levels or hold a neutral grey filter in front of the lens.

Set the focus to ∞.

Select the wide angle (min. focal length) setting.

Point the camera at an object (at a distance of at least 2000 times the focal length of the lens).

Using the adjustment screw, alter the flange focal distance until the image is clearly in focus.

Select the telescopic (max. focal length) setting and adjust the focus to improve image clarity.

Reset the camera to the minimum focal length (wide angle).

Fine adjust the flange focal distance using the adjustment screw.

Re-tighten the locking screw to fix the setting.

10.4 Remote connection Connect the camera as shown below to set the camera up remotely from a PC using remote control software. Alternatively, you can use the ON-SCREEN menu to configure the camera (see chapter 11).

The bus termination can be dispensed with when only one camera is connected to the RS485 bus.

10.5 Remote Control Software

The software is designed to remotely control the following 3 models (via the previous topology diagrams

• CCBS1225-LP(D/N Color)

• CCBC1225-LP(Normal Color)

• CCBB1225-LC (B&W)

These 3 models can be controlled remotely when used in combination with each other: they must be connected in parallel to the remote control cable.

• SIEMENS-B (duplex)

• SIEMENS-U (simplex)

10.5.1 System Requirements Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000, or Windows XP

CPU: Intel Pentium II (Celeron) 300MHz or higher

RAM 128 MB or higher

VGA: AGP, Video RAM 8 MB or higher (800 x 600, 24 bpp or higher)

10.5.2 Type of connection modes - Topology

• Broadcast Mode

Allows connection to multiple cameras (each camera receives the same information)

Note:

1. SIEMENS-B : not possible to control multiple cameras. 2. SIEMENS-U: multiple cameras can be controlled (without

knowing CAM IDs) 3. Select the camera type: CCBS /CCBC / CCBB. 4. Click on ”Connect”. SIEMENS-B : the software will display the setting windows when the connection has been established successfully. SIEMENS-U: regardless of the success or failure of the connection, the setting windows will be displayed.

• ID Select Mode Allow individual cameras to be connected directly

1. Either SIEMENS-B or U .

2. The CAM ID is required to establish communication.

3. To register the connected cameras, the following 3 items must be filled in.

• NAME : User choice.

• Ref.ID : Enter camera ”CAM ID”

• TYPE : Select CCBS / CCBC / CCBB.

4. Once registration has been completed, select the camera that you wish to control from the list.

5. Click on ”Connect”.

SIEMENS-B : the software will display the setting windows when the connection has been established successfully.

SIEMENS-U : Regardless of the success or failure of the connection, the setting windows will be displayed.

10.5.3 Basic Setup Mode

Allows Basic remote setup of the camera parameters

Saves details of commands transmitted via the software to a file.

With using ”SIEMENS-U”, connect the camera and then click on the CONNECT button before using this function.

• CHECK FILE

The contents of the FILE can be checked. The file itself contains no more than the address and data, but this function allows you to check operation and values easily.

11 Setting Camera Parameters

The camera parameters are set via the ON-SCREEN menu. A number of camera functions can also be activated via the ON-SCREEN menu (e.g. display stored images).

All parameters that are set and saved to memory when in the ON-SCREEN menu remain stored in the camera when the power supply is disconnected. However, stored video images will be lost.

The ON-SCREEN menu is displayed in English on the monitor. The video image remains visible in the background.

11.1 Navigation in the ON-SCREEN menu

The control buttons for the ON-SCREEN menu are located on the left-hand side of the camera behind the sliding cover.

Open the sliding cover.

The control buttons have the following functions:

"Steps down" or decreases a value

"Steps up" or increases a value

Press briefly (< 1.5 seconds): to access the ON-SCREEN menu or to access the selected submenu = next level down

Press and hold (> 1.5 seconds): to save setting or to exit the current submenu = next level up

Shutter speed can be increased to clearly film fast-moving objects.

However, this decreases the light sensitivity.

When filming stationary objects, light sensitivity can be increased by selecting a slower shutter speed.

AES is only recommended for manual lenses.

The camera automatically selects a suitable shutter speed within a definable range.

