PHOTOSHOP…

I have used versions of Photoshop in the past but over the past few weeks i have learned some valuable new skills within the program to aid my Theatre Design projects. To the right is an example of a costume design and how I have applied fabrics to my sketches. It is a very basic design though there are many layers which took me a while to master.

I am constantly learning new things about the software and have experimented with blending and layering in the following mood boards. The first mood board is very feminine and it id displaying a fantasy woodland. I have blended and layered colours to get a sense of the mood.

3D MAX STUDIOS…

As I have never used 3D max before I took some time getting used to the settings. Here I have drawn out a table and simple stage by constructing a series of boxes. For the legs I drew out the shape and then used the lithe to mould the 3D shape. I created the bowl in the same way.

In the blue shape on the right I have transformed a simple box shape rendering it and completely changing the way it appears. I have created hollows in the shape and distorted the angles.

This slide shows the various views given when using the software I have experimented with the various shapes that can be created such as pyramids and stairs and doors. I determined the layout by using the views (left) the enable the set to be level and you can see from every angle how it is working. To get the surfaces this tool box appears and you can determine and search for various materials to add.

To get the desired surface on the stage to show the design I used the same process as before using images from the internet to create a back drop and a floor. I have also sourced a wooden surface to show the type of table. Adding the Various textures makes the drawing more realistic and gives a better sense of how the set will eventually work. The backdrop is of a sunset and I have added detail to the curtains using Photoshop to make them stand out more. The floor was also altered on Photoshop to sow the 2 different types and also the detailing in the marble to make it look richer.

AUTO CAD…

This is a 2D programme and I struggled to get my head around it I have created a number of shapes and manipulated them using a variety of commands. I have also started to draw a floppy disc however some of the measurements are out.
