Clear & cold in forenoon, dark
with snow flurries in
afternoon. Wrote card to Joe,
and sent him the Witness text
he wanted. In afternoon a pipe
in the laundry caused us much
trouble with overflowing water
—had to call up Clinton and he
cam home before dark to fix it
—what a “tower of strength”
the dear boy is to us! The male
quartette met here to-night for
practice we enjoyed the
music. Flossie managed to
write a letter to Miss

16 below zero. And still it
didn’t seem so cold. Carried
some sauce to Miss Bonta,
who came down to school to-
day. Worked at portrait and
life, and we had perspective
afterward. Was late getting
home. Hugh walked up with
me. Met papa in a great
hurry, and he gave no
explanation; but when I
reached home found that the
water pipe in the laundry
Had burst, and Clin had been
summoned home. Papa
misunderstood that Clin had
gone up to the college, and
was trying to catch him. The
quartette practiced here to-
night, and it is very late.
Wrote to Miss Cederburg.
The water meter man came.
