Geneva

Geneva has been referred to as the world's most compact metropolis as well as the ‘Peace Capital’. The city is located at the south-western end of Lake Geneva and is surrounded by two mountain chains, the Alps and the Jura.

This is also a terrific cultural destination with over 30 museums, theatres, galleries and an opera house.

EVENTS 1-11 AUG. GENEVA FESTIVAL 2013.

2 million visitors, hundreds of free concerts on four open air stages, a huge

funfair, more than 200 food stalls, arts and crafts stands and to crown it all,

one of the world’s most spectacular musical firework display.. Embark on a

world tour of flavours with 30 different types of cuisine and experience the

thrill of 70 merry-go-rounds!

14-18 AUG. VENETIAN FESTIVAL.

51st annual festival featuring a carnival, craft fair, water-ski show, musical

entertainment, local cuisine and the festival's traditional lighted boat parade

on Sunday evening followed by a firework display high above Geneva Lake.

17 AUG. EAST TROY ELECTRIC RAILROAD PIZZA TRAIN.

The East Troy Electric Railroad’s family-friendly pizza train offers a two-hour

casual dining experience, taking riders from the railroad’s historic depot to

Phantom Lake in Mukwonago and back. Dining is aboard former coaches of

the Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad.

7 SEP. LAKE GENEVA WINE FESTIVAL.

Novice and connoisseur alike can enjoy a casually elegant afternoon on

the shores of Geneva Lake under the Ferro Pavilion at George Williams

College of Aurora University. The beautiful location provides a backdrop for

sampling exceptional wines from around the world and the best food bites

from many local restaurants and retailers.

14 SEP. LAND ROVER TRIROCK LAKE GENEVA.

The event will be held in the small lakeside village of Williams Bay, WI., on

the north shore of Geneva Lake. The courses start with a swim at Edgewater

park beach in downtown Williams Bay, followed by a bike course on rural

roads. It will culminate with a challenging run route.

27-29 SEP. ANNUAL ANTIQUE AND CLASSIC BOAT SHOW.

At The Abbey Resort, Fontana-on-Geneva Lake. Boats will be on display all

weekend showcasing major boat manufacturers and a Boat Parade on Saturday.
