Generally, the emergency system (usually an alarm) is activated and the building is evacuated as though a real fire had occurred. Usually, the time it takes to evacuate is measured to ensure that it occurs within a reasonable length of time.

Mock Drill-The approach for conducting a mock-drill varies as per the complexity of scenario depending upon the potential hazards, response system of the industry and the target community. Therefore, to ensure proper implementation of a drill programme, roles and responsibilities (SOPs) of the concerned personnel, departments, and mechanisms for conducting the drill should be delineated clearly.
