Cybersafety, Cybersecurity, & Cyberethics

DIGITALFOOTPRINTEverything you put online is permanent.

Even if you hit the delete button!

CYBERETHICS & DIGITAL

FOOTPRINT

What you do now online and in your life will impact your future.

Think about the "seeds" that you are sowing as you connect online.

Will the seeds you plant grow into a positive representation of who you are?

CYBERETHICS

First impressions start with your digital footprint. People are using Google to find out information about us. How will others measure you from a search on Google?

"The measure of a man's real character is what he would do if he know he would never be found out." - Thomas Babington Macaulay

Make sure your character measures up...online and off!

KEEP IT CLEAN !

Share only appropriate information and always use respectful language.

CYBERETHICS

Imagine all of the things you do while online. Now imagine if it were kept in a journal.

Would you be comfortable if anyone could read that journal?

LOOK IN THE MIRROR!

Imagine having the mirror attached to your computer or device.

If you looked in it and saw someone in the reflection, would they approve of what you are doing or saying online?

CYBERBULLYINGDon’t be a bystander to cyberbullying. Show support to the target and tell an adult!

CYBER-BULLYING

The damage to the heart of someone who has been cyberbullied is permanent.

We can apologize.

But emotional scars will remain inside and WON'T go away.

THINK BEFORE YOU

SHARE!Information that you are putting online is like toothpaste coming out of the tube. Once it is out, it won’t all go back in the tube!

Passwords and toothbrushes are also very similar in the fact that you NEVER want to share passwords.

CYBER-SECURITY

&SAFETY

Protect yourself by setting strong passwords and passcode locks on your digital devices.

Keep personal information private!

UNPLUG!Most of your life is "plugged in" but don't forget to balance your digital life and your real life.

Unplug and go offline to connect with the world around you!

RESEARCH& FILTER

The amount of information on the internet is amazing! As digital citizens, you must be good at "straining" or filtering what is factual and useful and what is not.

Evaluate what you find online for trustworthiness and credibility.

DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

The mistakes you make online today will be Googleable tomorrow.

Hopefully our mistakes won't be too big.

If a Band Aid won't help, then we have a problem!
