INT. GREAT HALL/HOGWARTS NIGHT

Underneath the enchanted ceiling on which stars twinkle peacefully,

hundreds of disheveled wizards and witches have gathered. Lining the four

house tables.

All the eyes permanently fixed on MINERVA McGONAGALL, standing at theraised platform, accompanied by many others.

MINERVA McGONAGALL

For over a hundred years, the

headmasters of this school have stood

here, comforting you with words of

encouragement. Tonight, I cannot do

so.

As McGonagall pauses, the Hall goes utterly silent. Shock and concern fill

the faces of many students.

MINERVA McGONAGALL (CONTD)

Tonight, the enemy we have managed to

keep outside this castles walls for

years, will try to force its way in

once again. But let me remind you of

what one of our former headmasters

told us: irrespective of what is out

there, lurking in the night, waiting

for the moment to strike. In the end,

their greatest weapon remains you

remains us.

Ominous thunder sounds the distance, and flashes illuminate the velvety

black ceiling and the unlit candles floating above the tables.

MINERVA McGONAGALL (CONTD)

Therefore we will fight back, to

defend our legacy. Those who are of

age have the permission to stay and

fight. The others will be led outside

the castle, where they can leave by

Apparition or the Floo Network. The

Prefects will organize their houses,

when I give the word, and lead them

to the evacuation point of the

seventh floor.

RAVENCLAW STUDENTAnd what about our belongings? Our

trunks, our owls?

MINVERA McGONAGALL

There is no time to collect

possessions.

SLYTHERIN STUDENT

And wheres Professor Snape?

MINVERA McGONAGALL

Professor Snape has, to use the

common phrase, done a bunk.

CONTINUED:

Cheering erupts among most of the students, but they fall silent when

McGonagall raise her hands stern.

MINERVA McGONAGALL

We have already placed protectionaround the castle, but it is unlikely

to hold for very long unless we

reinforce it. I must ask you,

therefore, to move quickly and clam,

and do as you Prefects

Just then, a foreboding breeze extinguishes all the light within the Great

Hall. LORD VOLDEMORTS VOICE ECHOES throughout the entire castle, magically

magnified:

LORD VOLDEMORT (V.O.)

I know you are preparing to fight.

The frightened faces of the students gloom in the impenetrable darkness,

searching for the unknown source of the sound.


Your efforts are futile. You cannot

fight me. I do not want to kill you.

I have great respect for the teachers

of Hogwarts. I dont want to spill

magical blood. Give me Harry Potter,

and none shall be harmed. Give me

Harry Potter, and I shall leave the

school untouched. Give me Harry

Potter, and you will be rewarded. You

have until midnight.

For seconds everything remains silent and dark. Until, with a flick of her

wand, McGonagall ignites the fireplaces and torches. Refilling the place

with light.

MINERVA McGONAGALL

(obviously worried)

Prefects, organize your houses. We

shall hold them off as long as we

can.

CUT TO:

INT. OUTSIDE GREAT HALL MOMENTS LATER - NIGHT

A PULLULATING MASS of STUDENTS fight their way to the staircase, while

their Prefects try to calm them. Then Harry appears within the crowd,

forcing his way through, towards the towering doors of the Great Hall.

INT. GREAT HALL CONTINUOUS

We TRACK him as he enters the Great Hall, where dozens of wizards and

witches have gathered at the raised platform. Multiple teachers, students

and members of the Order of the Phoenix.

KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT

Weve only got half an hour until

midnight, so we need to act fast. A

battle plan has been agreed between

the teachers of Hogwarts and theOrder of the Phoenix

HARRY POTTER

Mr. Weasley?

ARTHUR WEASLEY immediately turns towards the approaching Harry.

HARRY POTTER

Mr. Weasley, have you seen Ron and

Hermione?

ARTHUR WEASLEY

Havent you found them yet?

Arthur can tell by the look in his eyes.

CUT TO:

INT. CHAMBER OF SECRETS SAME TIME - NIGHT

Two feet hit the rocky ground. The CAMERA EASES UP, to reveal Ron standing

underneath the exit of a tunnel. He helps Hermione, as she climbs out of

the tunnel. Holding the GOLDEN CUP of HUFFLEPUFF. Then they turn towards

what lies ahead:

NEW ANGLE FULL WIDE SHOT

The Chamber of Secrets, haunting yet beautiful, rests within the shadows of

the underground. Ahead stands the ENORMOUS STATUE of SALAZAR SLYTHERIN.

