People Who Help Us -- Eid

In this pack, you can find activities and ideas to do with your child at home.

The first two weeks we would have been learning about “People who help us”, Doctors, Builders and Firefighters! The following week we would have been learning about Eid!

Please, read with your child the story of “Three Little Pigs” and talk about the different materials they used to build their houses!

Doctors:

Can you create a teddy bear or dolls hospital at home? You will need dolls, teddies, any old bandages and plasters your parent’s do not need or use bits of fabric or ribbons as bandages. Make beds for them, pretend to take their temperature, pretend to give them medicine.

Have you got any reading books at home with stories about going to the doctors or the hospital you can share with your family?

Can you use paper and pens to create your own Nurse or Doctor’s badge? Can your family help you make prescription pads and notes to write your

patient details on?

Firemen:

Have you got any books at home about Firefighters that you can share with your family?

Have you got any toy fire engines at home? How many have you got? Can you use your building blocks to make houses and then pretend they

are on fire and drive your fire engine there to put the fire out? Maybe an ambulance is needed if someone is injured?

Can you watch Fireman Sam on Youtube? Can you tell someone in your family what happened?

Watch the video with the sirens of the different vehicles (fire engine, ambulance, police car). Can you recognise the sirens? Next time you will hear a siren, can you guess what vehicle will be?

Builders:

What construction have you got at home? What can you make with it? What can other people in your family make? What colours are you using? How many bricks are you using? Who can make the tallest tower?

Can you go onto Cbeebies iPlayer and watch Topsy and Tim Busy Builders? Can you go onto Cbeebies Games and play Bing Build and Play:

Can you use a space to build your own den? You can use large boxes, fabric, sheets, chairs, cushions. How many people can fit in your den?

Can you draw a picture of where you might like to live? Is it a castle? Is it big/small? How many windows does it have? Who is going to live there with you? What has it got inside, for example, a swimming pool?

Can you act out the story of “Three Little Pigs” with your family? What was the best material to build a house with? Have you got any sticks to try and make a house?

Can you join in dancing and singing on YouTube Debbie and Friends – Three Little Pigs Song?

What vehicles do builders need to use? Have you got any? Can you put the vehicles in with your construction and make a game up?

Eid:

Can you go onto Cbeebies and watch a video about the celebration of Eid? https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/puzzles/lets-celebrate-eid

Will you have mehndi designs on your hand? Can you take a photo and show the adults when you come back to school?

Can you make a lantern paper craft to celebrate Eid? Can you make a celebration card for Eid? What will you write on your

card? You can find lots of colouring to celebrate Eid in this pack!

Firefighters work very long hours. They work in the day and in the night. They keep us safe all day.

What Job Does a Firefighter Do?A firefighter’s job is to keep everyone safe. They put out fires.

They use their equipment to help rescue people who are trapped.

Where Do They Work?Firefighters work in a fire station. Fire stations are all around the country.Firefighters travel in their fire engines. Fire engines are red. The fire enginehas flashing lights that are red and blue.

What Do Firefighters Wear?

Strong hat: to protect their head from falling objects.

Fireproof clothes: to stop them from being injured when going into burning buildings.

Radio: to talk to one another and listen to instructions.

A light: to help them see in the dark, smoky rooms.

Firefighters wear clothes that protect them when doing their job.
