Digipak AnalysisBy

Aaron Pye

Take That Name of the band and then the name of the album at the top in white but clearly in different fonts to show the difference between the two.

Sandy background across both the front and back cover it highlights them a little more as they are all wearing black.

Spine of the album is the same as the title of the album in font and colour.

The back of the album only showing there feet which gives us the view that they are modest and don’t care about having close ups of their faces on the front or back of the album.

List of songs is in a small font and doesn't’t really stand out, similar font to the album name.

The 4 band members walking together, not in focus and also in quite dark dull colour’s similar to the whole album.

Established band so you don’t really need to see there faces.

Whole album has a mature feel to it because they are an older generation boy band.

Picture behind the CD holder within the case is just of them walking down the road with their backs facing us showing that they don’t care about showing us their faces.

Same sandy colour and dullness in the background so that it doesn't’t take the attention away from the CD itself.

Closest shot to a close up but its blurred so that you cant see the face properly this then tells me again that they don’t like to be in the spotlight.

Other three are in the background but still have more focus than the one at the front.

Kings of Leon

Name of band in the corner not very big and does not really stand out.

Name of album also very small and doesn’t really stand out.

The whole album has a green theme to it.

All 4 band members cut and put together into one image.

The font of the album and the band name has a digital theme to it.

An owl mask in the middle of the 4 images, to create a sense of estrange with there audience.

Owl wings are open and you can see the feathers.

Name of band still in a digital green font as well as the name of the album.

The track list has all the songs in white to stand out from the green background as well as the green coding in between the songs.

Back of the album is the back of the head which is on the front, covered by the feathers of the owl.

Same colour theme on the back of the album, to the front of the album.

The booklet inside the album contains the pictures of all 4 band members this is to assure all fans know what each band member looks like and that the fans have a piece of memorabilia to have for there selves because they bought the album.

Katy Perry

1 CD design, similar to the colour’s of a candy cane or sweet colour.

1 CD design looks like a doughnut so again links to sweets and treats trying to link Katy Perry to something sweet and nice.

The pink clouds represent candy floss, so again something sweet but bad for you.

Almost naked Katy Perry to create sex appeal for her this is due to the mass male attention she gets.

Back cover of her album still has the theme of candy floss, with the pink writing showing the track list.

More sex appeal is used on this promotional poster, as she is wearing a provocative outfit leaning on 2 big cakes.

The dress very over the top and is very Katy Perry.

Rihanna

Showing her face, because her face is very recognizable and clear to see to attract her fans.

Red lips indicate an amount of sex appeal as that is the connotation with the colour red or even a little bit of danger.

Her face being on the cover is also there as it fits the conventions of a pop album, which helps the audience identify her.

Her name and name of the album are very distant on the cover and don’t really stand out, I feel this is because she expects her fans to know it hers just through her face.

The flowers as the CD covers connotes that the album is about a sense of love love and is aimed more towards girls.

Inside the album/digipak there is a long foldout image of Rihanna which creates a sense of sex appeal as she is covered by roses which may also be seen as slightly voyeurism.

Picture of her sitting in peaceful place looking at the floor, can only see one eye but still creates some sex appeal with the image.

Name of her record label. Put on twice.

List of songs written in pink gives the album a girly pop feel.

White pink feel covers the album which gives a girly feel across the whole album.

However the conventions are met as the artist and the list of songs are on opposite sides.