HERMIONE GRANGER

I hope youre right, Ron.

As they walk along to long path, past the rows of STONE SERPENTS, they gaze

around with astonishment. Then they reach something lying several feet in

front of the statue: the HUGE SKELETON of the BASILISK. They approach with

hesitation.

HERMIONE GRANGERYou really think theres still venom

inside those?

RON WEASLEY

If the Sword of Gryffindors still

able to destroy a Horcrux five years

after it pierced through this

fellows head, there must be.

Ron kneels next to the skull, and pulls out one of the beasts fangs. A

small drip of BLACK VENOM drips out of the fang. He hands it over to

Hermione, completely flabbergasted.

CONTINUED:

RON WEASLEY

Well, go on, then. Destroy it.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Me? You want me to do it?

RON WEASLEY

Yes. Harry destroyed the diary,

Dumbledore destroyed the ring, I

destroyed the locket it has to be

you this time.

Hermione blushes, then kneels onto the ground. Raising her hand high, and

PLUNGES THE FANG into the cup with a powerful stroke. Instantly, the gold

turns white-hot and starts to shrink. A SHRIEK, writhing in pain, fills the

Chamber of Secrets.

RON WEASLEY

You did it! Youve destroyed it!

Hermione, youre amazing!

HERMIONE GRANGER

No, Ron. Youre amazing.

She quickly gets back on her feet, and kisses him on the mouth

passionately. The CAMERA CIRCLES around them, until a LOUD BANG sounds in

the distance.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR/HOGWARTS SAME TIME - NIGHT

Harry, wand in hand, runs through the abandoned corridor, through the

squares of moonlight upon the floor. He turns the corner

INT. SEVENTH FLOOR CORRIDOR CONTINUOUS

to reveal COMPLETE MAYHEM at the entrance of the ROOM OF REQUIREMENT. The

remaining students force and fight their ways through the doors.

PREFECT

You all need to remain calm!

Just then, a DEFEANING BANG. The castle shakes to its foundations: thecrystal chandelier jingles and dust comes down from the ceiling. The

students start to scream, and out of the chaos appears ABERFORTH

DUMBLEDORE.

ABERFORTH DUMBLEDORE

Potter! Why the hell are there

hundreds of kids thundering through

my pub?

HARRY POTTER

I know, were evacuating. Voldemort

is attacking because they havent

handed you over, yeah. Im not deaf.

The whole of Hogsmeade heard him.

Again the castle quakes heavily, and screaming and yelling is heard in the

distance.


I wish good luck, Potter. These

people out there, thoroughly rely on

you to end this all tonight.

INT. ROOM OF REQUIREMENT CONTINUOUS

As Harry enters the crowded room, he cranes his neck, looking for Ron and

Hermione. Then he spots GINNY and NYMPHADORA TONKS, both relieved to see

him.

HARRY POTTER

Have you seen Ron and Hermione?

GINNY WEASLEY

No, I havent seen them since they

left the room hours ago.

HARRY POTTER

Tonks, I thought you were supposed to

be with Teddy at your mothers?

NYMPHADORA TONKS

I couldnt stand not knowing. Shell

look after him. Have you seen Remus?

HARRY POTTER

Hes leading troops of fighters into

the grounds.

NYMPHADORA TONKS

Thanks.

Without saying another word, she speeds off.

GINNY WEASLEYHarry, whatre you doing here? I

thought you were looking for

something?

HARRY POTTER

Everyone whos risking their lives

tonight, is doing it for nothing. We

came here to find on old diadem, lost

for centuries, and we dont even know

whether its hidden inside the castle

or not.

Suddenly Ginnys face turns appalled, and quickly she runs towards the last

students who are about to enter the passageway.

GINNY WEASLEY

Youve to leave now! The room must beempty! Seal the passage off from the

inside!

HARRY POTTER

Ginny, whatre you doing?

GINNY WEASLEY

Trust me.

CUT TO:

INT. SEVENTH FLOOR CORRIDOR LATER - NIGHT

Harry and Ginny leave the room quickly, and the towering doors close, merge

with the stone wall as if the entrance had never existed.

HERMIONE GRANGER (O.S.)

Harry! Ginny!

They jump as Ron and Hermione appear in the corridor. Hermione holding the

DESTROYED CUP. BASILISK FANGS sticking out of their pockets.

HARRY POTTER

Where the hell have you been?

RON WEASLEY

The Chamber of Secrets.

HARRY POTTER

The Chamber of what?