Set the range of shutter speeds as required:

LOW SHUTT.LIM. = shutter speed lower limit HIGH SHUTT.LIM. = shutter speed upper limit

When using lenses with automatic aperture control in AES mode, the fastest shutter speed should be set to 1/50 second to avoid adjustment errors.

The clarity of video images can be affected by over- and under-exposed areas when filming against a light source. The exposure mode offers a number of options to minimize this problem.

Align the camera to the required position.

The video image will be overlaid by a grid of 7 x 7 = 49 fields. Exposure control can be set individually for each field.

The first field flashes.

Briefly press "▼/-" to darken this field. It is then obscured.

Exposure control adjustment can be activated in the fields that are still visible.

The next field flashes.

Define the darkening factor for all 49 fields.

11.2.3 SYNC (external synchronization)

When using several cameras in a system, image generation time offset can lead to delays when switching between images from several cameras on one monitor. To avoid this, image generation must be synchronized on all cameras in the system.

The cameras can be synchronized using the mains supply frequency or an external signal.

AE LEVEL controls the aperture on DC controlled lenses.

Adjusting the AE LEVEL with video signal controlled lenses displaces the control range of the lens.

Generally, increasing the AE LEVEL brightens the video image, while decreasing it makes the image darker.

When using a lens with manual aperture control, the LEVEL settings should be made with an aperture setting between 8 and 12.

Set the AE LEVEL as required.

VIDEO IRIS (basic aperture setting)

This menu is only effective with video signal controlled lenses. It is used to adjust the basic aperture setting.

Important: only set the aperture using the method described here! Other methods are not applicable to this camera!

Direct the camera towards an illuminated object.

Move the ALC regulator to the center position between PEAK and AVERAGE.

Set the LEVEL regulator of the lens so that a value between 60 and 68 is displayed in the ON-SCREEN menu.

The lens is now set correctly, regardless of the resultant picture brightness.

Readjust brightness in the AE LEVEL menu.

Important: do not subsequently adjust the level regulator of the lens again!

The camera controls amplification automatically up to a maximum limit (adjustable).

GAIN - AGC - ANALOGUE (analogue amplification) In AGC mode:

The camera uses analogue amplification. This procedure causes less image interference and is preferable to digital amplification.

GAIN - AGC - DIGITAL (digital amplification) In AGC mode:

The camera uses digital amplification. Digital amplification only comes into effect when the analogue amplification range has reached its limit.

In this mode, any desired color can be defined as white. Example: A white object that is permanently illuminated with red light must appear white on the monitor.

Direct the camera towards the object, which is illuminated by colored light.

Select MWB|ONE PUSH and briefly press ENTER.

The menu shows CAL. and the camera will perform an automatic white balance recalibration.

The menu shows END as soon as white balance recalibration has finished.

The object is now displayed in white on the monitor.

MWB (manual color setting)

These color temperatures (in Kelvin) can be specified as fixed values for the white balance control, e.g. under artificial lighting.

In these menus, the camera's serial interface to the PC is configured.

These settings must be made in the ON-SCREEN menu before the camera is connected to the PC.

INPUT (remote control input)

The remote control input of the camera (AL IN) is configured in these menus.

INPUT - TYPE (switching behavior)

Select ACTIVE Low, if a function is to be triggered by a make contact (between AL IN and GND).

Select ACTIVE High, if a function is to be triggered by a break contact (between AL IN and GND).

INPUT - FUNCTION (function)

Select PIC. STORAGE when video images are to be saved by remote control.

Select IR-CUT OUT when switching between color and black&white mode is to take place via remote control.

Note: When a remote control function is activated, the corresponding commands in the ON-SCREEN menu are switched off.

11.2.9 EXIT (finish)

There are 3 ways to end parameterization and exit the ON-SCREEN menu.

EXIT - SAVE (save settings)

Briefly press SAVE.

All current settings (changed and unchanged) will be stored in the camera. They are also retained when the power supply is disconnected.

EXIT - CANCEL (discard settings)

Briefly press CANCEL.

All changed settings will be discarded. The camera reverts to the settings that were valid before the ON-SCREEN menu was opened.

