Which Of These Are True Of The Best Leaders?

Are friends with their subordinates but make decisions on their own

Compete with their own direct reports and make sure they are better than others

Speak honestly, but take into account others’ status

Use indirect language and metaphors rather than get straight to the point

Avoid taking risks

This is a bit of a trick question for people in America. A study was done with 1000 managers globally and only Chinese managers listed these items as traits of good leaders. The point of sharing this with you is to emphasize that culture has an effect on the way you think about and do things even in a work environment

Huge disconnect… most people don’t have a global mindset. In most societies, ordinary citizens are socialized to learn how to work with people who are like them. They develop a uni-cultural lens that helps them understand and interpret their surroundings.
