Development
Of
Mesencephalon
Motor nuclei
SE: CN III and CN IV
GVE: Edinger-Westphal nucleus
innervating sphincter pupillary muscles
ALAR PLATE
2 longitudinal elevations seperated by
each other in the midline by a depression
A transverse groove divides these
elevations into superior(ant) and
inferior(post) portions/colliculi
Sup.colliculi
Serve as correlations and centres for visual
reflexes
Inferior colliculi
Serve as relay stations for auditory reflexes
Crus cerebri
Formed by expansion of marginal layer
around the basal plates
Serve as pathways for fibres passing from
cerebal cortex to pons and spinal cord
