Vice-chancellor’s Message

Dear Aspirants,

We welcome you to one of the highly respected places of learning, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), accredited with “A” grade by NAAC. For more than fifty years, the University has been providing an avenue for unleashing your potential to realize your dreams. This university has emerged as a premier institution of higher learning in Central India by creating, advancing and disseminating knowledge. It is well known for its diversified programme structure, multidisciplinary research and value based education, thereby contributing towards educational, economic and social development of humanity at large. We provide excellent learning environment for pursuing various professional programmes in the university.

Academic excellence is the highest priority in this University. The University Teaching Departments offer undergraduate, post-graduate and research programmes in sixteen faculties. It is amongst the first few Universities in the country to introduce innovative and integrated programmes in the areas of science, engineering, technology, management, law, commerce and media. 1. General rules of admission in various programmes 1.1. The candidate is advised to apply for admission only if he/she fulfills the eligibility

requirements. The onus of checking appropriate eligibility lies with the candidate. 1.2. Applicants are required to submit hard copy of application form along with required documents

to concerned Department/Schools/Institute/Centre (Postal addresses are given in Table 1) However, On-line [www. mponline.gov.in] application form is to be submitted for following programmes : B.C.A./B.C.A.(Hons.), P.G.D.C.A., M.Sc.(Computer Science/Information Technology) and M.B.A. (Computer Management/Rural Development/Public Administration & Policy), Certificate course (Labor Law and Personnel Management/ Consumer psychology and advertising/ Guidance and Counseling/ Human Rights), Diploma (Consumer psychology and advertising), PG Diploma ( Labor Law and Personnel Management / Guidance and Counseling/ Human Rights), B.S.W., M.S.W., M.A. (Sociology/Political Science/ Clinical Psychology).

1.3. Following Department/Schools/Institute/Centre shall have admission through Entrance test/

1.4. If applicants wish to be considered for more than one programme, then they must apply in separate application form for each programme.

1.5. The name of the candidate must be the same as given in the mark sheet of the qualifying examination of the Board/University. Competent authorities should certify the discrepancies in the names of various mark sheets, if any.

1.6. Candidate is advised to mark/write correctly his/her category and required to enclose certificate to claim the benefit. Change of category shall not be accepted thereafter.

1.7. Candidate is required to report at the given date and time at the test centre by concerned Department/Schools/Institute/Centre.

1.8. The candidates who fail to indicate the appropriate reservation category in the respective column of the application form will not have any claim for the reservation later on.

1.9. Non-appearance in the Entrance test/ Merit followed by counseling, for whatsoever reason, will automatically disqualify the candidate for admission.

1.10. The information provided by the applicant in the application form will be verified at the time of counseling / admission from the original documents by the authorities of University. If it is found that a successful applicant has provided incorrect/ false information or has withheld some relevant information at the time of filling up the application form, the applicant shall be debarred from admission. Applicant’s admission shall be treated as cancelled without giving any prior notice.

3. Age Limit 3.1. As per the directives of Government of Madhya Pradesh, There is no upper age limit for

admission to various programmes. Guidelines and rules for admission framed by Government of Madhya Pradesh regarding age limit will be opted in toto from the issue of the date.

1.11. In case any Board of examination/ University / Institute do not show percentage of marks in the mark sheet, a certificate from the competent authority of the Board/ University / Institute must be produced stating equivalent percentage of marks as well as conversion formula used, along with the mark sheet at the time of admission.

1.12. The decision of the University Authority shall be final and binding in the matter relating to admission. As per the directives of statutory bodies/ Government of Madhya Pradesh if any rules are modified and the same shall be binding on the applicants admission.

1.13. Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, will use all reasonable endeavors to deliver courses, duration and other services in accordance with the descriptions set out in these guidelines. The University reserves the right to rename any programme degree, make variations in the contents and methods of delivery of courses and other services, to discontinue course and other service and to merge or combine courses, if such action is reasonably considered to be necessary.

1.14. Students from other University after getting admission are required to enroll themselves as per University rules.

1.15. The admission to various programmes will be strictly as per the Government of Madhya Pradesh reservation policy.

1.16. Any legal dispute regarding Admission-2018 will be subject to Indore jurisdiction. 1.17. No written communication will be provided. Applicants are advised to see the

university website. 1.18 University reserves the right to modify / alter any information provided in

advertisement and information brochure at any stage.

2. Eligibility for Admission 2.1. Minimum percentage and number of seats for admission to programmes being offered by

the University is mentioned in the Table 2. Fee structure is described in Table 3. A relaxation of 5% in the eligibility criteria shall be admissible to the bonafide Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) applicants of Madhya Pradesh only. A relaxation of 5% in eligibility will also be applicable to Persons With Disability (Divyang) as defined by Government of Madhya Pradesh.

2.2. The candidates awaiting their results of qualifying examination can also apply for admission but the candidate has to submit the final mark sheet of qualifying examination by 08th August 2018 or the date as notified by Government of Madhya Pradesh.

2.3. Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from Universities other than Devi Ahilya University are required to submit Eligibility Certificate issued by the Devi Ahilya University, Indore after the admission.

2.4. Admission will be given only in first semester / first year of the course except in case of lateral entry in B.Pharm.