HERMIONE GRANGER

It was all Rons idea! Wasnt it

absolutely brilliant? There we were,

after you left, and I said to Ron,

even if we find the other Horcrux,

how are we going to get rid of it? We

still hadnt got rid of the cup! And

then he thought of it! The Basilisk!

HARRY POTTER

But did you get in there? The only

people who have access to the Chamber

of Secrets are descendents of Salazar

Slytherin himself, you have to speak

Parseltongue!

HERMIONE GRANGER

He did!

RON WEASLEY

I made the same hissing noise you

made to open the locket.

HERMIONE GRANGER

He was amazing! Amazing!

RON WEASLEY

Hermione stabbed it. She hasnt hadthe pleasure yet. So whats new with

you, Harry?

HARRY POTTER

I know where the diadem is. Voldemort

hid it exactly where Ginny and I hid

my old potion book last year where

Malfoy hid the Vanishing Cabinet

where everyones been hiding stuff

for centuries. He thought he was the

only one to find it.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Of course, the Room of Hidden Things!

GINNY WEASLEY

I remember seeing on old crown when I

hid Harrys book.

RON WEASLEY

You guys better be right.

CUT TO:

INT. ROOM OF REQUIREMENT MOMENTS LATER - NIGHT

The CAMERA MOVES THROUGH dozens of TOWERING SHELVES and PILES. All kinds of

clicking and rattling noises come from every corner of the room. Suddenly

Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione appear from behind some broken furniture.

HERMIONE GRANGER

I think its better if we split up.

Harry and Ginny walk into the left aisle of the enormous LABYRINTH of JUNK,

leaving Ron and Hermione behind as they take the left one. Then, suddenly,

Harry comes to a standstill in front of an OLD BLACK CABINET. Gazes at it

with abomination, but rapidly turns around when he seems to hear something.

FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING. Harry drags Ginny quickly behind the cabinet.

HARRY POTTERPromise me you stay here. No matter

what happens.

The FOOTSTEPS DRAW CLOSER. Ginny does not seem to agree, but then she

catches his blazing eyes.

GREGORY GOYLE and BLAISE ZABINI walk out of one of the aisles, their wands

at the ready, obviously looking for something or someone. Then Harry steps

from behind the cabinet, his wand pointed at their chests.

HARRY POTTER

Hold it!

CONTINUED:

DRACO MALFOY (O.S.)

Three against one?

Harry turns around and finds Malfoy standing right behind him, his wand

pointed at Harrys back with a hateful grin on his face.

DRACO MALFOY

Thats my wand your holding, Potter.

HARRY POTTER

Not anymore. Winners, keepers,

Malfoy. So how come you cowards

havent fled with the others?

BLAISE ZABINI

After weve handed you over to the

Dark Lord himself, were gonna be

rewarded.

HARRY POTTER

So how did you get in here?

DRACO MALFOY

I virtually lived in the Room of

Hidden Things all last year. I know

how to get in.

HARRY POTTER

Oh, yeah I forgot. You succeeded in

getting the Death Eaters inside the

castle because of this room.

DRACO MALFOY

The night our beloved headmaster fell

of the Astronomy Tower.

HARRY POTTER

The night you failed to kill an old,

weak and unarmed man.

The sneering grin on Malfoys face disappears. But then a THUNDERING SOUND

is heard from behind: an entire wall junk collapses onto Goyle and Zabini,

to reveal Ron and Hermione standing behind it.

When Malfoy turns around, Harry quickly disarms him. Ginny steps frombehind the cabinet, her arm pointed at something unknown.

GINNY WEASLEY

Harry, the diadem!

A PORCELAIN BUST of a WOMAN, standing atop of an dusty wardrobe, wears an

ANCIENT SILVER DIADEM. Harry does not hesitate, and rushes towards the

wardrobe. He climbs onto an unstable pile of books, and grabs the diadem

from the bust.

Ginny joins Harry and together they speed off into an aisle. The

innumerable amount of objects flashing past. As they reach the main aisle,

they run straight into Ron and Hermione.

CONTINUED:

HERMIONE GRANGER

Where did they go?

HARRY POTTER

I dont know, but I think

Harry pauses and pricks his ears. A ROARING NOISE DRAWS CLOSER every

second. Suddenly, a FLASH FIRE appears at the end of the aisle. Huge flames

rushing towards them.

HARRY POTTER

Go go! GO!

They rush through the maze, turning one corner after the other. The

billowing flames catching up with them rapidly. The flames seems to form

the shapes of SERPENTS, CHIMAERAS and DRAGONS.