EXIT - DEFAULT (restore factory settings)

Briefly press DEFAULT.

All parameters settings are discarded. The camera reverts to factory settings. It is now as delivered.

Close the sliding cover after parameterization!

12 Troubleshooting

Before starting to fault-find, ensure that there really is a malfunction.

Phenomena that are attributable to component design features may be incorrectly interpreted as malfunctions.

The following phenomena are normal and do not represent a malfunction:

Phenomenon Cause Remedy

Color rendition in the ATW mode is unstable.

This is the normal attribute of the automatic white balance function (ATW).

-

Vertical lines are visible in the image ("smear").

The picture appears unfocussed.

The CCD video image sensor reacts with great sensitivity to very bright objects (e.g. light sources).

Do not point the camera not directly at bright objects or light sources.

A noise can be heard when switching between the color and black&white modes.

The noise is caused by the mechanical operation of the infrared-filter and is quite normal.

The function of the CCD video image sensor has been impaired by a excessively high ambient temperatures.

Lower ambient temperature. if not possible: Install the camera in a protective housing (see chapter "6.1 Accessories", page 5).

White dots appear in the picture.

The shutter speed is too slow. Try other camera settings that allow a shorter exposure time (see chapter "11.2.1 SHUTTER (shutter speed)", page 30).

The camera switches to black&white mode for no apparent reason.

The camera has responded to reduced brightness levels by automatically switching to the black&white mode in order to increase IR sensitivity (IR-CUT function).

If you prefer to control switch-over manually, disable the automatic function in the "IR-CUT" menu (see chapter "11.2.5 CONFIGURE (configuration)", page 39).

Undesired effects that cannot be attributed to the phenomena described above are generally a result of faulty or inappropriate parameterization.

Malfunctions are usually caused by faults in camera peripherals.

Fault Cause Remedy The power supply is either not or incorrectly connected.

Check power supply connection cable. (If DC, ensure correct polarity!)

The power supply adapter is defective.

Replace the power supply adapter.

The video cable is not connected or defective.

Connect the video cable or replace it.

No image available from the camera.

The monitor (or a distribution component ) is not connected or defective.

Connect the monitor or replace it. Check the function of all distribution components.

The focal length is improperly adjusted.

Set the focal length correctly.

With video signal or DC controlled lenses: the control cable of the lens is not connected to the camera.

Connect the lens to the camera.

Use a shielded power supply cable.

Image quality is poor and cannot be improved.

Camera function is affected by external interference. Install the camera in a protective housing.

Increase the range between IR CUT IN and IR CUT OUT or increase the hysteresis setting.

The camera switches uncontrollably back and forth between the color and black&white modes under changeable light conditions.

The hysteresis setting is incorrect. Or:

The amplification-dependent automatic function has been wrongly set combined with inappropriate shutter functions.

Do not use the automatic function if light conditions vary often and excessively. Switch manually via a control cable.

The interface cable is either not or incorrectly connected or defective.

Check the interface cable and the connection to the terminals.

The PC with remote control software cannot establish a connection to the camera. The camera interface to the

PC is incorrectly configured. Correct the interface configuration.

It is not possible to display a stored video image.

A power supply failure has erased the camera memory.

(No solution)

If you are unable to successfully identify the cause of a fault:

Do not attempt to repair the camera yourself! You may cause irreparable damage!

If you have any questions about identifying and solving problems, please contact your local Siemens sales and service outlet.

Faults that cannot be rectified by correcting parameter settings or by repairs to camera peripherals must be rectified by the manufacturer.

Return the camera to SIEMENS in its original packaging, with the protective cap fitted and accompanied by an exact description of the fault and the original delivery note :

13 Care and Maintenance

The camera is maintenance-free.

Light dirt build-up on the camera body can be wiped off with a clean cloth.

If the unit tends to get excessively dirty, it should be mounted in a protective housing (see chapter "6.1 Accessories", page 5).

For lens care: please refer to the lens manufacturer's operating instructions.

14 Disposal

At the end of its useful life, the camera should be disposed of in accordance with regional disposal regulations for electronic devices.
