Thurs: Investigation• Read 1 Peter 4.12-5.5 once.

• Write some notes answering the questions:

4.12-19: Make a list with two columns. In the

first, write down the new things in this passage

you haven’t read before. In the second, write

down the related things that you have read before

with verse references. Ponder both columns.

4.12-19: By this point, we ought to be able to

articulate some measure of 1 Peter’s message

about why, how, and what we as Christians suffer.

Try your hand at writing it down in a sentence or

two. There will be a time in class to share.

• Pray that you and we at Zion would abandon

the ways of the nations to live sufferingly for

the will of God for the redemption of others.

Fri: More Investigation• Read 1 Peter 4.12-5.5 once.

• Finish Thursday, if you ran out of time. It was long.

• Write some notes answering the question:

5.1-5: Why does 1 Peter single out these two

groups and why at this point? Are these “test

cases” like some of the passages earlier or is

something else in play here?

• Pray for our elders, that they would shepherd us

well in suffering toward salvation. Pray for the

younger men, that their character would develop

so that they would be worthy elders later.

Sat: Proclamation• Read 1 Peter 4.12-5.5 once.

• Sum up your devotional week by writing a

sentence or two about this passage’s message, as

though you were explaining it to someone.

• Pray through the passage, asking for the Holy

Spirit’s help in where and how to obey it.
