3. DIGITAL INDICATORS

4. APPLICATION OF INDICATORS

INTRODUCTION• INDICATION is a way of Showing or

Expressing a State or Level of Something.

• Now in Engineering there are Main Two type of Indicators.

1. Analog Indicators2. Digital Indicators

Page 4: DIGITAL AND ANALOG INDICATORS

ANALOG INDICATORS• An Instrument which Indicates Values by

the means of continuous scale within which any value may be specified.

• Most of the Time a Pointer is used to Indicate the Readings.

TYPES OF ANALOG INDICATORS

1. Fixed Scale Indicators:-The type of the Indicators in which the Scale Does not move with the Pointer.

2. Movable Scale IndicatorsThe Type of the Scale in which the Scale Moves with the Change in the Input but the Pointer Remains Constant.

Straight Uneven Scale Indicator

• This is a Fixed Scale Type of Indicator.• Where there is no Movement of the Scale while

Deflection in the Pointer.• This is used mainly in the Speedometers of Vehicle and

the Analog Power meter.

Circular Recorer with the Concentric Indication

• The Recorder is a Device which Stores the Data of any of the Output given by an Instrument.

• These Type of the recorders Record the data as well as Indicate the Output in the Real Time.

• This Instrument is a Combination of the Fixed Scale and Movable Indicator because of its Recording Capability

Multiple Scale Indicators

• When there is a Requirement of Measuring the Multiple Outputs with a Single Scale the Multiple Scale Indicators are Used.

• It is a Cost Effective as well as the Convenient way of the Indication of More than One parameter.

• It is also a Part of the Fixed Scale Indicator.

Gauge Dial Type Indicator

• Gauge Dial Type of the Indicator is the Most Familiar and Most Dealed Indicator for an Instrumentation Engineer.

• In this type of the Indicator is Used in some of the Very Vibrating Atmosphere.

• Because of the Added Glycerine the Alignment of the Pointer never gets Disturbed.

Inclined Manometer Type Indicator

• In the Inclined type of the Manometer the Filled Liquid Travels in the Inclined Direction bacause of the Pressure applied at Input.

• It is a Non Movable Scale Type Indicator.

• The Liquid inside manometer will Describe the amount of the Pressure applied on it.

Rotating Disc Type Movable Scale Indicator

• These type of the Indicator are Mostly seen in the Houses,Colleges,Hospitals,Gyms and at Most of the Place.

• This is the Movable Scale Type of the Indicator.

Digital Indicators

• Digital indicators present the readout in numerical form.

• Fewer mistakes are made in reading a number than in solve an indication on a scale.

• A speedometer is an analog indicator for rate of speed where mileage travelled is digitally shown on a counter.

• A positive displacement meter indicates total flow and generally provide with a digital counter.
