Types
wedding bands:
The wedding band became a symbol of marriage in ancient times. Wedding bands were considered a gift from a man to a woman as a symbol that he trusted her. The wedding band also showed the public that a woman was married and should be left alone by suitors.
Engagement rings:
An engagement ring is a ring indicating that the person wearing it is engaged to be married. Engagement rings are traditionally worn only by women in a number of cultures. Rings can feature diamonds or other gemstones
Promise rings:
Rings have been used to seal promises since the beginning of time. Traditionally, the promise ring is given for virtually any type of promise made between two people – either romantic or platonic. One such ring was the "scribbling ring “, which was set with uncut diamond crystals. Lovers used the exposed points of the diamond to etch romantic vows into windowpanes.

Signet rings have been used to affix personal identification marks and stamps of approval to documents throughout history. They were usually worn by people of great importanceBecause they were used to attest the authority of its bearer, the ring has also been seen as a symbol of his power.
