Job Description
Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) respond to medical emergencies. They drive to places where help is needed. They give medical care to people that are sick or injured. If further treatment is needed, they drive them to the hospital.
Education
You must have a drivers license.
EMTs receive training in emergency medical care.
Both classrooms and practical training are required to become certified.
EMTs may receive three different levels of training.
Salary
EMTs –ambulance drivers earn between $16,000 to $18,000 a year.
Paramedics can earn up to $25,000 a year.
Benefits usually include paid vacations and holidays, health insurance, and a pension plan.