GREGORY GOYLE (O.S.)

Like it hot, scum?

They keep running, pursued by FLAMING FANGED and CLAWDED CREATURES. As they

turn another corner, the fire seems to have ended the pursued. The four of

them come to a standstill. But then the FIENDFYRE soars over their heads,

and comes down around them. Circling around them. The heat visible. Every

sound drowned by the soaring flames.

Harry seizes three BROOMSTICKS lying beneath the feet. Saves it from the

destructing fire, and throws one to Ron and Hermione and gives one to

Ginny. He swings his leg over his own broom, and with hard kicks on the

ground, they soar up in the air: Harry and Ginny maneuvering through the

BURNING PILES of JUNK that reach the ceiling, and Hermione clutching Ron as

he follows them.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Weve to get out! Now!

The CAMERA EASES DOWN, to reveal three people cornered by the flames.

Screaming. Coughing. Waving their hands through the air for help.

RON WEASLEY

Harry, dont you even think of

Harry makes a steep descent towards them, flying through the raging

firestorm. Floats in mid-air, holding out his hand to Malfoy, who pulls

himself onto the broomstick as with a loud tremble a burning pile ofjunk comes down on the place where he had been standing.

Ginny helps Zabini on her broom. The guy seems to be in a catatonic state

and as soon as he takes place behind Ginny, he grabs her tight.

Malfoy holds out his hand to grab Goyle, but then we see a ROARING FLAMING

CHIMAERA flying towards them. Its fanged mouth opened. Ready to consume

them.

DRACO MALFOY

Goyle, grab my hand!

CONTINUED:

Unable to get hold of his hand, Malfoy witnesses the flames coming closer

and closer. Then Harry and Ginny speed off, leaving Goyle behind in the

firestorm.

DRACO MALFOYGoyle! Goyle!

Harry and Ginny join Ron and together they fly towards the double doors at

the end of the room, at full speed. But when Harry leans over to avoid the

swirling flames, the diadem slips between his fingers.

ANOTHER ANGLE RON AND GINNYS POV

Ron and Ginny have almost reached the exit, when they suddenly stop in the

middle of the air. Searching for Harry who has vanished in thin air.

GINNY WEASLEY

Wheres Harry?

Just then, he bursts out of the fire. Harry holding the diadem, and Malfoy

holding Harrys waist. They speed to the exit

INT. SEVENTH FLOOR CORRIDOR CONTINUOUS

and collide with the wall facing the entrance. They get up their feet,

gasping for breath and coughing. Their faces covered in soot. Zabini

remains catatonic: rocking back and forth.

DRACO MALFOY

Goyle Goyle

RON WEASLEY

Hes dead.

Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny get up their feet. Harry gazes at the

entrance that has submerged with the stone wall once again. Sealing off the

inferno inside. Then Harry grabs the diadem, that is now leaking a BLACK

BLOOD-LIKE SUBSTANCE.

RON WEASLEY

Is it destroyed?

HERMIONE GRANGERIt must have been Fiendfyre!

HARRY POTTER

Fiendfyre?

HERMIONE GRANGER

Cursed fire, its one of the darkest

arts imaginable. Its one of the

substances that destroy Horcruxes. I

would never, ever have dared use it,

its so dangerous.

RON WEASLEY

How did they know who to

HERMIONE GRANGER

Mustve learned it from the Carrows.

They are interrupted by another huge bang that sounds in the distance,

along with screaming, causing the entire castle to quake. Harry draws his

wand.

HARRY POTTER

Weve got to help them.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Harry, no! Dont you get it? With

this one finished, theres just one

Horcrux left. We just have to get to

the snake

HARRY POTTER

Which will be impossible to get our

hands on, because he knows Im after

it.

Harry turns away from them, and turns towards the end of the corridor,

where the SOUNDS of BATTLING become louder and louder. He turns a corner

INT. CORRIDOR/HOGWARTS CONTINUOUS

and finds something which makes his face turn deadly pale. An enormous

hole in the side of the castle. The others appear right behind him, and

together they walk towards the edge of the hole, looking down in shock.

The CAMERA PANS OUT, to reveal the size of the hole to cover at least five

floors of the massive castle glittering in the moonlight.

CUT TO:

EXT. ENTRANCE COURTYARD SAME TIME - NIGHT

KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT, REMUS LUPIN and many others battle DEATH EATERS,

masked and unmasked. Producing shield charms. Firing curses. Avoiding them.

