The ADMS business model is aimed at achieving goodclinical outcomes, but never at the expense of patients’comfort during the treatment process. For this reason, each facility is designed to provide a sense of comfortfor those being treated. “These are amenities that provide tremendous comfortto patients undergoing a complex and lengthy dialysistreatment,” said David Scott, MD, of the SpringfieldDialysis Center. “I have worked in a number of dialysisfacilities, but I have never seen the level of profession-alism and patient care that Atlantic Dialysis provides inall of their facilities.”

The Springfield Dialysis Center in SpringfieldGardens, of which Scott is the main nephrologist andAssociate Medical Director, opened this past Augustand is the newest edition to the ADMS network. Scotthas practiced nephrology in southeastern Queens forthe past 15 years. He was trained in Nephrology at

Columbia University College of Physicians and Sur-geons and Harlem Hospital before starting a Hyper-tension Clinic at Mary Immaculate, eventuallybecoming the Director of Nephrology. For several yearsduring that time, Scott was also the medical director ofa local dialysis facility in Queens.

Scott said he formed a goal several years ago to opena comprehensive diagnostic and treatment center forchronic kidney disease that would research andevaluate new therapies to slow the progression ofkidney disease and provide dialysis services for thosepatients with advanced chronic kidney disease. “Thisvision is now realized with the opening of the Spring-field Dialysis Center,” Scott said. “For the first time wewill have a center in our community that can provide acomprehensive approach to kidney care.”

Scott, who also recently founded Clinical ResearchDevelopment Associates to perform clinical researchwithin groups that are typically under-represented inclinical trials, said that the most unique feature of Spring-field Dialysis Center is that it offers a very comprehensiveapproach to the care of patients with kidney diseases.

“Patients may participate in research that introducesthem to new therapies in the treatment of kidneydisease and it offers excellent, comprehensive dialysisservices for those patients who have progressed,” heexplained. Some of these services include in-centerhemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and homehemodialysis. In addition, Springfield Dialysis Centerhas an experienced full-time nephrologist on thepremises at all times.
