What happens to the bulbs?The farmers in this region grow the flowers only for the bulb production. They sell most of their bulbs to trading companies who packageand sell the bulbs to garden centres and retailers all over the world, where you can buy them to plant in your garden.
Blooming fields, and then…Every year the blooming flower fields are a feast for the eye. Tourists all over the world visit them to experience the breathtaking views and to take beautiful pictures. It is quite the shock when they see the farmer cutting all the flowers off! You would almost think he doesn’tlike tulips.
But the opposite is true. The farmer really loves his crop and takes good care of it. However, a tulip farmer does not grow his plants for the flower but for the bulb under the ground. By cutting the flower at the right time, all the energy goes back down in the bulb so it grows much larger. And a big bulb ensures you will have a strong and beautiful bulb flower in your garden the next spring.