Kingsley looks up towards the velvety black sky, and tracks PLUMES OF BLACK

SMOKE billowing towards the ground.

One by one the plumes hit the ground, coalesce into multiple Death Eaters,

all in motion, wands blazing. Then BELLATRIX LESTRANGE materializes. She

grins.

CUT TO:

EXT. TRANSFIGURATION COURTYARD SAME TIME - NIGHT

DEAN THOMAS, FRED WEASLEY and PERCY WEASLEY are standing in the middle of

the battlefield. They strip Death Eaters from their wands and hit them in

the chests with SILVER FLASHES.

CONTINUED:

Two Death Eaters ROCKED UPWARDS, transforming into BLACK PLUMES. They

immediately reconstitute as they land right behind Dean, but are thrown

backwards by perfectly aimed spells of Fred and Percy.

CUT TO:

EXT. STONE CIRCLE SAME TIME - NIGHT

BILL and ARTHUR WEASLEY fight back to back, surrounded by tens of DEATH

EATERS. Bill swishes his wand, causes a Death Eater to be blown off his

feet. Others are thrown out of sight, as they are hit by JETS of SILVER

LIGHT.

CUT TO:

EXT. HOGWARTS GATES SAME TIME - NIGHT

A STONE WINGED BOAR, standing atop of a column flanking the gateway,

explodes when hit by a GREEN CURSE. The CAMERA PANS OUT to reveal the front

line of the battle.

SIMULTANEOUS ACTION

ABERFORTH DUMBLEDORE fires three separate Stunning Spells at once, hitting

two duelling Death Eaters in the back.

OLIVER WOOD produces a shield charm, that splinters an incoming spell. He

avoids another one, and while kneeling, he fires a JET of GREEN LIGHT that

hits a masked and hooded Death Eater squarely in the chest.

NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM and SEAMUS FINNIGAN light up as they fire an continuous

arsenal of spells and curses. The CAMERA CIRCLING around them.

Then the CAMERA CRANES UP, towards the castle in the background. Slowly we

rush towards the enormous hole in the side of the castle fly over the

school grounds where hundreds of people fight faster and faster

INT. CORRIDOR/HOGWARTS CONTINUOUS

until we reach Harry, Ginny, Hermione and Ron standing at the edge. Their

faces filled with horror and disbelief as they overlook the battle.

HARRY POTTER(breathing the words)

Weve got to help them

HERMIONE GRANGER

Harry, we cant do anything. Dont

you understand? Were the only ones

who can end this tonight. Youre the

only one who can all this. But weve

to focus on whats important. If we

can just get the snake

Just then, Harrys presses his hand against his LIGHTNING-BOLD SCAR.

CONTINUED:

HARRY POTTER

(clenching his jaws)

I can feel him, hes here.

HERMIONE GRANGERDo it, Harry. Look inside him!

With a scream, we PUSH INTO HIS EMERALD EYE

CUT TO:

EXT. ASTRONOMY TOWER NIGHT

to reveal LORD VOLDEMORT standing in the middle of the platform. Looking

down on LUCIUS MALFOY, ragged and beaten up, sitting in the darkest corner.

LUCIUS MALFOY

My Lord. My Lord, please my son.

The SOUNDS of ASSAULT distant and muffled, but light flashes still visible

in the night.

LORD VOLDEMORT

If your son is Dead, Lucius, it is

not my fault. He did not come and

join me. Perhaps he decided to

befriend Harry Potter?

LUCIUS MALFOY

No never. He would never join him.

LORD VOLDEMORT

You must hope not.

LUCIUS MALFOY

My Lord, arent you afraid that

Potter might die at another hand but

yours? Wouldnt it be, forgive me,

more prudent to call off this battle,

enter the castle and seek the boy

yourself?

LORD VOLDEMORT

Do not pretend, Lucius. You wish the

battle to cease so that you candiscover what has happened to your

son.

LORD VOLDEMORT

And I do not fear the Potter might

die by another hand, nor will I seek

him myself. Before the night is out,

Potter will have come to find me.

Voldemort extends his hand, studying the ELDER WAND delicately. Twirling it

between his long skeletal fingers.

LORD VOLDEMORT

I want you to go and fetch Snape.

LUCIUS MALFOY

Snape, my Lord?

LORD VOLDEMORT

Snape. Now. I need him. There is a

service I require from him. Go.

Malfoy disappears as he trots off the spiraling staircase. Voldemort turns

towards the floor, to reveal an ENORMOUS SNAKE gliding towards him. Then he

waves the Elder Wand, and the snake is caught in an enchanted, transparent

sphere. Suspending the mid-air.

