Sl no

1 History of Department The Medical Education Unit (MEU) was established in 1997 and was inaugurated by Dr.

S. Kantha, the then Vice Chancellor, RGUHS, Bangalore. Dr. N. Shantharam was

incharge of MEU. Later Dr. S.R. Prasad was the Co-ordinator up to 16-01-2008. Then

Dr. R. Rupnarayan was the Convenor from 17-01-2008 to 15-01-2009. Dr. Sarala. N was

the Convenor from 16-01-2009 to 31-05-2014. She is the director of University

Department of Medical Education from 01-06-2014 till date. The department has

formulated calendar of event of its own for the year reflecting the activities spread

throughout the year to train the medical teachers in the principles and practice of teaching

using various tools and techniques. The department is monitored and supervised by two

committees: Core committee which meets once in four months and Monitoring and

advisory committee which meets twice a year.
