On October 15, an earthquake struck central Philippine Islands with the center on Bohol Island.

Multiple public libraries were destroyed.

Members and friends of the American Library Association (80 people in all) contributed a total of

$6000 to help the Filipino libraries.

On March 24, Nancy Bolt visited three of the badly damaged libraries:

Loon

Calape

Tubigon

All were totally destroyed.

Operating out of the City Hall. Waiting for funding to build a new library, renovate a building, and buy new books.