LORD VOLDEMORT

It is the only way, Nagini.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR/HOGWARTS NIGHT

With a GASP, we PULL OUT OF HARRYS EYE. The others standing around him,

watching and waiting anxiously.

HARRY POTTER

Hes at the Astronomy Tower. The

snakes with him, in some sort of

magical protection. Hes just sent

Lucius Malfoy to find Snape. He said

that he needed Snape for some kind of

service.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Voldemorts sitting at the Astronomy

Tower? Hes not even fighting?

RON WEASLEY

Hes probably having a nice view from

up there. Arrogant coward.

HARRY POTTER

He doesnt think he needs to fight.

He thinks Im going to go to him.

GINNY WEASLEY

Which you wont do, right?

HARRY POTTER

I have to. Hes keeping his snake

close beside him, obviously Im going

to have to go to him to get near the

thing.

GINNY WEASLEY

Why are you after his snake? And why

were you after that crown in the

first place?

HARRY POTTER

Theres no time to explain, Ginny.

And youve to get yourself to safety.

GINNY WEASLEYI wont stay here while my family and

friends are out there fighting.

RON WEASLEY

You cant come with us, Ginny.

HARRY POTTER

Rons right. Its too dangerous.

GINNY WEASLEY

But I want to fight. I want to help.

You know I can help them.

HARRY POTTER

Yes, but I dont want to lose you. I

dont want you to end the same way as

Sirius and my parents.

GINNY WEASLEY

I promise you wont lose me.

HARRY POTTER

All right, then. Come on. Stay close

to me.

CUT TO:

INT. STAIRCASE/HOGWARTS NIGHT

Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione run down the spiraling staircase. Their

illuminated wands lighten up their blooded and dirty faces.


The unmistakable NOISES of DUELLING draw closer, as they storm into the

abandoned corridor. Harry looks around and his heart seems to fail: Death

Eaters had penetrates the castle.

PERCY and FRED are fighting Death Eaters, and seem cornered by their sevenmasked and hooded opponents. Missed curses have destroyed the entire

corridor: portraits destroyed, windows shattered and pieces of wall blown

apart.

GINNY WEASLEY

Fred! Percy!

As the both of them turn towards Ginny, standing at the other side of the

corridor, an ENORMOUS EXPLOSION. ALL-CONSUMING.

The BLAST HURLS Harry backward. Rubble and dust are thrown across the

corridor. Every SOUNDS IS DROWNED by the explosion, except for the high

beeping tone disturbing Harrys hearing.

CONTINUED:

The DUST CLEARS, and they get back up their feet. Harry finds Percy, lying

next to the place where he and Fred had been standing. Now collapsed and

completely buried under wreckage.

MONTAGE BEGINS SLOW MOTION

Harry overlooks the damage in shock and disbelief. Tears have filled his

eyes, realizing that people are dying.

CUT TO:

EXT. ENTRANCE COURTYARD SAME TIME - NIGHT

TONKS bursts out of the castle, wand in hand. Finds REMUS at the centre of

the battlefield, one of the last fighters remaining.

NYMPHADORA TONKS

Remus!

Remus turns around, and his eyes widen as his finds his wife. In that

moment of distraction, we see his face lighten up by an incoming JET of

GREEN LIGHT. Every sound fades. Complete silence when Remus is hit squarely

in the chest, and is thrown backwards.

We TRACK TONKS as she runs across the battlefield. Soundless screaming and

crying, as she pushes her way through the chaos. Drops to her knees, next

to the motionless body of Remus. His eyes wide open. She places her hands

on his chest, not realizing that an unknown person who materialized in

front of her.

BELLATRIX walks into the frame. Looking down on Tonks, who looks up

devastated and heart-broken. Before she is even able to grab her wand,

Bellatrix raised her own high in the air.

ANOTHER ANGLE

The motionless hand of Tonks hits the stones, still holding her wand

loosely.

CUT TO:

EXT. QUIDDITCH PITCH NIGHT

The enormous wooden structure is burning. The decorations and house banners

have already been incinerated.

CUT TO:

EXT. HAGRIDS HUT NIGHT

High flames consume the small building. Then the entire roof collapses,

sending hot coals into all directions, like hundred tiny fireflies.

Ginny is sitting next to George, partially buried underneath debris.

Screams and cries. Percy lays his hands upon her heaving shoulders, tinged

with sadness, accompanied by Ron who stares in disbelief and dejection.

