In today's world with trade barriers and quarantine issues, exact identity of a plant pathogen is of utmost importance. Especially, molecular approaches combined with electron and light microscopy can reveal the accurate identity of the pathogen. This has bearing on management issues. Host plant resistance is specially dependent on exact identity of the pathogen. Integration of all available methods, development and refinement of the existing plant disease management strategies is the need of the hour if agricultural production has to remain profitable and sustainable.
Objective of the symposium Diagnosis and management are the core issues in plant pathology. Deliberations in this symposium will help in formulating strategies for better diagnosis and management of plant diseases in an environment friendly and economical way.
Themes (Sessions)Session I : Integrated approaches for disease managementSession II : Host plant resistanceSession III : Plant diseases and climate changeSession IV : Molecular approaches for diagnosis and managementSession V : Plant disease management in organic agricultureSession VI : Emerging plant pathogens: Issues and concernsSession VII : Nanotechnolgy and plant pathologySession VIII : Plant microbe interactionSession IX : Functional genomics for biotic and abiotic stress management
