Work in pairs to design the logo for the school activity ‘Sponsored Walk’. Do it using Geogebra.

Make sure you use the three transformations we’ve been working on in class. Translations, rotations and reflections must be involved in your design. Geogebra has specific tools for these.

You must know what kind of transformation you are applying every time and how to describe it by using vectors, lines of symmetry, centre and angle of rotation.

Take into account that the logo will be reduced or enlarged to print it on forms, letters, envelopes, T-shirts, stamps, cards, posters, etc.

The logo should be a tool to build an identity for the organization of the ‘Sponsored Walk’, which is a school activity to collect money for a project related to water supply. Select symbols that best describe solidarity, physical effort, team work, importance of water and environmental consciousness.

Unit 3: Transformations of a plane

Task: Designing a Logo with Geogebra

Deadline: Tuesday, 2nd December 2014.

Final products:

o ggb file with your final logo.

o Word file or equivalent for the project report, where you must include:

Task title, subject and group. Authors’ Names. Introduction: Write a couple of short paragraphs to explain what the

task consists of. Original Idea: Shortly explain the idea you started with to design your

logo. You may add a sketch. Design with Geogebra: Explain in a few steps how your logo was built

using Geogebra. Use appropiate vocabulary for geometric shapes and transformations. You can add pictures, for example, taking some screenshots.

Instead of a written document, you can make a video for the report.

OUR CHOICE

1.- The CLIL team chose 5 logos out of 35.

2.- The Eco-leader of every ESO class voted for 3 of the 5 logos that reached the final, giving 3 points to the one he/she liked best, 2 points to the following and 1 point to the last.

3.- The logo chosen by students was slightly modified in order to show a clear image of Africa.