MONTAGE ENDS

Harry is still standing there. The VOICE OF HERMIONE sounds is the

distance, along with the faded sounds of battling:

HERMIONE GRANGER

Harry, weve got to go!

Then Harry is pulled back into reality. Hermione jolts him, as she repeats

the same sentence over and over again:

HERMIONE GRANGER

Weve got to go! Weve got to go!

She grabs his arms as they stagger over stone and wood, towards the

grieving people who have gathered around George.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Ron, we have to go! Theres nothing

we can do for him!

RON WEASLEY

(crying)

No no no

HERMIONE GRANGER

Ron, were the only ones who can end

it! Please, we need the snake, weve

got to kill the snake!

Tears stream over her face, as Hermione tries to calm Ron. She wipes her

face, covered in soot, dirt and blood, with her torn sleeve. In the

background, more SOUNDS of BATTLING DRAW CLOSER.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Come on, Ron, please. More people are

dying right now, and were the only

ones who can end that!

Not struggling, but not acceding either, Ron is dragged away by Hermione.Leaving the screaming and crying Ginny and Percy behind.

CUT TO:

EXT. TRANSFIGURATION COURTYARD MOMENTS LATER NIGHT

They burst out of the castle, finding a true battlefield: debris of the

destroyed castle lies everywhere, along with numerous dead bodies. The

spells and curses light up the entire courtyard, as we hear screaming and

explosions.

FILIUS FLITWICKS and McGONAGALL both duel two Death Eaters at once.

Flitwick sends an multicolored BARRAGE of FLAMES towards his opponents,

while McGonagall awakens tens of gargoyles lining the courtyard.

MINERVA McGONAGALLCharge!

Harry, Ron and Hermione start running towards the foot of the enormous

Astronomy Tower. Avoiding overflying spells, blocking them and sending

curses towards the duelling Death Eaters.

Then they spot DRACO, sitting on his knees, pleading with another Death

Eater who is about to finish him.

DRACO MALFOY

Im Draco Malfoy! Im on your side!

Harry stuns the Death Eater, and as Draco looks around, trying to find his

unknown savior, Ron punches him in the face brutally.

RON WEASLEY

And thats the second time weve

saved your live tonight, you two-

faced bastard!

Then they reach the small door at the foot of the Astronomy Tower.

CUT TO:

EXT. ASTRONOMY TOWER NIGHT

Harry, Ron and Hermione climb the exterior spiraling staircase. As they

come near the topmost level, voices are heard:

SEVERUS SNAPE (O.S.)

My Lord, their resistance is

crumbling

LORD VOLDEMORT (O.S.)

And it is doing with your help.

They peer upwards through the wooden grid-like floor to the topmost level:

LORD VOLDEMORT stands at the railings, overseeing the battle below. SEVERUS

SNAPE stands right behind him, staring nervously at his back.

The CAMERA EASES DOWN, to reveal Harry, Ron and Hermione standing below

floors. Gazing up through the latticework.

SEVERUS SNAPE

Let me find the boy. Let me bring you

Potter.

Voldemort turns around and his eyes turn into slits. Although the tower

goes ominously silent, the battle is heard in the distance.

LORD VOLDEMORT

Severus, there is a complication.

My Lord?

LORD VOLDEMORT

Why doesnt this wand work for me?

Voldemort raises the ELDER WAND in the air delicately. As the CAMERA

FOCUSES on Snape, we see anxiety in his eyes. Like he senses danger.

SEVERUS SNAPE

My Lord, I do not understand. You

you have performed extraordinary

magic with that wand.

LORD VOLDEMORT

No. I have performed my usual magic.

But this wand has not revealed the

wonders it has promised. I feel no

difference between this wand and the

one I procured from Ollivander all

those years ago. No difference.

NEW ANGLE WIDE FRONT SHOT

Voldemort turns back to the sky, and places his fingers around the

railings. Overseeing the battle below.

LORD VOLDEMORT

I have thought long and hard, and I

have decided to take care of this

complication. If I do not, it will

remain unknown what will happen when

I finally meet the boy.

SEVERUS SNAPE

My Lord, there is no doubt what will

happen.

LORD VOLDEMORT

There is. I have always wondered why

both wands I have used failed when

directed at Harry Potter. I have

always wondered why I, the greatestsorcerer in the world, was no match

for an untalented young wizard.

Ollivander told me under torture of

the twin cores, told me to take

anothers wand. I did so, but

Luciuss wand shattered upon meeting

Potters. So I sought the third wand.

