Leisure LoungeDesigned, Built, and Upholstered
For my final woodshop project, I wanted every detail of my design to be a new construction experience. These challenges include utilizing and incorporating research of ergonomics into the seat design, constructing the piece with minimal machine tools, the use and execution of complex joints, and upholstery.

As a collaborative design effort, my project team designed the interior of a six-seater business class jet focusing specifically on seating design. Hawker Beechcraft, sought out new technological and forward thinking design concepts to potentially implement in future Hawker Beechcraft designs. Flexibility of the environment was explored in great detail.

This project was a competition through the Retail Design Institute. The task was to design an outlet store that sold upscale items. The building used was an old Circut City building that is notible for a large red tower attached to the facade. I was responsible for creating and designing the retail store name, branding, fixtures, and manipulating the existing building conditions to fit the needs of the store.

The problem with U.S. soldiers returning home is that they have no place to retreat to for physical, mental, and spiritual care. A soldier's care is unique and requires a more specialized aproach to establishing a successful entrance into civilian life than any one therapy can provide. With the healing efforts of biophelia in mind, this project is equipped with numerous therapies to provide a holistic care facility.

Historic buildings have always been a passion of mine. They have so much to offer in the way of informing us of our history and they way people used to live in the US. For my thesis project, I took an abandoned building located on the outer edges of the 18th & Vine Jazz District in Kansas City, Missouri and designed a jazz club that embraces the essence of Kansas City Jazz. The basic structure was maintained in the design including the decorative brickwork of the original 1890 structure.
