Over the years music

technology has

evolved so much. Ex-

periments with sound recording

were done in 1870 by T. Edison

and E. Berliner. In 1898 there

were Telegraphone and magnetic

wire recording . There was a lot

of evolution in a ten year time

period.

Music has gone from instrumen-

tal to electronic. Songs are now

made entirely on a computer.

Everything you hear on the radio

is done electronically. Yet some

music artist try to keep their mu-

sic instrumental.

Before we used wire recording

to use it to record a cassette.

Now we just record with a mi-

crophone or some type of de-

vice. We used it to put on a

website like iTunes or Pandora.

Before we would go to Wal-

Mart or some near by store to

buy a cd or cassette .Now we

just hit download on our iPod

and in seconds we would be

playing our favorite songs.

Radio broadcasting began in the

1920s. Everything was live. There

were no recordings for the DJs to

play back. Now radio stations can

play songs over and over non

stop, unlike before.

Now not many bands have real

instruments, their songs are

made by a keyboard that can

play different sounds. Instru-

ments are rarely being used. In

the future, people are not go-

ing to know how to play a gui-

tar, piano, or any other instru-

ments. In the future it would

be a real talent.

The music industry bloomed

when the phonograph was in-

vented by Thomas Edison in

1877. Little did he know, his

great invention started one of

the greatest industries there is.

His device was made for sound

recording, but evolved into mu-

sic making. Composers and sing-

ers started using the phono-

graph non-stop. Instruments

were being used less and less. A

lot of people started paying

attention to this amazing new in-

vention. By the start of the 20th

century., everyone was using the

phonograph to listen to music. In

the 1920’s electrical recording

begun. These changes are what

effected how we make and listen

to music today.