The Elder Wand, the Wand of Destiny,

the Deathstick. I took it from its

previous master. I took it from the

tomb of Albus Dumbledore.

Snape is nailed to the ground, his deadly pale face glooms in the

moonlight.

SEVERUS SNAPE

My Lord, let me find the boy

LORD VOLDEMORT

All this long night, when I am on the

brink of victory, I have stood here,

wondering why the Elder Wand refuses

to be what it ought to be, refuses to

perform as legend says it must

perform for the rightful owner. And I

think I have found the answer.

Then Voldemort turns around and his eyes pierce Snape. Even NAGINI, in her

protective sphere, seems to call attention to the conversation.

LORD VOLDEMORT

Perhaps you already know it? You are

a clever man, after all, Severus. You

have been a good and valuable

servant, and I regret what must

happen.

Snape quickly draws his wand, out of protest, knowing what is about to

happen, but is disarmed as Voldemort flicks the Elder Wand. As the Dark

Lord approaches, Snape trips and backs off.

Voldemort swipes his wand through the air, once again. The transparent

sphere in which she is trapped, evaporates, and Nagini drops onto the

floor. She glides towards Snape.

LORD VOLDEMORT

The Elder Wand cannot serve me

properly because I am not its true

master. The Elder Wand belongs to the

wizard who killed its last owner. You

killed Albus Dumbledore. While you

are not killed by my hand, the Elder

Wand cannot be truly be mine.

SEVERU SNAPE

My Lord!

LORD VOLDEMORT

Kill.

On command, Nagini strikes. Rushing for his neck with her huge beak opened.

As her fangs pierce his neck, BLOOD SPURTS OUT and Snape falls on the

floor.

The creature slithers back to her master, and drapes herself around his

shoulders.

LORD VOLDEMORT

I regret it

Then Voldemort turns away from Snape, and sets off in the night as an

enormous bat. Disappears in the IMPENETRABLE DARKNESS.

NEW ANGLE HARRYS POV

Harry, Ron and Hermione, almost unrecognizable in the darkness, peer

upwards as the BLOOD LEAKS through the latticework. Hermione witnesses the

shiny pool of blood at her feet, growing bigger.

Then Harry turns away from them, and scrambles up the stairs. With

hesitation he approaches the heaving body of Snape that is soaked in blood.

RASPING, GURGLING NOISES issue from his throat, as he tries to stop the

bleeding with his hand.

SEVERUS SNAPE

Closer

Harry does as he says, and kneels next to the dying body. Snape grabs

Harrys wrist, and brings Harrys wand to his own temple. As he closes his

eyes, he withdraws a LONG, SILVERY THREAD.

SEVERUS SNAPE

Take it

Harry grabs the thread with his fingers and puts it in his inner pocket.

And then the unthinkable happens: Snape pulls Harry back towards his face,

his eyes WIDENED.

SEVERUS SNAPE

Look at me Look at me

A SHOT of HARRYS EMERALD-GREEN EYES behind his broken glasses, then Snape

weakens and his head falls sideward on the floor. Dead.

HERMIONE GRANGER

Harry, come on. Weve to go.

Harry jumps back on his feet with his wand drawn, when suddenly the

magically enhanced voice a Voldemort thunders through the castle and its

grounds:


You have fought valiantly. Lord

Voldemort knows how to value bravery.

Yet you have sustained heavy losses.

If you continue to resist me, you

will all die, one by one. I do not

wish this to happen. Every drop of

magical blood spilled is a loss and a

waste. I command my forces to

retreat, immediately. You have one

hour. Dispose of your dead with

dignity.

Treat your injured. I speak now,

Harry Potter, directly to you. You

have permitted your friends to die

for you rather than face me yourself.I shall wait for one hour in the

Forbidden Forest. If, at the end of

Ron and Hermione shake their heads frantically, when Harry looks at them

frightened.

get back to the others.

Ill catch up with you. First I want

to see something.

Harry glances at Snapes body one more time.

CUT TO:

INT. HEADMASTERS OFFICE NIGHT

Harry steps out of the Gargoyles embrace and enters the large, circular

room. He comes to a standstill, and simple stands staring through the

office. His eyes rise high upon the walls, where dozens of EMPTY PORTAITS

hang. Then finds the PENSIEVE on the great desk opposite.

Harry withdraws the LONG SILVER THREAD, and releases it into the luminous

substance as if it is molten glass. As the contents start to swirl within

the Pensieve, Harry bends over and leans into the iridescent liquid
