About the Community

• Geographical Location: Situated road side to the Jaipur – Delhi Highway, Labana a village backward in many respects. Labana is itself a Gram Panchayat, Block Amer, District Jaipur. The majority of population is of SC and ST. There is a small market in Labana just side of the highway

• Cultural Background: This village is in two parts one for upper caste and one for the Sweeper’s. They do not go to each other’s home and believes in separation.

• Role of Satya Bharti School in the Village: Satya Bharti School Labana worked like a catalyst to change the rotten culture of the village. We mixed with the community, there was many challenges but we faced it. As a result we have 116 students from the very backward community and it is our achievement. Through our other community development campaigns on Saturdays, we paid efforts to change the belief system of the people and encouraged to make them think for their children.

• Participation in ‘Design for Giving’ School Contest: When the students came to know about they are going to conduct such a campaign with a vision of spreading the awareness . Our students makes realize to the community members that EOM – Every One Matters, so we have to make an equal platform for each person of our society.

Page 4: Dfc labana,

Many times we saw the behavior of some upper caste person was not good for the people of sweeper community. They didn’t allow them to sit/ play/share water pots etc.

Most of the parents don’t want to send their child in the school because they believes that general teacher will not work hard for them/will not allow them in the school.

The children must do the same parental work in future so there is no benefit to send the student in the school with the generals. The children of this community earns some money for their daily expenses and if they will go in the school then it will make a economic & social problem at their homes.

We ‘Felt’:

Page 5: Dfc labana,

If we want to make a change then it is compulsory to get the students in the school.

We will march village community with “GANDHI RALLY” and put our massage in the front of villagers.

We will go to their homes and meet them to make an understanding on our aim.

We will try to convince all the people of our village to support us. If they reject us then we will go for “MOUN UPWAS” till the success.

We ‘Imagined’:

Page 6: Dfc labana,

We organize a rally to the community.

We meet the parents to convince them.

We try to tell tem the importance of our aim.

We went on “Moun upwas”.

We ‘Did’:

Page 7: Dfc labana,

At the beginning of our meeting the people were getting angry with us and our teachers , they were saying that Ye to pahle se chala aa raha hai ise koi nahi badal sakta.

When we convince them they were ready to listen our thought and send their children to the school.

The people of general community promised us to support and put our thought/plan in front of the elders of the villagers.

We got two admissions on the spot and peoples were so happy.

Impact on Community:

Page 8: Dfc labana,

• Students are now more motivated now.• Encouraged to take initiatives.• Can plan and implement.• Ignited the feeling of ownership among

the students• There is now more association and

bonding among students/villagers.• Students were feel more empowered in

the process of execution and implementation and wined the more faith of the people.

• Teachers got appreciation and positive responses from the community, which added jewel to their rapport and identification as a social activist for a social change.

• Neelam Sharma – We are very happy to do this thing.all the

children should go to school and we want to do more work for our village.

• Amit Sharma (HT) & Staff – A very good thought now turned into reality, we did it, is our success half success and we will try to make other changes in future which are spoiling our hearts. Really our little champs prove themselves. We will be very thankful to our students & the community members.

Page 10: Dfc labana,

members about the other/same problem.
