destroying the looking glass event v2.1
DESCRIPTION
A retry for a school assignment. Bidbook about an event concerning interactivity and gamificationTRANSCRIPT
In 2011, Jane Mcgonical wrote a
book called ‘Reality is Broken.’
This book defines that life is boring,
and games are cool. Jane tries
to mix games (and mechanics) into
real life to fix this problem.
Introduction
‘We believe that in 2020 games and interactivity will be an invisible part of our world’
The idea
Base idea: An event where everybody who is interested in today’s
communication and design, can come to listen, read, talk, do, and
most importantly Play .
Yup. It’s all about interactivity (no you can’t click this), and

destroying borders
natural communication
The idea
There will be 3 different
kind of rooms. A lecture
room where people can buy
tickets to listen to a variety
of top speakers, a challenger
room where those working
with technology can present
new ideas, and (next page)
The idea
the exposition room, where
there will be an exposition
about the last hundred years
of design. What made us
come this far, and which
important pieces have
influenced that much they
will be visible in the future?
The event can be held at seperate locations. Smaller rooms instead of one big building.

Playing
Since the event is all about
gamification and inter-
activity, it would be nice
to make something that
reflects these subjects. By
sending people on a quest
where they find out more
about the event over time.
mysterious red envelopes hidden around a city, making them attractive causes curiousity
fill them with a secret code of some sort, leaving the decoding to the people whofind them
When decoded you will find a clue to the next puzzlepiece or hint.
This way the looking glass logo gets a more traditional meaning. That of the old-school point-n-click adventure games.
Playing
1.Mysterious start
2.Quest
3.Community4.Hype
5.Event
After a good start where people have succumbed to their curiousity, there are two possible options. We can either play it safe and try to hype this event ourselves, but more effectively would be to do ‘nothing’. At least, make people believe we did nothing.
After the hard work has been done, our event can take place, hopefully with an excited crowd.
