Ever since Volvo engineer Nils Bohlin created the three-point safety belt in 1959, Volvo Cars has been at the forefront of automotive safety.

One of the most comprehensive and ambitious electrification strategies in the automotive industry, our Vision 2025 places sustainability at the core of Volvo Cars’ future business – witha portfolio of electrified cars to be introduced across ourmodel range.

These cars will be mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids – such as our current Twin Engine range – or fully electric vehicles. Regardless of the car, our intent is clear: to show our commitment to a future where transport is cleaner and more sustainable than ever before.

Using lightweight aluminum parts, low internal friction and a range of innovative efficiency technologies, our Drive-E powertrains give your drivers more power from every drop of fuel.

A WIDE RANGE OF PLUG-IN HYBRIDS

Our Twin Engine range is a fleet sales success in many countries, and we regularly expand the offering. You can now find this powertrain in most of our best-selling fleet models. The combination of high-output combustion engines with electric motors provides the perfect blend of high performance and low emissions.

The Twin Engine even allows drivers to use different drive modes based on their preferences and the road conditions, including Hybrid, Electric and Power. We use a safely located central battery to adaptively power the vehicle.

What could your drivers achieve with an extra week’s worth of free time every year? Because that’s our vision – to give Volvo drivers back a week of their time every single year from 2025.

We will achieve this partially through in-car productivity technologies that simplify daily life – for example, voice control enabling drivers to type messages and control apps without being distracted from the road – and partially through semi-autonomous driving features that make every car journey less demanding on drivers.

In time, we even hope to be able to give you back every journey – with a fully autonomous car.

A UNIQUE APPROACH TO AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

In 2013, we began testing self-driving technologies. Now, we are developing our autonomous drive cars with help from Swedish families who are contributing to our ongoing Drive Me project by feeding back their impressions to Volvo Cars engineers.

We hope to learn how this new technology will fit into our everyday lives. Will it make travelling less stressful? Will it give people freedom to be productive in the car? Drive Me is something unique to Volvo Cars – a thorough, human-centric and collaborative approach to autonomous driving.

Already today, your drivers can experience semi-autonomous driving using Pilot Assist – a feature that is available on many of our best-selling fleet models.