4. Non-eligibility for admission 4.1. An applicant convicted by the court of law in India or outside or one against whom

cases are being tried in the court/s or challan has been presented or has verifiable allegations against him/her concerning misbehavior/beating of students/officers/employees or a person against whom disciplinary action has been taken by Devi Ahilya University or any other University shall not be eligible for admission.

4.2. A full time government employee/non-government employee cannot take admission in courses run during working hours. However, they can take admission in courses run after regular working hours. For the same they will have to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

5. Reservation Policy and Conversion of Seats 5.1. Reservation as per the directives of Government of Madhya Pradesh from time to time. 5.2. The benefit of reservation will be available, only to the domiciles of Madhya Pradesh.

Of the total seats, 16 percent and 20 percent seats in courses will be reserved for applicants belonging to SC and ST, respectively. Seats of both these categories are inter-changeable.

5.3. Of the total seats in a programme, 14 percent seats will be reserved for applicants form OBC category (except who are in creamy layer).

5.4. Reservation for Person with disability (Divyang): One seat on over and above basis in each programme will be reserved for the Person with disability (Divyang). Candidates claiming admission against these seats shall be required to produce Disability Certificate from the concerned District Medical Board.

5.5. A horizontal reservation of 30 percent of the total seats will be for female applicants. 5.6. DAVV employee ward quota: Admission for wards of the University employees will be

made as per the notification issued by the University. These admissions will be “over and above” with respect to total number of seats available in the concerned programme. (DAVV employee ward here would mean husband, wife, son and daughter of the Teacher/Officer/ Employee. In this respect a certificate from the Registrar, Devi Ahilya University, Indore /Competent authority of the University shall be required at the time of admission). Note: These seats are interchangeable, and can be converted to other category (Teacher/Officer to Employee or vice -versa) if they remain vacant.

5.7. If less than half seat falls under reservation, then the seat will not be available: in case the proportion of seat is between half and one, it will be treated as one.

5.8. If reserved seats remain vacant on the day of counseling, the seat will be converted to unreserved category on the basis of merit.

5.9. To avail benefit of reservation a certificate from a Competent Authority should be produced.

5.10. The candidate (applicants) must indicate explicitly the category for which he / she wants to avail the advantage of reservation for admission. This option will, in no case, be allowed to be changed.

5.11. The candidate admitted under NRI category will not be transferred to any other category.

5.12. Conversion of vacant seats among reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) will be done as per M.P. Government directives.

5.13. Jammu and Kashmir Migrants quota seats: One seat in each program shall be reserved on over and above for sons/daughters of the persons displaced from the state of Jammu and Kashmir settled in M.P. on or before 1st January, 1999.

Such candidates shall have to produce a certificate from the S.D.O. (Revenue) of the concerned district in prescribed Performa.

Sons/ Daughters of the employees of M.P. Govt., who have served in the State of Jammu and Kashmir for curbing insurgency, are also covered under this quota.

Such candidates should have passed their qualifying examination from the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Candidates would be required to produce a certificate. The certificate should be produced at the time of admission.

5.14 Jammu and Kashmir Resident Quota: One seat in each programme shall be reserved on over and above basis for residents of Jammu and Kashmir. The candidates seeking admission against these reserved seats shall be required to appear in Common Entrance Test conducted by University and submit appropriate certificate issued by the competent authority at the time of counseling. This reservation shall be over and above the sanctioned intake.

6. Other Important Points 6.1 Any situation, not covered by provisions mentioned in this guideline shall be referred to

the Organizing Committee which will work within the ambit of Act, Statutes and Ordinances of Devi Ahilya University, Indore and its decision shall be final.

6.2 The legal disputes, if any, shall be settled within the legal jurisdiction of Indore. 6.3 Ragging, teasing, torturing or making nuisance in any way inside or outside the campus

has been declared as a serious offence and strict action shall be taken against those who will be found involved in such activities.

6.4 If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the University, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the University would expel him/her from the institution.

6.5. In case it comes to the notice that an applicant was able to secure admission based on forged certificate/s or by furnishing wrong information, willingly concealing facts or due to administrative or official negligence, his/her admission will be cancelled immediately.

6.6. If a student, after taking regular admission, fails to maintain required percentage of the attendance for each subject in the course, he/she will not be eligible to appear in tests/final exam.

7. Hostel Accommodation There is limited number of separate boys and girls hostels. For hostel accommodation,

provisionally admitted candidates are required to contact the Office of the Chief Warden, DAVV, Indore. Hostel fees will be approx. 20000/- p.a. (excluding meals). Fee is subject to change as per the University guideline.

8. Refund of Fee If any candidate leaves the course before the last counseling day the fee will be refunded

to him/her after deducting Rs. 1000/- of the fees deposited by him/her. Only caution money will be refunded if a candidate leaves any course after the said date. Please note that request for refund of fee will be processed in the University office and only after approval of the Govt. audit, refund will be done. It will take some time. In cases where candidates have fetched an undertaking to the effect that their admission may be deemed cancelled in case they fail to produce their result of qualifying examination with required eligibility percentages by August 08, 2018, there will be no refund of fee deposited. Where a provisionally admitted student is declared Fail, his/her fee deposited will be refunded after deducting Rs.1000/- of the fee deposited.
