Workshop A (AM Session)
Planning Successful Projects and Getting Funding
WorkshopsWorkshops
Public Sector Procurement moves at a fast pace so it pays to be in the know and be ready to respond to invitations to tender. This workshop will highlight how and why public sector organisations procure goods and services as well as outlining the tender process. It will also provide an overview of the ‘Devon Procurement Portal’ where a wide range of tender opportunities are advertised. Kevin Balding Head of Category for Business Procurement www.devon.gov.uk/procurement
Workshop B (AM Session)
Lifting the Lid on Public Sector Procurement
Workshop C (AM Session)
Don't Be The Hero: How using others' stories (including your donors') helps grow support for your own.
We'll introduce you to the expression "Stop trying to teach a pig to sing" as we look at ways of
using social media and online tools to improve donor-engagement by sharing better stories
about your successes. How to get others to become your advocates and help your stories reach
more people in more voices more authentically. We'll demonstrate how to use social media
tools to gather, curate and share the good you do. The result: better engagement with potential
supporters and a better chance of reaching your fundraising objectives.
Kyle Hannan
Managing Director, Ecomedia Collective CIC www.ecomedia-uk.com
This workshop will give groups a background of Big’s Awards for All grant scheme and what it will and wont fund.
The session will cover what Big Lottery are looking for as a funder, common mistakes, share some successful projects and take delegates through a planning tool that will help groups understand what ‘difference’ their project is making and how this fits with Big’s outcomes as a funder.
Although focussed on Awards for All, this session will also help those organisations who are planning to scale up their activities and who may be interested in making a Reaching Communities application.

Workshop D (AM Session)
Major Gift Fundraising for Small Charities
WorkshopsWorkshops
Are you a fundraiser in a small to medium sized charity who is scared of major gift fundraising?
DON'T BE! Your size is your strength! Come and find out how smaller charities can often be better placed to secure major gifts than some of the big household names in the charity sector. With examples of smaller charities achieving big gifts, come and gather a tool-kit to make it happen where you are. Paul Courtney Founder of Kairos Fundraising Solutions www.kairosfundraisingsolutions.com
Are Facebook and Twitter a waste of time how can I make them work for me? Learn how to improve communications with your stakeholders - to attract new users and supporters, get more funding, improve engagement and raise awareness. There are so many online fundraising options, how do I know which I can trust to give me what I need and how much do they actually cost? Kate Doodson Business and Operations Manager at Cosmic www.cosmic.org.uk

Workshop for FUNDING ADVISORS
Discussion with ‘George’
GEORGE is the South West regional network for workers at not-for-profit agencies who (a) provide funding advice or (b) require a working knowledge of current grant programmes. GEORGE is currently exploring how it can best support workers in the field with access to grants, funding sources, materials, and mutual support.
The discussion will focus on funding support needs for funding advisors, and work collectively to establish a programme for GEORGE that prioritises and addresses these needs.
Workshop E (AM Session)
Is Social Investment for you?
Just started thinking about social investment or not even sure what it involves then this workshop is for you. It will introduce you to some of the key concepts, definitions and provides a useful overview of the marketplace to get you started. Workshop H (PM Session)
The Price is Right, Or is it?
Community fundraising is about getting other people involved through running events and activities for you and with you. This workshop will help you identify your audiences, highlight the importance of planning as well as helping you to develop practical ideas to take back to your organisation. David Cox Funding Advisor Teignbridge CVS (DeVA Partner) www.teigncvs.org.uk
Christmas is on the way, which means fundraisers are preparing for the year's busiest and (hopefully) most profitable period. In this workshop we'll look at the top ten ways that non-profits can stay up-to-date with trends in supporter-engagement and income-generation. We'll include ways of adding novel and exciting elements to their on-the-ground events as well as to their online campaigns.

Nicola is the Director of the Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal and helped establish it way back in 1994. She is involved in every aspect of The Appeal’s work. Always with her finger on the pulse, Nicola wishes for more hours in the day!
An amazing 1.18 million people visited the Gromit Unleashed trail and exhibition in 2013, directly contributing more than £77 million to the
Bristol economy, including money spent on accommodation, travel, gifts and refreshments. Incredibly, the wider knock-on effect of this public spending has given Bristol's economy a fantastic £123 million boost!
